    THE FRIENDLINESS OF THE STAFF AND THE TRADITIONAL FEEL OF THE HOTEL

    THE NEW BULBS GIVE A DEPRESSING FEEL TO THE ROOMS AND THE LIGHT IS NOT SUFFICIENT DURING THE DARKER DAYS AND EARLY NIGHTS. iT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN TRYING TO APPLY MAKEUP ETC

    "Apart from one sleepless night we enjoyed our stay . Most of the weekend was out and about. Would stay again but maybe better quality matresses needed. Pleased with the location of the room and the breakfasts were excellent! Waited on by very friendly and caring staff." (108723073)

    Quiet location , dining room staff very polite and efficient. Good cleaning staff.Room nice and spacious. Good bathroom size.

    During one night ,constant loud noise from central heating pipes behind our wall(room 19) had no sleep. Could do with better matress on beds .

    The room facilities were excellent. All clean tidy and in abundance. Breakfast was very generous and those serving were very pleasant.

    The gentleman that checked me in wasn;t all that friendly,a bit over formal, perhaps?

    Good size room Good amenities

    Given a double room after confirming twice that I wanted a twin room. Room was changed for us but would have been a problem had they not had a spare room available. Room was far too hot even with a fan on all night.

    A double booking was made which left no room for us when we arrived....! We were told that we were to go to another hotel, where a booking had been made for us.

    The staff were friendly and efficient, and everything was clean.

    The fabric of the hotel is showing some signs of wear and tear, though not yet unreasonably so. The doorless wardrobe/storage area, though practical enough, was a bit basic.

    The room was clean and airy. The night reception staff was far more friendly and professional than the earlier reception staff. He explained when I made a query re the earlier management of my card.

    The person on reception on arrival was brusque and unfriendly. He did not explain why he took my card for authorisation and asked me to put in my pin without giving a receipt. It looked as if I was paying twice He in fact did not speak to me at all until I came back to the desk to check on the payment.

    no parking,no restaurant, nobody at the bar, room was ok but situated on the lower ground floor under the main entrance so could hear everybody coming in and out.

    Good online booking process; one member of staff very helpful when dealing with complaint concerning no hot water in our room for our entire stay!

    No hot water in room for entire stay; one rude member of staff when dealing with a refund due to no hot water in our room; no internet connection; really uncomfortable bed!!

We had originally booked for one night only and even though we had made arrangements to depart to another hotel when our visit circumstances changed, we were persuaded to stay by the efficient, friendly day staff so this was particularly disappointing given the visit was personally highly stressful."     Room was excellent seperate seating area to bedroom this was good as we didnt disturb the baby sleeping whilst we watched tv.

    Could do with more parking spaces as there was only five spaces.

    Certain staff members were very helpful. The lounge and bar area were very pleasant. The location of the hotel is very convenient to public transport.

    After my check-in I discovered that the hotel was under renovation. The bathroom light switch was outside the bathroom; unfortunately it also activated another light that shone into the sleeping area. So any late night visits to the bathroom woke other people up. The heating in the sleeping area did not work properly. The only place to put one’s clothes was in a single closet that only partially opened and was full of electrical equipment such as fans. There was no refrigerator to use. Some of the staff were surly and it took four requests for me to obtain a face flannel.

    Large room, quite calm

    Unpleasant check-in process; very haughty and disagreeable; when I produced a debit card to pay for my stay, the staff asked me if I didn't have another card, without giving any reason for this. No smile, very clipped tone, very cursory instructions on how to access my room, no offer to help with luggages.

    The room was warm, which help with sleeping, when sleeping is a nightmare because of bad points listed below. Conveniently central. Renovations make it look tatty.

    The bed is ridiculously small for a 'suite' - 4ft wide is completely unacceptable and it is a good thing we are not overweight because we would not have fitted on the bed. That said, we slept like sardines - back to front because of the miniature bed. The bedroom also was exceptionally small.
