    "OK but the stay was ruined by the terrible service and non delivery of breakfast - compounded by the waitress not thinking forty five minutes was anywhere near excessive to wait for breakfast. The hotel is tired but for £40 for a bed, what can I expect I suppose. Other staff were fine, nice people." (108235028)

    The dinner was excellent, very good quality and the bedroom was clean and tidy.

    Assistant Manageress who booked me in was in too much of a rush to get to her next task, Breakfast took in excess of 45 minutes to arrive after the order for a basic breakfast was placed. I was on business and had to get going before it arrived. Table not cleaned from previous use before I was allocated the same table.

    Reasonable price, clean room, decent breakfast, bar ok

    Did not have the advertised internet access in the bedrooms. Only available in downstairs lounge, which is no good for me.

    "Confirmed my previous views on Best Western Hotels, do not bother visiting unless, as in this instance, everywhere else is full or you put polite staff over decor!" (107883001)

    Th staff were all very polite and very helpful. Shame the decor did not match the quality of the staff

    hotel furnishings and decor was very dated and tired. the room smelt of smoke even though was a non smoking room. Had the feel of a retirement home!

    Friendly, helpful staff, swimming pool & fitness suite an added bonus,very generous & varied breakfast, well equipped room & free parking

    Shower not working (bath available as alternative). Door key card a bit temperamental.

    Location of the hotel was ideal for me - breakfast was good. Nice spacious room but

    Car park was difficult to negotiate. Lift was broken down and my room was very far away from reception etc. There were some minor housekeeping problems with my room - the curtain did not draw properly - tv remote not working properly. loo flush needed reassembling!

    Room looked attractive but very compact. Lovely fluffy towels and real glasses in bathroom. Location for our purpose excellent.

    Disturbed by noisy plumbing and other hotel users.

    we weren't told in advance that the restaurant was closed.our room on arrival was very cold.The heater in the bathroom was not working.

    "A wonderful hotel with amazing staff. The few things I wasn't 100% satisfied with had almost nothing to do with the Hotel and staff themselves and I fully intend to book with them again the next time I'm in Barry. " (107241103)

    Wonderful staff went above and beyond to accomodate my requests. The room always clean and everything kept in proper working order.

    The building was an older building and the overhead lights went out [blew a fuse] on my last night when I truned them all on, low-flow showerheads will always annoy me. Would be nice for the pool to remain open longer to accomodate long days of sight-seeing and local travels.

    The main building; Reception, restaurant / bar were fine, staff were excellent.

    Room was small, bed was old and hard, curtains were torn and very dirty, bathroom fan was very noisy, decoration was poor.

    Clean and tidy hotel with plesant bar and dinning room

    Bar could do with a better selection of comfortable seeting ie armchair style. Teapot/Coffee jug should be included as a standard in rooms refreshment facilities and not have to be requested.

    Not many. Staff were friendly and front of house the facilities were good it was just the rooms.

    Just in general need of updating. Its a throw back to the 80's and the rooms need a update along with the furniture, bathroom etc.

    "Very welcomimg and pleasant weekend stay. Shame about the too hot room and not being able to control the radiator adequately. The staff did try to alleviate the problem, however. A good place to stay if spending a weekend in Cardiff as it is easier and cheaper to get into Cardiff by train from Barry than using the car. We would stay here again." (97860369)

    Excellent and welcoming staff. Restaurant pleasant and food good, if a lttle expensive.

    Heating in rooms needs better control, too hot!!! No Welsh TV available only West Country so no local weather.

    "Ideally located for regular trains into Cardiff. Good views out over Holme and the Bristol channel. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and breakfast was excellent. Swimming pool was good and always empty at time of our visit. Older style hotel with rooms to match, (not rabbit hutches like the new stuff) but all clean, tidy and well serviced. Many restaurants in locality especially Carlos Italian. Hotel restaurant also supposed to be good but not there long enough to try, perhaps next time." (97037959)

    "Very good hotel at good room rate. Very good english breakfast included in the room price. As with many older style hotels, floorboards creak but, though I could hear other guests moving around, this did not interrupt sleep." (97042392)

    Staff were very helpful and rooms were spacious.

    Thermal curtains cover radiators when closed and so room gets cold overnight. Room TV's have Sky Sports channels but not other freeview channels.

    "We have stayed at this hotel in the past, although the room this time was not good, the last 2 occassions we stayed were 1st class, the staff are excellent and very helpful The car park is not the best, it is very small and can cause problems getting in and out. Idea location for the train station for our trip into Cardiff to the rugby" (97298623)

    The room was almost touching the pool area roof and there was a vent pipe directly beneath the window which created a strong smell when window was open

    the hotel was lovely and clean and all staff were excellent. its was also close to the train station for easy access to Cardiff.

    Thr staff were fist class and very helpful, overall a very nice experience and I would recommend to anyone

    Only problem I found was the shower, it went from scolding hot to freezing cold without warning

To compare it with other hotels ie travel lodge or premier travel inn it is a little dated the ambience could be improved a little more ie nice pictures more modern furniture up to date tv to give a little more choice on programmes.     Nice big room with a nice view.

    Wedding receoptions on the Saturday night was pretty loud but did stop at midnight. The location itself was quiet though.
