    Nette bediening

    Voor het raam van de kamer (3) bevond zich een grote schoorsteen die veel lawaai maakte. Waterleiding zeer luidruchtig.

    Very, very close to town centre. Friendly staff.

    None really. Construction of new Marlowe theatre just across the road, but as we spent most of the time out of the hotel this wasn't really a problem for us.

    "A very brief and enjoyable stay. We were visiting an elderly relative with a relative from the USA in our party who also enjoyed her visit" (108720447)

    The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent breakfast. Teh hotel is very handy for the centre of the city and represented excellent value for money. We will certainly return.

    "Ridiculous lack of attention/consideration paid to customers, considering current economic times. A total lack of investment in the building and maintenance of a potentially good hotel, considering a brand new theatre is being constructed opposite." (108807759)

    Initial reception personable

    Hotel was dirty and badly maintained. The bedroom carpets were soiled. Toilet seat ill fitting. Botched DIY bathroom fittings and finish aweful. Door frames loose. TV loose on bracket. Food was disgusting, particularly breakfast. Manager/owner wore camouflaged combat trousers and black t-shirts the entire time. Staff helped themselves to breakfast juices, apples and croissants.

    Good location, clean, excellent and helpful staff, first class restaurant.

    Not a lot! Very curious position of shower screen on bath in Stour Room meant that you had to stand IN the bath to operate the taps! Room was very warm (but in fairness an excellent fan was provided).

    "Excellent. The hotel is very close to Canterbury Cathedral and the center of town and is also very quiet. The room, being a small single room, was simple but of a good standard. The staff was extrmely helpful and pleasant. I would return." (107925379)

    The staff was extremely helpful and extended themselves when I had specific requests. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Fresh tea service was provided daily. Both cold and hot breakfast were available and one could have both. The food was fresh. The cold breakfast included cereals, juices, breads and cheeses. The hot breakfast was a generous "English Breakfast" with eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, toast, and, of course, good tea. There is also a restaurant serving lunch and dinner and a bar.

    I was in a small single room which did not have a chair so I had to sit on the bed. There was actually room for a small desk chair.

    Nice staff. Good location.

    Room cold. 5 posters in bathroom telling me not to put sanitary towels down the wc or I would be charged £50 if I blocked it. Wc only just adequate to flush normal matter.Took 3 goes. Only one cup of coffee offered at breakfast then waitress not about.Gave up waiting.

    The shower kept going from hot to cold, very water pressure. Not to keen on the type of toilet....almost like a commode

    Staff very friendly and good Listerine’s, also at mealtime were always at hand to assist.

    No bad points (If I mite point out "the pillows were very hard" perhaps one hard and one soft pillow would be better.

    "Our stay was very enjoyable. We do have a suggestion, though, and it is a very strong one, too. Our suggestion is that the hotel provide guests with a telephone number to contact hotel staff in an emergency in the night/ early morning. Under the current arrangement - where guests who are leaving very early in the morning are supposed to leave their room keys on the receptionist's table before departure - a guest who is involved in loading his/her baggage prior to departure can get locked out inadvertently and have no one to contact in an emergency. This happened to us. Locked out, and unable to get all our baggage from the lobby, we spent a desperate quarter of an hour trying to contact a member of the hotel staff. We managed to catch our flight only because my husband found, by chance, a mobile telephone number on a notice (seeking applications from a part-time kitchen help) on the glass of one of the windows. We called that number on the off chance that it might belong to one of the Hotel Staff - and fortunately this worked. If it hadn't, we would have almost certainly missed our flight at Stansted.     Good breakfast, helpful staff

    Difficult to find, parking and location right opposite theatre. Room was extremely hot. Corridoors very narrow. Creaky floors.

    The hotel in Canterbury was very clean, hospitable and represented excellent value for money. The room was functional and had its own TV and Shower / toilet The Full English Breakfast was filling and expertly prepared

    I had initial problems getting a response to my on line queries. The TV in my room took a certain amount of skill to operate, and did not have all of the stations on offer to normal terrestrial TV.

    "from the outset every one was friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was varied and tasty. Parking was secure and easy to get to, the walk back from the parking was just a short distance. Hotel was nice and quiet at night no noise from outside, centrally located, and very reasonably priced. We will be back next year." (97949335)

    "Overall it was a pleasant stay and staff were very nice and I will probably stay again. Selection of food in restaurant was good. As a female it is preferable to have a hair dryer available in the room although as I had brought my own this was not a problem. I would have liked to plug my hair dryer in next to a mirror though.     Not enough wardrobe space to hang a dress, room didnt get cleaned as they had lost the key {I stayed 2 nights} they did offer to clean it when I could let them in but I was busy
