    Check-in was good.

    Restaurant was cold and as I was the only person I did wait around for a long period between courses.

    "apart from the 1st mornings breakfast basically good and we will go back as we stayed for the sppedway gp in Cardiff. we are going again next year and probably will stay at the hotel again." (107171571)

    Rooms were large and clean and hotel outside was clean and pretty. Staff mostly friendly.

    culdn't cope with wedding party and ordinary guests as restaurant service was extremely slow. Also a fight on the first night due to the wedding party was dealt with badly and one of my relatives I was staying with had a very disturbed night due to the noise and fighting. However was moved to a better room for our second night. also ist morning we had brakfast on terrace as there were 5 of us and nowhere to sit indoors and had to keep asking for cutlery cups etc. No-one asked us what we wanted to eat and when we asked were told its full english. 2nd mornign a proper table had been set for us and we were given the full menu!

    Lovely location, very convenient to Cardiff, relaxing atmosphere, nice walks in vicinity, good food and friendly efficient staff - good value/great experience - place we will come back too.

    would not want to nit-pick as we ( 6 adults) all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If we had to be critical of anything, the night bar service, while trying to be extremely helpful and friendly obviously lacked bar experience - minor point.

    "A good hotel. Exactly what it was advertised as - a 3* and I got what I expected, even though I was the only person there during the Xmas/New year period. I travel a lot and expect to get what I pay for. At St Mary's I certainly did." (107721434)

    wedding on the Saturday meant that the lounge bar was unavailable leaving only the Spike bar open to residents for drinks.

    Helpful and pleasant staff. Very comfortable and well decorated room. Superb bar meals at very reasonable prices - the standard of cooking well above average. Good access to motorway and good directions.

    The advertising does not mention that the restaurant is not open on a Sunday - this was a disappointment as we had looked forward to pleasant meal. ( the bar meals that we had were excellent.) Golfers use the hotel guest's car park which means that guests sometimes have to park on the public car park just nearby.

    "The Hotel stands in its own grounds surrounded by a golf course. The accommodation was to a high standard and very clean. The restaurant over looking the golf course served first class food even if the menu was a little limited. The staff were some of the most helpful I have come across on all my business travels in the uk. To top all this a golf course on the door step" (97329777)

    "This hotel was a real find when you usually get anonymous 'same' hotels. Cardiff was really busy and it was difficult to find a hotel at a reasonable price. St Mary's was fun, lively and breakfast was included in the price." (97490380)

    I loved the old stone buildings and the quiet atmosphere. Everybody was very friendsly. Also convenient for Cardiff and Bridgend.

    Room was a bit dark and old fashioned. We didn't really need 2 double beds!

    We have stayed at St Marys on three different occasions and each time have received a warm welcome, our rooms have been spacious, clean and in good working order and, after snooping around, we now know that Rooms 1 and 3 are the ones to ask for, for their added ambience.

    Bit of a muck up on Monday morning in the breakfast room due to staff not turning in.

    The walls were quite thin in my room and I could hear a lot of noise till around 11pm.

    The Whirlpool Bath!!

    We never requested a newspaper but at 7:30am woke up to this rustling noise of it trying to be pushed under our door, we were quite startled!!

    "This hotel was recommended by colleagues, who use the facility on a regular basis. Their recommendation was well founded. The fillet stake was superb, and would surely win a prize. All in all an enjoyable stay." (97281643)

    It was clean, comfortable and all facilities handily placed.

    Walls a bit thin, could hear guest[s] in adjacent room. However not a serious problem.

    "The breakfast was poor in size and quality. My wife and I both had Haddock. This appeared to be the smallest and thinnest piece available from a frozen packet (we had wished that we had ordered the full english breakfast until we saw that being served). The choice of ceral/fruit was very poor. Compared to other Hotels of the same standard, it fell short of what we have experienced recently. I would recomend the hotel, but suggest that meals were had elsewhere. Unfortunatley, because of the weather, I did not have a chance to use the Golf course." (99843850)

    Bathroom was tired, needed re-grouting or tiling.

    I was in Bridgend for a cycling event, and the staff were only too pleased to ensure that my bike was kept safe and secure overnight.

    With an early start on Sunday morning, I could have done with a bowl of porridge for breakfast.

    "Even though the hotel is close to the M4, the loaction is very quiet and I was not aware of any traffic noise. The hotel is set next to a golf course (great if you want to play a round of golf), but personally I selected the hotel due to the quiet location. However, this hotel cannot be recommended if you want to go out in the evening as the only pub/resturant in the area is 20 minutes walk away, though the food in the hotel bar is acceptable (I didn't try the a la carte resturant) The rooms can be fairly dark and have stone walls which makes them a bit cold when you first walk in (I visited in March but I have also stayed in the summer during a hot spell when the reverse applies and the rooms are nice and cool). However, once the heating and lights are turned on the room is fine." (99311499)

    "I found all members of staff extremely friendly and attentive at all times during my stay. The quality of the room was matched only by the quality of the food in the bar - I did not, on this occasion, sample the restaurant food but look forard to doing so on my nedxt visit.     "It's a well situated hotel with very efficient and friendly staff - but decor firmly stuck in the early 90s - all that is needed is a refurbishment - to include better mattresses and pillows in bedrooms and new bathrooms." (99981008)

    Dated decor, rooms dark, showers need more power, beds very uncomfortable and foam pillows horrid.
