    Great location. Quiet depite proximity to the airport. Clean room. Reasonable facilities. Well priced.

    Some work in the Reception area could have been better shielded from guests - made the hotel look untidy. Check-in and check-out meant a lengthy wait due to lack of staff - 5 minutes wait on check-in about 20 minutes check-out.

    "A good quality hotel for the type of weekend we had planned (visiting NEC for event) The convenience and ease was excellent." (108370307)

    Helpful staff, reasonalbly priced menu and a very acceptable standard in the dining room. Very convenient for NEC and of course the airport. Absolutely sound proof with regard to the later, would not have know there was anything going on outside!

    The only minor irritant was having to go over to the airport to have the parking ticket validated, an arrangement with the company re doing this at the hotel would be preferable.

    The location was convenient, and the Nespresso Machine was excellent it would have been nice to have the capsules refilled for the 2nd night stay fortunately I had brought some of my own with me.

    The first room I was given had not been cleaned, my arrival time was 6pm so there should have been time to check the readiness of the room, Only one towelling gown was left so had to phone down for a second. The evening meal was a big disappointment, We both chose the Steak Pie there was only two pieces of meat in both of the pies and what looked like mince I could not tell whether it was minced beef or just an extra thick sauce as it was very tasteless and with little or no seasoning. The salad had no dressing and when some was offered it was again tasteless as it was mealy olive oil with capers. The meal would have been greatly improved if they had at least served gravy poured over the pie as it was very dry, and the chips were the frozen kind with some not cooked through. We came the conclusion that the chief had been told to cut his cost as even the mayonnaise which I asked for was one of the worst I have tasted for a long time, which was disappointing as I was trying very hard to spice the meal up.

    When we checked in at 0200hrs we were given electronic keys which would not open the door to our room. We went back to reception, explained the situation, and the receptionist very grudgingley made a new key and came to our room and used the new key, retaining the original key in her hand. The look she gave us read "there you are you idiots it does work". We decided that as we were so late in arriving at the hotel that we would not be in a hurry to leave in the morning, however we were woken up early by drilling from the room above. We did mention this to the receptionist when we checked out.

    Good hotel, good facilities

    No warning was given of parking arrangements until I had booked. Recommended parking was at the adjacent aiport carpark £6.00 for 2 hours, £18.20 for 24 hours. This hidden cost was horrendous!

    Very friendly staff from reception through to room service staff. Room very clean, smelled clean! problem with booking dealt with immediately by reservation manager.

    I was ok but there was a queue behind me so perhaps a relief receptionist could be called to speed up booking in.

    Good Hotel, clean, well run, professional, comfortable beds, excellent room, a lots of modern gadgets

    Breakfast was expensive for what it was. Had the continental but limited choice of cereal, cakes/pastries, limited choice of breads. Nothing was topped up and as we were later rather than early i felt we had missed out on some food and staff were not filling things up as they became empty.

    Hotel was of the standard I expected from Novotel

    The standard of the restaurant was absolutely appalling. Whilst I accept that the hotel was full (due to the Spring Fair at the NEC) we decided not to have the buffet dining offered as it looked so sorry for itself and eat from the a la carte menu. To say that the service was poor would be an understatement - there clearly weren't enough staff, and the food was so bad that I couldn't be bothered to waste my time making a complaint at the time. The staff in the kitchen obviously didn't have the time to produce food to the standard I would expect.

    clean, tea facilities

    expensive for what you get, drinks including those in the bar and mini bar were extremly expensive, breakfast should have been included in the price. We obviously stayed above the kitchen so couldn't sleep for the noise.

    Hotel was convientent to airport. Room was very good. Staff at reception and in resturant were attentive

    Recently refurbished room, very quiet.

    Waited about 10 minutes to check in as only one person on desk. Kitchen closed for refurbishment, seemed an odd time to do it so close to the holiday period.

    Room was very clean and tidy.

    Bad access, no car access to door for unloading. TV stations were wanting. Prices in mini bar were quite high. AND I feel slightly insulted by being instructed to check my spelling. WHY????

    Walking distance from the NEC via the airport.

    No parking facilities except at the multy-storey car park which is very expensive, Food and bar extremely expensive for the service received (mediocre food and 20 minutes wait at the bar before being able to order)

    Broadband + entertainment deal

    Failure of internet booking to notify hotel. Despite emailed confirmation, the hotel would not accept that I had a valid pre paid reservation and demanded my credit card. Disgraceful situation that is Novotels problem NOT mine. Argued for 30 minutes before being given a room. Still had to supply credit card. Received phone call apology next day when confirmation arrived with hotel. NOT GOOD enough.

    Excellent position for accessing the arena and birmingham railway stations. Trains to New St on a regular basis. Loved the monorail transfer. Quick and easy.

    No bad points really, apart from the fact if you go into Birmingham at night, make sure you get the last train back, otherwise it costs you
