    Freindly staff-cleanliness in general

    Bacon at breakfast had been over-cooked and kept warm too long.We had to walk through the dining room to our room-understand the difficulty because of the age of the building but still rather disturbing when going to the Spa and guests are eating.

    We loved the tennis court and gardens and the pool.

    It wasnt a double bed, rather 2 twin beds pushed together. The checkout time given online was 7 am! No one answered the phone to confirm or deny this. After booking found out it was 11am, thew!

    Excellent food - albeit expensive. Decent sized pool and jacuzzi.

    No tea & coffee in the room and it took 45 mins to get one. Sky channels on the TV didn't work. Auto billing of 5% tip for each days stay was a bit presumptuous!

    Helpful pleasant staff and enjoyable food

    Maintenance and clenliness issues in room. Room safe located on the floor (poor access) Pool area very tired and jacuzzi not working. Bistro food very disappointing. Great Hall dining room used as a thoroughfare to other rooms. People walking through while you dine.

    "This is a fantastic hotel, a experience everybody should have. the bedrooms are wonerful with lovely Crabtree&Evelyn goodies in the bathroom.,excellent position in the cotswolds to explore the lovely villages." (97813056)

    from the moment we arived to when we left,we had the most wonderful time, the hotel is excellent staff are very helpful, we loved it.

    "Staff made you feel very welcome, the meal in the Great Hall was superb and very relaxed. Swim pool very good. Will visit again one day. Would have liked to have known that the suite was in the hotel gardens and not the actual hotel ( having to put on coats before and after meal not too good )" (97997497)

    Very comfortable room and lovely bed

    Stayed in the suite in the cottage, very nice but is situated in the hotel gardens and did not like putting on coats to go to hotel for meals, swimming etc

    Excellent curtious friendly staff in all areas of the hotel. The breakfast was excellent and in beautiful surroundings.

    The Lygon Arms was everything that I had expected. I was traveling with my sister and her husband from America and wanted to impress them on their first visit to England. I had seen the hotel on a previous visit (my in-laws live ind Kenilworth)to Broadway and marked it as a place that I would stay one day.

    My room, #26, was over the kitchen exhaust, although it was only on during the dinning periods

    "A good stay, expectation was high for a fantastic experience as it was a birthday celebration. Mainly waiting staff that let everything down - see comments above. Just expect the tiny details to be right. Overall experience including Elemis Spa Facial was good." (99241632)

    Lovely room in the original part of the hotel. Comfy bed and sheets. Lovely old fashioned bathroom - fluffy white towels and bathrobe. Old fashioned bath/shower, not just a shower. Great outside area in which to eat lunch. Fantastic spa and swimming pool. Dining Room.

    Bathroom products - Crabtree and Evelyn - expected something more upmarket. Difficulty ordering food for children at a minute past 6pm to eat outside. Had to order room service food from the room service menu delivered outside - could have been a much better experience with an 'of course we can do that' attitude rather than a difficult one. Room was rather warm. Need copious amounts of cold water to drink, two bottles was nowhere near enough, tap water not nice. Over attentive staff at dinner, under attentive staff at breakfast. At dinner, we were asked every five minutes if everything was ok - also, our wine was poured for us every second by a different person, we requested to pour our own. Poor waiting staff communication between themselves. At breakfast - really lovely hot breakfast arrived, but there was nowhere to put it as the cerial dishes had not been cleared away. Toast was uninspiring - slice white or brown, just expected something more tasty.

    breakfast at the grand hall was chaotic and there wasn't much choice/ range in the continental b'fast. Toast was cold

    "We were not aware the hotel was under new ownership, and having stayed there many times over the years, felt the standards were not nearly as high as previous visits. We were dissapointed at some of the new decor. The dining room has lost its charm and history. No coats of arms or other previous decor." (99483172)

    Had to request a hairdryer. There had been one in the room on previous visits. Bath tub stopper inoperative. Dirty mark on bathroom floor tile.

    "I was very pleased with the standard of service throughout the hotel but particularly pleased with the lengths reception staff went to , to make my son's 12 birthday a memorable day. Several staff presented him with a specially iced cake bearing his name, singing Happy Birthday and blowing poppers. He was completely surprised and told me later as we left that he would like to come back to this hotel. My only criticism if indeed it is one, is that I would have preferred to see more children's type meals on the menu. Other wise we had an excellent stay. Thank you. Jacinta" (99657408)

    I liked the layout of our room. It had a twin bedded area,a seating area, a cloakroom area and a bathroom.

    All I disliked was the building work outside early in the morning but I do realise thsi is temporary.

    "The dining room was wonderful and the food seemed to magically appear as there was no noise from the kitchens. We also never noticed the work of the refurbishments carried out. We have stopped in hotels all over the world but the service from the staff was exceptional and extremley attentive without being overpowering. The hotel itself is beautiful and an experience to stay in. It took us a while to find our way around but that only added to the hotels appeal. The only thing we would of liked to have known before is actually how nice it was because we would have stopped for longer as the brochure and the online details are very modest." (99599361)

    We enjoyed the contrast between the historical and contemporary, excellent amenities and high standards with a comfy atmosphere.

    The staff were very friendly and accomodating, the function rooms were very good , as was the food. Although I did not use the pool or spa areas other friends staying at the hotel spoke very highly of them

    "The olde world atmosphere is strong,and the staff seem to be well versed in the values of courtesy and helpfulness which are absent in many of today's modern hotels. The room service costs are high, and do not really give value, and dining costs are generally overdone." (99524777)

    Accommodation is adequate, with a quaint atmosphere.The staff were very helpful in allaspects.

    The room was overheated, with no means of reducing the temperature, the shower only delivered cold water, and there were cobwebs in evidence.

    "we arrived at the hotel a bit late but staff were very helpful making sure we got somewhere to eat and taking us to our room explaining the facilites and giving us time to freshen up.breakfast the first morning was a bit crazy it was after nine but a lot of the fruit and juices had run out and staff were to busy to refill them the second morning we were up before eight and everything was alot calmer so as time goes on i think some members of staff should be designated to refilling the produce as it goes otherwise the food and facilities were excellent" (3305280492)

    "The hotel is situated in a very pretty village. The building is magnificent and contains many antique furnishings throughout including the rooms. The gardens are extensive and very well kept. There are two very good restaurants but although the adjoing pub is a free house it only offers Tetly's as ale. This I find very dissapointing as the hotel is in an area containing many local breweries. There is ample car parking space. The staff are very professional and curtious. When checking out I would check your bill for a 5% discretionary room charge which caught me out!" (3305130327)

    The age of the hotel -it ouses old worldliness and the staff are always very welcoming here.

    The room and landing were a little shabby I`m afraid. The landing staircarpet was threadbare in several places.

    "Staff service and attention was 100% as soon as my Mother and I arrived. The transition from initial signing in to our Room was quick and smooth. All Staff were courteous at all times and nothing was too much trouble which was a great help as my Mother's illness has made her more needful. The Hotel was clean and tidy at all times - the food was just what the Doctor ordered! However, I do feel alcohol measures should be made more clear. We were given a double measure of spirit in drinks before dinner one evening which caused my Mother a problem the next day." (3304706435)

    "Our stay at the hotel was very pleasant and equal to our last visit there. We were well received when booking in and helped to our room. The room was very comfortable and having tea in the small patio garden was very relaxing. The ambience of the room was pleasant as was the modern well fitted bathroom. The spa facilities were excellent and quiet. There were some minor problems as the hairdryer did not work properly when reported not dealt with, similarly the broken light bulbs weren't replaced, but these are trivial and did not dampen our enjoyment of the hotel. The staff were very pleasant, courteous and helpful. Flower arrangement were very attractive. The dining in the Great Hall restuarant was superb, the waiter attentive but not intruisive and the food very good. On a negative note the menu in Goblets bistro was limited and disappointing though the venue was pleasant." (3304670288)
