    Well appointed room

    Bathroom ceiling had signs of water damage, needed painting NO hot water in the morning! Bar area was freezing cold in th evening

    The room was very comfortable, and we were able to bring our pet dog with us.

    Only 1 bedside lamp was provided.

    "the service we had from booking our wedding in January thru to the day was excellent, the wedding co-ordinators and all staff associated with the day were excellent, and made the day run very smoothly.     Very good standard in general, bed was comfortable, bathroom facilities were of a high standard.

    Prices of alcoholic drinks at the bar! Very expensive! However, service was friendly. Breakfast was a bit too early - especially after a wedding.

    "The service in the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast was excellent. Staff were attentive and friendly and dinner in the Tower Restaurant was very good (portions were small which suits us but might not suit people with larger appetities). The setting is very nice" (99704468)

    Spacious room with a nice seating area - 2 comfy chairs and a coffee table. Very comfortable bed and pillows.

    The room and location were nice. Our room was fairly large. The breakfast was very good with a great selection and the breakfast staff were lovely.

    The bed was the most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept on in a hotel.

    "Eventually phoned reception at 11pm to complain about beds, and was told the mattresses should have been zipped together to make double bed, which they were clearly not. Able to this this ourselves, but put a damper on the evening. These things should be checked BEFORE guests check in." (99377048)

    Beautiful room, Chinese style furniture, lots of space.

    The beds, booked a double room, given room with twin beds pushed together, which kept sliding apart on wooden floor. Not ideal for romantic anniversary visit!

    Room 31 excellant but woken up early by a van parking outside the window about 6am.Leisure part excellent.

    There was no ventilation in the bathroom when having a shower/bath. The windows would not open in the room(2).

    The breakfast was extremely good and the hotel is set in the most beautiful setting.

    The fact that the iron was not working, the lack of a mini bar. The grouting around the bath was unsightly it would take very little effort and cost to put right and would make all the difference in the overall professional look you on the whole achieve.

    "The staff at the hotel were very courteous and helpful. The food in the Tower dining room was very good this included both dinner and breakfast. I would definately return and hope the standard will be maintained. The McArthur Glen shopping outlet nearby is very good for a day out. As it is about half an hour to Edinburgh and is in a quiet location the hotel may not be suitable for a young party looking for nightlife." (99978593)

    having to go outside hotel and cross courtyard to reach room as it was raining and I did not have a jacket for evening wear

    The room was wonderful and spacious. The hotel was spotlessly clean and we were given a room as soon as we arrived even though we arrived early.

    The shower was not very good.

    "Wonderful stay Hotel can do more to market benefits of staying in Hotel i.e Shopping centres, places of interest, to attract people. Maybe provide taxi service and bundle cost in charge.     "We came to host and attend our daughter's wedding so our opinions are prejudiced by this. The arrangements by and large were exceptionally good combining to make the whole occasion really memorable. More than one guest thanked us on their departure with the words the best wedding we've ever attended. I think this speaks for itself." (2723403)

    The main thing which struck both my wife and myself was the friendliness of the staff. One expects helpfulness and general welcoming these days - but everyone was both friendly and approachable.

    Really our stay was too short to form a judgement on this.

    wonderful room; although had to change hotels for 2 days staff did all they could to make this move as easy as possible

    one or two staff were not always helpful - bar staff were excellent and friendly as were most of the reception staff. the restaurant manager however was quite rude and brusque at times.

    The large room and lovely comfy bed

    The price of the drinks are very expensive and leave quests commenting on this price instead of the standard of the hotel. We stayed at the Cameron DE vere Hotel a 5 star and the drinks were not so expensive

    "The staff were well-mannered, courteous and friendly - a real credit. The leisure facilities were really nice - it is a shame that there does not appear to be any photos on the website of the facilities as the pool location is really good having three sides glazed. We were on a cheap deal but at no time did we feel that we were treated any differently to other guests. Dinner and breakfast were both very good. Dinner especially so. We came away feeling that we had had a week away, not just one night! The only black mark would be that we had to use an electric heater in our room to warm it up. This was no great problem for us, but some guests may feel a little let down, especially if they have paid full price for the room. We would have no hesitation is returning to the hotel or recommending it to friends." (2856459)

    The room was furnished well and did not feel dated at all - though the bathroom could have done with a makeover. It was equiped to a high standard. The four-poster bed was a real treat.

    I was happy with all aspects of the hotel.

    "Our visit to The Houstoun House Hotel was very pleasant,from the service in your bar on our arrival, to checking in, all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We tried to book a double with four poster bed, but were unsuccessful, though the room we did get was both comfortable and spacious. The food was very good and we enjoyed our stay very much. We visited local Historical sights, which were easy to find via road signs. We would like to come back during nicer weather to take advantage of the lovely gardens." (2766674)
