    Very friendly staff. Excellent views from the garden. Excellent value for money. Lithlingow is a loely town.

    Huge room. Big bathroom. Quiet hotel. Lovely meals in restaurant. Lovely location and beautiful view over valley. Close to railway for trip into Edinburgh.

    Terrible bed, was very noisy each time you turned in bed. Bottom sheet always became untucked. No soap or shampoo's. Body wash ran out and was not replaced.

    Very clean hotel & room which had good facilities & a great view eastwards. Breakfast was served promptly. Staff were helpful & friendly

    Nothing to report other than noisy guests who were staying for the rugby in Edinburgh on the Sunday

    Room was freezing as only one heater worked. bathroom door would not shut. bed was ice cold because of broken heater.

    "We very much enjoyed our stay at the Bonsyde. The public rooms do not match up to the standard of room 4, but are very adequate and the dining room is pleasant with a nice view over the valley towards Linlithgow. " (108063304)

    Very large, well appointed room with a fabulous view. This is our second visit to this hotel and we stayed in this room each time. The hotel offers extremely good value for money and we would book again.

    The hotel is in open countryside and is not too close to other amenities, however drivers will not find this to be a particular problem.

    A very quite and friendly hotel with excellent views. Staff were very helpful without being overbearing. Food was very good as was the service. On-line Internet booking was simple and convenient.

    The shower unit in the room was adequate, but the water pressure was a little feeble. The hot water did take rather longer to come through than expected but it was OK once you got it.

    The spacious rooms, the bathtub (instead of a shower like in most hotels), the breakfast, very nice staff.

    The doorknob/lock that wouldn't work and cost us about half an hour per day.

    "Accomodations were one mile from train station; we had to take our car downtown and park it while we took the train into Edinburgh." (99259310)

    Great scenery, studio apartment has washer/dryer. Modern and very clean.

    We only had one bathroom for 4 adults.

    Food good and plenty of.

    Staying in room 7 you have to remember to get the staff to swith the cellar cooler off, as it is mounted near the room.

    "The hotel was clean and well presented, the food served was well cooked and very good. the staff were really friendly and helpful even though we were late checking in - just before the restaurant closed - they were happy to provide dinner. the menu had a large selection on it considering the size of the hotel."     The room was large,clean,and very comfortable.

    The TV didnt work, however, had i been staying longer i am sure that it could have been sorted out for me. it would have been nice if the staff had mentioned that there was a comfrtable louge area behind the bar. this wasnt found until i checked out.

    Dog Friendly and location

    Last orders for evening meal at 8.30pm. Breakfast didn't start until 9am on Sunday. I was competing at Dog show and had to be there by 7.30am. Therefore we didn't have breakfast but no reduction in tariff.

    On a cold night, the hotel, and our room in particular, was very warm and welcoming. Although we arrived ten minutes before last dinner orders, and seemed to be the only guests in the hotel, we were served quickly and pleasantly.

    Nothing, apart from 8.30pm seemed to be very early for last dinner orders.

    "The staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel looks run down due to the very poor condition of the window frames. It was a warm weekend when we stayed there and the dining room was unbearably hot even with the windows and doors open. The hotel was clean but could do with a coat of paint. The hotels elevated position above the town of Linlithgow gives it wonderful views and I enjoyed walking my dog in the local area. Visiting Linlithgow its palace and its loch is a pleasant way to spend a day. Overall an enjoyable weekend." (3305105079)

    Wonderful views. Dog friendly. Efficient and friendly bar staff. The nearby town of Linlithgow and its Palace.

    Cleaner did not make bed properly, took away dirty glasses in room and did not replace them. Toilet seat was loose, electric shower temperature would not remain constant. All the windows in the hotel need replacing. Air conditioning is urgently required in the conservatory dining room, when the sun is shining it is unbearably hot.White wine was not chilled and although served in an ice bucket it remained tepid.

    The room was large and pleasantly decorated with beautiful views to the surrounding countryside. The bathroom was also very nice although would have benefitted froma bath. The hotel itself is in a very nice location and has a superb restaurant.

    Although at first glance everything appeared to be well kept there were a few problems such as the broken window frame leaving a large gap to the outside - this would have had a very cold breeze blowing through it in winter! Also the bathroom door wouldn't shut properly.

    Very quaint. Great dining experience with complimentary breakfast and the resturant is open in the evening. Hosts are wonderful and very friendly.

    Away from the major town Edinburgh. You need a car to be able to get around.

    "Room still smelt smoky though non-smoking requested and all Scottish hotels are non-smoking. We were offered another for the 2nd and 3rd nights - non available 1st night so we left the window open. It was cold when we got back -hence heating comment above. A bulb was missing from the bedside light and it was replaced immediately - such problems do occur and how it is handled is important. In this case it was handled well. We would use it again."     It is a very peacefull location with terrific views. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
