    "Check in was very busy, but then it's a big busy London hotel. Room was ok - a bit of noise from air-con. Would have liked a mini fridge for real milk with my tea, or keeping drinks cold. But generally a good four star hotel." (107750358)

    Pleasant staff, nicely kept rooms, clean and tidy. Hotel has a feeling of an old hotel - wide corridors, large foyer.

    Quite a queue at check-in but it was 4pm on a Friday evening. Room facilities were good but you could add a little fridge for keeping things cool - a nice idea I saw in a 3 star hotel up the road.

    1. Staff at reception welcoming; girl who booked us in well-mannered, charming and an excellent upseller!

    1. None really, the rooms perhaps need to be modernised, but then the charm of the hotel might be lost. 2. Would like a cafe for snacks/finger food. If there was one we didn't see it. 3. Only one bar of soap in bathroom!

    The bathtub and the soft pillows and comfortable bed were the greatest. After two weeks aboard a cruise ship, the bath was unbelievable. It took a little while to figure out how to make the water hot enough, but the tub was incredible. The soft pillows and comfortable bed soothed muscles made sore by rock hard pillows aboard the ship.

    Instant coffee in the dining room after our first dinner was atrocious. The waitress seemed to be kept busy in the adjoining bar and while friendly, she did not spend enough time attending to the diners. The menu was very limited and quite expensive. We felt there should be a few items more attuned to American tastes.

    Perfect location, clean rooms

    They couldnt find the reservation!!! Waited for more than 45 minutes and then went to a weird room with 2 levels (the bathroom was upstairs). I requested to change and then everything was ok.

    Lovely ambiance and good service.

    My room had a window which let in light persistently in one corner which was impossible to cover with the curtain. I only had 2 hours sleep the first night because of it and I bet I'm not the only one. There was also no additional blanket/quilt which is usual to find in hotels. The Russell is a lovely hotel but needs a makeover to make the best of its unique appeal.

    The hotel is beautyful and I received good help from the conceirece.

    I was given a very dark room with no windows. it is not fair to charge for internet time.

    Nice classic room with Bay Window and good view

    A/c/heater rather noisy. Shower water not hot enough (in the reviews many people seem to say the same: could something be done about it). Many good hotels now provide free internet access in the rooms, esp in USA & Japan etc

    Good room, very nice spacious clean bathroom, good breakfast selection, excellent location (next to train station and within walking distance of many sites)

    Breakfast at extra charge of 20 pounds per day, something i generally don't like when hotels do.

    Breakfast, though this was expensive. Recepton staff willingness to change our first room (at a cost to us. Second allocated room was spacious

    First allocated room was small and very cold. When booking i was told the Ambasador rooms were larger and more authentic. Bill had a room service item on it - we did not order room service andour bar bill was checked and settled when leaving the bar. Newspaper had clearly been read and did not have the Sunday supplements. The second room allocated was very poorly finished - TV reception was poor, sink leakd when tap was on, toilet seat fawlty, shower poorly designed - I couldn't stand under it.

    The staff members were friendly and courteous. Everything was clean and well maintained.

    The waterline for the entire hotel wasn't working so we were unable to shower in the morning. Also, the staff had no knowledge of the area at all.

    "Everything upto entering the room was fantastic, unfortunately the room itself was poor, the room price was reasonable, but a hotel as attractive as the Russell is seriously letting itself down, having rooms which are drab, dated and far from attractive available to guests. On top of which, only luke warm water came out of both the bath and shower, something which I wouldn't expect in a two star hotel, let alone a four star. I would recommend avoiding the standard double rooms if they are all to this standard." (107185092)

    quick and easy booking, reasonable price.

    Room not to standard described by advertising material, beautiful hotel, but the room was two star standard at best.

    "Just like the last time we were at Russell Hotel, we are satisfied during the duration of our stay. Probably, since we consider ourselves as frequent guest of the hotel, hopefully we would get better rates in future?" (107890751)

    Convenient to us as our son is studying in UCL. The hotel's location ia also near to the underground station which makes it easier to travel. The hotel itself is comfortable to stay in, as well as the room. All staff are friendly and helpful

    Hotel's TV should include Sky Tv eg. Sky Sports as I'm an English Premier League fan. Have to go to the pub behind the hotel to watch! The kettle in the hotel is 'dirty & looks rusty' in the inside

    Nice amenities: hairdryer, iron, broadband internet access (for fee), towel warmers, refrigerator, tea hot pot and cookies, phone in bathroom - clean, small room. Supermarket around the corner, walking distance to nice restaurants and the British Museum.

    Shower drain very slow necessitated quick showers, or risk overflow. No place to print out a boarding pass even though I had a laptop & they have computer access near the lobby but no printer. Room was very noisy as it faced the street. If we stayed longer I would have asked for a room change.

    "For a hotel asking the top London rates I would have expected a little more for my money. The restaurant set menu was the best value for money I have expereinced in a long time so made the stay more comfortable. The staff offered no explanation of where to find everything even though I said I had not been to that particular hotel before. The staff were very helpfull if approached though. Always take a printed copy of any internet booking rate and duration of stay!! The decor and security features in the room were calming." (107608363)

    Perfectly positioned for sightseeing. Lovely room and attentive, friendly staff on hand to give advice. Puts other hotels in the neighbourhood to shame!

    Bar costs a little pricey but then this is London!

    Location of hotel - close to all main tourist areas of London. Facilities in room - shower, tv, a/c. Concierge service was excellent.

    Unknowledgable check in/out staff - couldn't answer some questions, weren't prepared to listen, incorrectly processed my credit card payment, definitely some training issues! Bar closed earlier than expected.

    Great location - near everything I needed from the stay! Very plush reception area and grand staircase.

    Room was very small and the bed was tiny. Partner is 6ft 6 and we struggled but a small bed somewhere between a single and double.

    Rooms were poorly mintained:- 5th floor room poor, rucked up carpets, broken taps, no, hot water through bath tap, stained lampshade,room basic (£175/night!!!) Room 119 upgrade was ok but not great. Inner ring rooms have noisy a/c plant working outside.

    Good location: there are a park and underground station nearby, teapot, tea and coffee in the room

    Air conditioner did not work, room faced into internal yard where ventilation system make considerable noise

    for the money i paid i expected to find a bottle of water in my room. considering this was meant to be a special room, there was nothing special about it the water in the bathroom took an age to warm up "The concierge will get you a taxi sir" Well he might have done if he had been there. i got my own

    All in London.com is an excellent site, easiest to use and cheapest rate I found for this hotel. Hotel Russell staff are wonderful, friendly, cheerful and very very helpful.Breakfast was excellent. Room service very fast and efficient.

    Double glazed windows did not keep out the noise of the traffic or the emergency service sirens.. but it is central London! Restaurant not air conditioned so very hot for breakfast.

    Friendly staff. Clean room with good facilities. Great atmosphere with a sense of historic luxury throughout the hotel.

    Balcony door not locking properly due to broken latch - noise from street below for part of the night.

    Great location. Excellent hotel with great & friendly service. Highly professional and smooth. Impressive building and pleaseant rooms, although small.

    The breakfast was not inluded in the room rate and could be purchased at extra cost. There was a number of good breakfast alternatives in the vincity.

    Very handy for theatres and visiting Gt Ormond St which is why we stayed there.

    front rooms very noisy due to traffic.When I asked for room rates to see what type of rooms where available was told they were not available as the rates change all the time.
