    Staff/proprieters very friendly and helpful - suggested a couple of scenic routes and accommodated special dietry requirement we had forgotten to mention in advance. Dinner most enjoyable - food and wine good value. Room and bed very comfortable. Beautiful, quiet location.

    Colour scheme in the bathroom a bit gairish, shower head sprayed water at some odd angles.

    The food was excellent. Home made bread and marmalade for breakfast. Very welcoming and helpful hosts.

    Highland hospitality at its best -- the owners were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area. I really felt like I was staying with friends! There were loads of paths almost directly out the back door, and a view of Ben Wyvis. There is also a licensed restaurant attached that serves good food in generous portions.

    While I didn't mind in the least, the decor was a bit dated, so if that is important to you, beware. It was also a bit cold in the breakfast room, but the views were great ;-) The hotel is on a main road, but the only traffic at night was the occasional lorry hauling fish from Ullapool. Standard ear-plugs recommended.

    "Check in process was extremely efficient and the manageress was friendly and professional. The room was clean and fairly basic but had everything I needed. However, the walls are very thin - when you can hear the bloke in the next room unzipping his trousers, it's time to get some sound-proofing installed! Also, because my room was on the front of the hotel, there was a lot of noise from the quarry trucks who all seemed to change gear (badly) outside my room from about 6.30am. The food in the restaurant was excellent (try the sirloin steak) and reasonable value for money. Service was good. Breakfast was excellent - freshly cooked, local produce and well served. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay. The manager gave me some excellent advice on where to go cycling. Ride, run or walk up to the top of the mountain in Torrachilty Woods - the view is well worth the effort." (99952526)

    The staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the local area.

    The shower cubicle was fairly cramped but I'm 6ft 3 so this is a fairly regular problem.

    Nice big room with sofa, TV, etc.

    The shower was abit small and weak water stream. but it was adequate. The shower door cabinet was broken.

    The remoteness.. The glorious countryside.. The peace and tranquility of a true country hotel...Would have loved to have spent a few more nights there and explored the walks.

    "The couple that run this inn are very interesting people. We asked for directions to the tourist route, but the wife suggested a different route where we saw the most fabulous views. She gave us a late table in the dining room to allow us more time for our drive. They have two dining rooms. Dinner was fantastic, especially the venison. The chef is the other owner. He kept up a steady banter with the customers, checking in on how everything was and keeping some of them up to date on the tennis matches. Breakfast was excellent, also, with lots of choices. Everyone is made welcome. The other staff members were equally helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. There is also a nice lounge for the guests to use. If we ever get back to Scotland, this is a place we'll stop at again." (3304415438)

    We really liked the smallness of the hotel, its history, and its small town location.

    "For a short stay holiday this was a pleasant hotel in which to stay The Proprietor and his wife and daughter were very courteous and most helpful with a very pleasant sense of humour old world courtesy exuded --if only more people had this great asset.     The accommodation was good perfectly adequate very clean,nicely furnished THIS IS An OLD INN and naturally bedroom was dated in size compared to some more modern Hotels

    Very little really it would have been nice to have a larger bathroom and a bath but this is not possible in older smaller buildings
