    Generally the whole stay was satisfactory to good.

    The place was fairly basic but no obvious bad points

    "Also - I am a vegetarian and I asked for beans on my breakfast and they didn't have anyeven though it was on the menu!! It was the worst breakfast I've had, was very very oily, bit into a mushroom and could feel the oil in your mouth, very unhealthy for this day and age. Also no other option for milk, i.e. no skimmed." (108210567)

    There was no socket for the kettle, near where the kettle was suppsoed to be, so had to unplug and boil the kettle on the floor near the socket, not very good for health and safety.

    "Generally OK for me and my partner. My mum and brother were not content with their rooms - the cost should be cut or the single rooms improved. The landlord could do with being a bit more enthusiastic and pleasant - everything is grudging with him and he bids fair to be Carmarthen's answer to Basil Fawlty. The landlady is very pleasant as were the other staff. But 'happy laughing boy', no, he needs to buck up." (107821141)

    I booked 3 rooms: a twin for me & my partner and 2 singles for my mother (83 and partially sighted) and my brother who is visiting from Dubai. Our experience was mixed; the twin room was more than satisfactory with two ample-size beds, clean, bright and comfortable.

    My mother's and brother's single rooms were dark, cramped and uncomfortable. i saw only my mother's room but it was dark, the bed was small and narrow and she told me next day that she kept knocking into the bedroom wall when trying to sleep. I gather that my brother was similarly uncomfortable. We took the evening meal in the restaurant. Our friend ordered the prawns in filo pastry but battered prawns were served. When she asked for filo pastry, the waitress did not know what filo pastry is. The service was otherwise satisfactory and the meals were good enough. Breakfast was also satisfactory, although if the menu advertises 'Boiled EGGS', it is a bit parsimonious to say the least to serve only one - though when I asked for a second, it came - eventually.

    Evening meal very good a little over priced but nice. Breakfast was very good value for money.

    Very dated and had unclean feel about it. Furniture and decor in room was very dated and poor condition. Noisy being on main road.

    BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE - IT WAS LOVELY SITTING BY THE RIVER

    No windows in the bathroom & it was small,if light was on so was the fan, it was very noisy.

    "The main complaint was that our friends for whom I booked the accommodation did not have their room serviced, they did it themselves on returning at 5.30pm our room had been serviced after a fashion the dirt around the waste basket was awful( it was behind the door which was never closed to clean behind,I fear).One felt the whole place needed updating, very tired looking. Biggest plus wonderful bed and good linen and towels which after all is the most important, we would stay there again if we had to!!" (99350415)

    position, friendly, clean, food served on hot plates

    it was nearly impossible to watch the tv where it is positioned - i ended up sitting on a cushion on the floor! Not easy to get staff attention - no-one was at the bar for quite a while and took a while for some-one to appear to take breakfast order

    coffee/tea ingredients in the room a little mean.( two coffee sachets and two tea bags ) Televison dated and remote unreliable. En-suite poorly stocked with shampoo/soap etc.and not heated.Comments are designed to be helpful as my wife and I enjoyed our stay.

A great hotel for a quiet break just outside Carmarthen, where the town is easily accessed. Also brilliantly placed for visiting the museum, a few good sites and about 6 castles.     A very comfortable hotel with lovely staff. This is very important when female and travelling alone.

    Just, one really, I could unfortunately, smell cooking in my room all of the time which identifies a need for further extraction in the kitchen.

    Overall the accommodation was of a good standard, comfortable warm clean rooms with all amenities on hand. The tea and coffee facilities after a long drive from the Midlands was a welcome sight, more then adequate for a short or longer stay. All this with good food and friendly staff combined with an idyllic setting, the river Cothi on the doorstep. What more do you need for a relaxing break.

    Towel hook on the back of the bathroom door.
