    Good room and spacious bathroom. Quiet, although close to centre. No noise from slamming doors in corridors which is a problem we have found at other hotels.

    Decoration a bit tired. Carpet on the stairs was well worn. Mattress was a bit bouncy.

    Well appointed.Pleasant ambience.

    Breakfast trays with dirty dishes still outside rooms on first floor when we checked in at 2.30 pm. Served deliquescing prawns at dinner with inevitable consequences. Breakfast potatoes cold, hard, barely fried.Lacklustre service.

    Staff Excellent - location of Hotel good

    Poor maintenance - floors creaked . Shower did not work - chip out of bath Toilet soap etc not refreshed every day - absence of Tea on tea tray. Telly did not work!

    "The breakfast staff were very helpful to my wife who is recovering from a broken arm, also the barman was very helpul. A lift would have been useful but obviously not always practical in older buildings. Although near the main road and not far from some of the bars in town noise was not a problem." (97799993)

    The executive room was very clean a very good size and, the tv was excellent. The bed was very comfortable.

    "Overall, it was an excellent stay: I had only booked the hotel because it was the only one with vacancies over the Easter weekend, but it was very nice. Unlike other hotels I have stayed at, it was wonderfully quiet and I was very impressed." (97731620)

    The location was very convenient, and very near the town centre. We got back quite late at night, but the staff very quickly let us in.

    The room was quite cold, and the windows had a tendency to fly open in the high wind.

    "For guests staying at the Hotel it is in an ideal place if visiting the area. The coastal resorts and other places of interest are mostly within 30 minutes drive. The breakfast was of an excellent standard and the staff were attentive." (97599177)

    Central to Canterbury and all that, that, offers. It was pleasantly quiet considering it was close to the Ring Road

    Nice room if a little dark . Comfortable bed . Bathroom large and reasonably clean.Good position central to City.

    The young staff in dining room and Reception area were not polite and did not say sorry when I politely pointed out something that went wrong. They more wanted to say it was not their fault. Paper ordered on checking in was not delivered , cutlery dirty , and bacon was plastic and tasteless. One packet of two biscuits in room. Not very generous.

    Reasonably priced, pleasent and easy stay. Very convenient for the town, jsut a short walk took you to the centre. No need to use the car at all and easy parking within the hotel.

    The room was a bit noisey. I'd rather the staff at breakfast at least acknowledge that there is a three year old talking to them instead lf acting as though they don't exist. Otherwise the staff were very friendly and helpful.

    Convenient location; easy to find from the train station.

    Room was undusted, many layers of grime on the television set. Pulled out the bed to find an electrical outlet and found many used tissues: disgusting. Found it outrageous that for a £50 room there was: only terrestrial television; no availability of DVD players anywhere on the premises according to the receptionist; that breakfast by room sevice would have cost TWENTY POUNDS. Was treated with considerable hostility in the bar when I entered in jeans and a jacket with a backpack on my back to look at the bar menu in preparation for the evening.

    The bed was on castors and kept rolling away from the wall. Floorboards exceptionally creaky - another guest in the room above mine was moving about from 6 am and I could hear every footstep Bathroom only had a net curtain at the window - room was in view of the road and I felt as if I could be seen when showering with the light on.

    The accommodation was very close to the Cathedral which was what we wanted as our visit to Canterbury was to an event at the Cathedral. The food was very good, the staff very friendly and efficient. The hotel is very close to the centre of Canterbury and you do not need to use your car.

    The central heating worked fine on the ground floor but not in the upstairs corridors or in our bedroom. The heaters provided could not be used in the bathroom and this was a very cold weekend in November! It was cold in the bedroom in the mornings so you had to get out of bed to put the heater on and then wait for it to warm the room.

    It was central the room was lovely and it was warm, clean and a good size including the four poster bed which we didn't know about before.

    It a very charactoristic hotel with plenty of charm, in an ideal location for Canterbury centre.

    The floorboards are very creeky so not much sleep, there was a wedding with people having domestic fights most of the night.

    It was pleasant with friendly staff and the hotel had a old world feel about it.

    "The hotel is well situated and well equiped for a short break like mine. The facilities are clean and tidy, and every seemed to be working fine. The staff were particularly friendly, especially the young girl on the front desk with the gem on her tooth. The breakfast was cooked nicely and there was a wide variety to choose from. Unfortunately the walls seemed to be a bit thin as could hear people returning to their rooms late at night, but that was no big deal for me. I would def stay here again if I visit Canterbury."     Reception staff were incredible friendly and helpful. Couldnt fault any of the staff in fact. The barmaid and waiter were also top notch. The room was clean, if not overly grand, but it had everything we needed for one nights stay. Nice little walk to the city centre so not too far to carry home shopping bags. Nice and easy to find, well directed from the main road.

    Could hear alot of noise from the next room.

    Great location for city sightseeing. Good value breakfast, served in a pleasant setting.

    We stayed for one night. Our particular room was narrow and would have been uncomfortable for more than a short stay. Other rooms nearby, seen through their open doors, were more spacious.

    Very squeaky floorboards throughout - including ground floor. Several lamps in our room did not function. The towel rail which was labelled 'Take care, very hot towel rail', remained cold for the duration of our stay.

    "It is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The place needs a thorough refurbish; cleanliness is poor and the service to residents practically non-existent. The window frame in our bathroom was so dilapidated I'm surprised it stayed in place. There was no bar after 11pm. My partner had smoked haddock for breakfast which was almost white, swimming in water and accompanied by a scummy poached egg - unfortunately we didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening!"     "Adequate sums this hotel up perfectly. It serves the purpose it says it does, but does not go overboard to impress. There was no-one at reception when we arrived, the bath tap was broken (we needed to use a teaspoon to remove it to empty the bath) and the room was quite small (albeit quaint). Dining room staff were more interested in arranging tables than taking our breakfast order. Given the dining room was already housing around a dozen dressed and vacant tables, I thought this was a little thoughtless. In my opinion, the hotel was good enough for an overnight stay, but purely due to its location. Definitely overpriced. Would probably recommend it, if nothing else was available." (99751549)

    "This hotel is set just back from the main road and is not visible until you pass it on leaving a roundabout. Although I had downloaded a map so knew where to look I still had to double back to reach it, it is, however, well signposted from the roads behind it. Unlike many modern and modernised Hotels it retains its olde worlde charm and one is transported back to old Canterbury when you enter. The staff are efficient and helpful, though finding the room meant ignoring the directions on the wall of on first floor. The ensuite room was larger than most, at this price, and the bathroom was remote from the sleeping area allowing one to make nocturnal visits without disturbing your partner. Being situated at the back we were afforded no views of the city which was dissapointing. The breakfast was enjoyable and set us up for a days travelling but a visit to the bar the prior evening, that of a Friday, at 10:30pm found it almost deserted. We also had to put our bar purchases on our room bill, a practice I am not in favour of, as the staff had tallyed up the cash in the till by then. As a base for exporing the city it is second to none, and access to the main road, when touring the area by car, could not be easier. I have visited Canterbury several times recently, in different hotels, and will be travelling there several times more over the next couple of years and, if I can get a similar room rate, will be staying at this hotel" (3304742296)

    The extractor fan didn't stay on forever after the bathroom light was switched on. The bathroom was in a coridor from the bedroom so one person using it didn't disturb the other during the night. The hotels location is superb and the car parking location was good.

    The view from the window - with such a central location was dissipointed that no view of the wall or city - we were at the back, but someone has to be I suppose. Flor boards a bit creaky.
