    Close to local shops.

    On a very busy main road, could hear the tube running throughout the night and very early morning.

    "My room faced directly onto the main road and the London Underground rumbles audibly immediately under the hotel. I knew this in advance and equipped myself with bionic earplugs thus assuring an excellent night's sleep! Breakfast arrived on a tray at my door exactly at the moment I had stated, but there was no choice and included several things I did not want to eat." (108188308)

    Clean, bright, spacious room with comfortable bed and four super pillows. Staff perfectly polite and (quite) helpful.

    Very noisy. Toilet would not stop flushing - it was necessary to open the tank and manipulate the system manually from inside each time. Breakfast cost an extra £5.50. Staff not very smiley.

    "I liked the hotel's area. It is not swanky but it is in a real neighborhood. The management was kind and helpful. " (107656730)

    The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to be helpful to me.

    As was expected, the room was really small. There was a small bit of mold around the shower stall. And there was no available ice supply.

    Handy location

    Traffic noise a problem. Lack of communication of procedures (eg) not being told we needed to book in for breakfast, so found no breakfast available on 2nd day. Room was very small for 2 people.

    "very good standard, very friendly staff, 40metres from clapham south tube, and a few minutes up the tube and your in the city centre" (107731423)

    room very well equipped, and excellent standards of cleanliness, , i think you'd struggle to find somewhere so cheap and to a high standard at the short notice i found this place, ie the day prior to travelling. The staff were very friendly too.

    only down point was the tube, which runs under the main road, but trains stop between 1am and around 6am and it wasn't that noticable with ear plugs in

    Really friendly / helpful staff. Great location for clapham common (was participating in London to Brighton bike ride so it was great to roll out of bed and be at the start line).

    wasn't sure how to work the over bath shower, so just had bath instead. You could hear the tube, but obviously this didn't continue through the night so it wasn't a problem.

    Comfortable, clean room with good facilities Easy, no fuss access after reception is closed. Very convenient for transport, shops, restaurants etc.

    Road noise and underground is obvious but went quiet after midnight No breakfast was offered but we didn't ask

    Good location near central London without being in the overcrowded central zone itself. Close to tube station. Small quiet uncluttered hotel. Good value for money.

    "Terrible stay. Room was facing the South Circular. Very noisy all night. This we can sort of understand but not the collecting of rubbish and bottles from the pub next door at 2.05am Sunday morning. We felt this was totally unacceptable and not necessary. I dread to think how much this was taking from the good people of Balham on their council tax bill." (107556140)

    Bed linen and towels were clean. Beds were good and firm.

    Could not use basin. Plug did not shut down!! No heating in bathroom. Really cold and unacceptable. Free standing radiator in room which was not switched on and we arrived at 6.30pm.

    The room was clean and well equipped. Just down from the subway station and, as reported, within easy reach of many restaurants and stores. The heating worked which was very important in the freezing weather I experienced.

    very noisy , the room window gave on a wall !! the light in the corridor lighted the room due to the space between the door and the frame door so it was very annoying for sleeping

    Extremely noisy position on main road. I had asked when booking to be placed at the back of the hotel; I was put at the front. The window was broken in the room so I could not close it; the noise from street traffic was so bad I could not sleep. I asked to move but request refused and told 'no other rooms free'. No sign of any other guests. Was refused breakfast at 8am because I had not given notice before 7am. There was no sign in my room or other information to tell me this. As there were no other guests, I would have appreciated a little leeway on this condition.

    "For the most part the hotel was good, it had everything I needed at a very reasonable price and was in a good location. The major problem was noise both from the road and the tube, I got maybe 4.5 hours sleep the first night and 6 hours the second, this is fine if you have been partying but not great when your down for two days intensive study work. I would not stay at the hotel again because I am normally only in London on business and the lack of sleep is disruptive." (107242553)

    Quality of the TV/DVD unit, The drink and basket treats, A big plus was the inclusion of supermarket shower gel and soap.

    Hair-dryer was missing, The bedside small desk lamp not working, Main room light offset so room was only ever dim and under lit, Noise from the road was difficult to block out due to badly fitting window, Tube noise (I believe it was the tube) very difficult to ignore led to only a few hours sleep a night.

    No good points

    Would not recommend use of this hotel again, the condition of the hotel is bad, the accoustic insulation is not acceptable as you can hear music from above and next door plus the noise break in from traffic through the window. The bedding was not very clean and the most horrific thing was that our guest from the college found some little animal/insects crawling on the bed.
