    Zimmer sauber. Essen gut. Service freundlich.

    Schwimmbad mässig sauber, vor allem überall nass. Zimmer von der Einrichtung her kühl und eher dunkel eingerichtet.

    Nice location, plenty of parking, friendly and helpful check in staff

    The room (an "executive" one)was rather shabby and needing updating The food and wine although very nice was excessively expensive. Service at breakfast on one morning was way below standard

    Room cleaned to good standard Bed very comfortable - quality furnishings Grounds beautiful and relaxing

    Food not of good standard considering price - would expect more of it/to be hot and e.g the bread we had for sandwiches etc was thin and dry - the finishing touches were not there. Dissappointment at lack of local produce and/or organic food. We are restauranteurs and expect a reasonable quality and standard for that pricing. The service was also rushed For breakfast no plain yoghurt/no meusli/ no bananas when asked. Again food not hot. Could not open the patio doors to our room - dangerous if there were a fire. Dress code of hotel not observed for mealtimes - people not appropriately dressed. Some staff not as helpful as others.

    Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely big room with big, fluffy towels, flannels and a proper bar of soap! There was a decent sized desk to work on. Room service was available as we arrived too late for the resturant. My partner waited in the hotel while I attended a meeting locally and was made to feel comfortable and welcome.

    we weren't able to use the facilities as we arrived too late.

    Peaceful surroundings; very clean; well decorated; welcoming, helpful staff; beautiful welsh scenery; comfortable beds.

    None really. We would have welcomed a fresh fruit dessert on the evening menu and a choice of more fresh fish.

    Wonderfull building & super location for access to snowdonia etc. Staff were friendly, restaurant was EXCELLENT, overall good value for a quality hotel.

    Some construction work going on but this was well controlled & fully explained before hand.

    It was of a good quality, clean and very comfortable. It was not just a bedroom but also a place to sit and relax

    Would have prefered some muslin type screen so that in the morning I could have opened the curtains whilst I ate my breakfast in my PJs. People walked through the terrace quite a bit...

    "The room and facilities in it were all excellent. There was always plenty of tea-bags, milk and biscuits. It was lovely to find a bottled of chilled wine in the room on our arrival plus quality, glass bottles of water. The bathroom was elegant and supplied with very thick, quality towels and bath robes. We were a little surprised that we could not see any mountains from our room but the stream was quite calming. The swimming pool was warm and a definite asset to the hotel. The restaurant food was of a very high standard but the evening menu was not as varied as we would have preferred. There was an extensive choice on the breakfast menu. We would recommend this hotel for a quiet break." (97947303)

    The room was spacious, well-lit and with an excellent, large bathroom.

    Easy chairs were quite low and on the small side.

    Beautiful tranquil setting, tastefully refurbished with stunning swimming pool and excellent restaurant. Friendly, polite staff. Nice touch with the cute cuddly soft toy on the pillow.

    Lovely hotel and setting. High standards to room, food and service.

    Far from nearest town, can only really use hotels facilities, you have to drive to explore the surrounding area. Food although nice was pricey. Pool was a little on small size and not really adequate for a good 'fitness' swim, fine for a relax thohugh!

    Very quiet and secluded with a lovely room and view

    The 'exectutive' four poster bed looks great but has a metal frame and is not too comfortable with 'creaking' keeping you awake

    "A delightful small country hotel-'clasy but not snotty',set in large grounds-had a pretty gentle stream running past the french doors of our room.Felt comfortable and able to wander as we pleased.Lovely executive room, well furnished with king size brass bedstead and large en suite, tea & coffee etc.Would like to have stayed longer and would definately book it again."     The accommodation was first class, a hidden luxury in North Wales!I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to my family and friends.

    The gym was very tiny with little equipment.

    It was clean, spacious and tasteful with good quality bathroom and bed (very important!). Nothing was too much trouble for the staff

    The only minor thing was slightly keen housekeeping in the morning banging on the the door twice as since we were on holdiay (and have stressful jobs at home!) we like to sleep in.

    "I do not normally stay in hotels of such quality and expense but decided to treat myself. The room was good to excellent apart from the bathroom door. When my guest asked to use the toilet in the room, it was fortunate that we knew each other sufficiently well to laugh about the ill-fitting door and there was no embarrassment. The bathroom fan appeared to be left on permanently and late into the evening as if to stay on all night and, while not noisey, was unwelcome. I asked for it to be turned off and that was done (centrally). The portions of marmalade and jam set out for breakfast seemed unnecessarily meagre and another (independent) guest remarked about it also. I had a bar meal of chicken curry and there were two matters for complaint. The curry sauce was insufficient in quantity and taste. The meal was served in dishes having high sides and one had to delve to the bottom to cut portions of chicken. My guest suffered similarly with her dish of liver and bacon. I would recommend the hotel in certain circumstances." (99989384)

    Spacious room (No 19), pleasant outlook, general comfort and calm in the hotel generally except during a wedding party. The staff were courteous, attentive and pleasant.

    Bathroom door was a very poor match to its frame and the door would not shut. A personal guest and I decided to have a bar meal on the Saturday evening in the lounge adjacent to the bar, a wedding party overflowed into it for a period and spoiled the otherwise pleasant atmosphere there. The bar area seems much too small for general business and the access poor. I remarked to my guest that it was to be hoped that a fire would not break out, particularly during the wedding party.

    Room was gorgeous - loved the touch of the dog! Nice, big airy room. Next time I will know to bring a DVD. Nice to have the option to watch your own choice.

    The gym was cramped. Luckily I used it first thing in the morning with no one else around. No air con so opened the window - could imagine it being very hot in the summer months although it would just be better to do a run/walk outside then

    "we booked an executive room for a 3 night stay to unwind and relax. The room was lovely and comfortable and the hotels location made for a perfect break. However we were disapointed with the leisure facilties which were quite poor, the gym was filthy and some of the equipment was broken and very old. The pool area changing rooms were also quite dirty and clearly not well maintained, some of the lockers were broken and used towels were left to pile up. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was excellent but there was no ambiance in the dining room( could have done with some background music as previous clients have suggested ) and the waiting staff were overly formal and not very friendly.We also felt the restaurant was very expensive. We had room service in our room on the second night which was very nice .On the third night we chose to go to a lovely friendly restaurant in Caernafon but were phoned by reception as we were leaving to ask if we wanted to book a table in the restaurant which we felt was quite intrusive. perhaps if the restaurant was more relaxed and friendly with music and better value for money more guests would use it, as has been previously suggested but ignored!!!"     some of the staff (reception) were very nice and friendly but the staff in the restaurant were not so friendly which made mealtimes a bit too formal

    "The accomodation was far beyond our expectations from a 3* hotel. The building is very charming and we loved the tranquillity of the location. The extension which houses the leisure pool is a special feature of the hotel and is highly recommended after a long day in the Snowdonian peaks. The little details such as fruit bowls dotted around the hotel or the little toy dog in the room made our stay even more special." (99688519)

    Spacious room, modern bathroom, balcony with beautiful views, nice food.

    Some minor repair needed to the French doors in our room, as they were scraping the floor and we were worried about damaging the carpet when opening them. A bar bill had been accidentally added to our charges, but this problem was very professionally handled by the hotel staff.

    Extremely good service. Everybody is friendly , personal attention at all times. Nothing is too much trouble. I must recomend Portmeirion as a visit - brilliant especially if you are staying on a short term basis.

    Could do with a litlle more discreet background music.
