    Music on the Saturday night reverberated through the room and made the furniture and light fittings vibrate, this continued until midnight and we were unable to sleep. Although the singer tried, he was not very good and was out of tune.

    Good central location to visit this part of the UK

    We feel that the resteraunt menu could have had a broader selection and that there could have been a better selection of itmes for a light or continental style breakfast. The bedroom was very comfortable but badly let down by the quality of the bathroom

    Room was lovely, well presented

    Breakfast is only served from 07:30. I needed to leave the hotel at 07:15 to meet with a colleague. I asked if I could just have some toast and a cup of tea. I was told that I could not as the chef wasn't in until 07:15 and there was tea in my room. As I stayed over on a Sunday night the Tesco down the road were not open early on Monday morning. Therefore I had no breakfast which was paid for. Asking for an early breakfast of just toast is not unreasonable.

    the friendliness of the staff and atmosphere of the hotel

    the car parking is very tight at the back of the hotel and the alley way to the carpark was stren with rubbish could have been swept up very untidy and litter loutish

    "First impressions were not good as I had to go looking for a waitress in the restaurant so that I could check in. Room itself was comfortable, clean and well furnished. Had evening meal in the restaurant which was good, however, breakfast service was very poor. Needed to check-out quite promptly but despite sitting at my table for 15 mins I had not even had my breakfast order taken. Other guests seemed to be getting just as irritated by the slow service. Decided that I didn't have time to wait around all morning so left without any breakfast. Check-out was equally poor as the reception was all locked up at 8am and no staff were to be seen anywhere. I felt that an otherwise comfortable and pleasant hotel was spoilt by poor service and lack of staff. Overall, not a bad hotel, but I would not recommend it for business travellers or anyone in a hurry." (97201558)

    Nothing whatsoever was provided at this accommodation that I wouldn't expect as completely standard. No extras whatsoever. 2 tea bags. Poorly working shower. Noisey room. Silly, fall-apart curtains/roman blinds. Un-opening windows on a muggy June night.

    This hotel charged at the higher end of the scale for this location, but provided barely adequate facilities at the low end of the scale. I have stayed in superior accommodation at just over half the cost -

    the bus stop outside created noise from 5.30AM. People comimg back to their rooms at 2.30AM were loud. The toilet cystern failed to refil after the first use in the morning!!

    lovely building, staff very friendly and helpfull, the best food we've had in some time.

    for the top room, as in the 4 post bed, did not expect that this room would be right above the main bar, the noise from the tv and people in the bar was very loud and come staight thru the floor into the room, very disapointed with that.if you arrive late on a busy day, you may have to park in a public carpark.

    For the price overall hotel was adequate, clean and tidy

    We had to wait half an hour for breakfast in the morning as the waitress was late to work, made me late for an appointment.

    "Internet access was poor, we booked this hotel because it was listed as having good access but using dial up via the phone was inpractical and too slow for a business user. There was adequate parking behind hotel,breakfast was good, but evening meals were rather pricey.It woulsd be usefual if room service was available for longer as it ended early." (97267625)

    "The only two main issues that we encountered was the lack of parking so had to park in a local public carpark overnight and when using the hotels iron my partner spotted the electrical connections were very badly damaged, when he reported this though the iron was replaced." (97074609)

    "Insufficient sound insulation, room at front of hotel overlooking street, noisy vehicle woke me up at 05:00. Stuffy room, unable to keep secondary double glazing open to allow ventilation into room, glad it wasn't a hot day. The tea try had cream with a sell-by date of February 2007, and this was May 2007. Not surprisingly the cream had gone off. Breakfast good but the menu said eggs but I only got one. Shower not thermostatic so took ages to get the temperature right." (99769100)

    "car parking was poor On arrival 1 car(a newish one)had been deliberately parked in 2 bays to ensure no one else parked close thereby taking up 2 spaces I spoke to staff they initially said it was a staff member and then later changed their story I was told that there would be a space soon as the Chef would shortly be leaving I slipped and fell in the shower I called the duty Mnager to the room as I did not think there was a bath mat I cetrtainly didnt see one when I looked before entering He was able after some searching to find what he called a bath mat but which in my opinion was not fit for purpose The staff in the bar were very poor Disinterested and seemed more interested in chatting on phone and kept disappearing leaving bar and customers unattended" (99705919)

    The restaurant and bar were very good

    The room was not very good, clean but firstly, right at the top of building with very many stairs that were not easy to ascend. The car parking facilties were not available and as our vehicle is an MPV the contents were six people and they very visible during the main roadway parking area.

    "When I next come to Carmarthen I will happily stay at this hotel again because I found it very good all round. There were however a few minor areas where customer care seemed to take second place. My specific niggles were being asked for my credit card details when I checked in. I had already given them when I booked the accomodation and again when I checked out and paid my bill. I dislike giving that type of information any more than is absolutely necessary for obvious reasons. I was told it was hotel policy. That is another way of diplomatically saying tough. The breakfast service could have been a bit better. It is usual to ask guests if they want more toast when and if the original serving has been eaten. That did not happen on either day of my stay. Yogurts were available according to the menu but there were none on the Saturday; a yogurt selection did appear on the Sunday. Tea/coffee flasks were available on the Saturday but not on the Sunday. I had to ask for tea on the Sunday when the flasks were then brought out." (99341187)

    "Pretty much what you would expect in an old fashioned type of inn. The rooms could do with updating. The decor is all a bit tired but if red carpets and florals are your thing this is the place for you.     "The Boars Head was a slightly shabby hotel that had clearly seen better days. The decor, particularly in the bedroom was very dated, for example it contained stacking chairs of the type generally used for functions. The breakfast was substantial although instant coffee was used instead of filter. The staff in general were extremely friendly although the breakfast waiter was quite inattentive especially as there were so few in the dining room at the time. On the second morning we chose to go across the road to a delightful bistro styled cafe for breakfast, slightly cheaper, superior ingredients, packed with locals (a good sign!) and ....... real filter coffee!"     The room was ok.

    The noise from both outside and the bar below was bad.my wife had to phone down to ask them to turn the volume down as our 3 month old daughter couldnt get to sleep.The traffic and drunks outside until 5am didnt help either.
