    Lovely quiet hotel, loved the location being able to walk into town in the evening and the fact that most of the hotel was old and original, beautiful courtyard/garden area. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

    The staff were pleasant and helpfull at breakfast time

    The reception is only open for a limited period of times for checking in. The room I was given is not suitable for a hotel. The stairs and first floor of the property leans to one side, therefore the bed had to be proped up on one end by packaging of about 200mm. A very small TV (12 - 14inch) with only the basic 5 channels. When the owner was told about the state of the room, his attitude/reaction was very hostile. I was told that if I did not stay, I would still be charged. Menu for the evening meal was very basic - puts you off. The room was not vacuumed at all the four nights I was there. The bath towels were not changes every day, the used towels were folded and put back on the radiator for drying and to be reused again. The room was cold, the heating is switched off at about 10pm and switched on again at 6am. Lighting in the room is very poor, espacially over the mirrors. The extractor fan in the bathroom is worn out and very noisey. The floor boards of all the property creak very badly as people in other rooms move about, you can not sleep at all.

    Very congenial owner. Extremely helpful advice about the local area. Idiosyncratic opening hours for the hotel facilities.

    Breakfast hours a little too short. Tea should be made in a pot with boiling water. Offering a tea bag and warm water is just not good enough.

    "I will not return to this hotel. The tiny single room I stayed in is in dire need of updating. The electric shower didn't work so had to have a basin wash in the morning. The bed was too small for my 5ft 10 inches so my feet were dangling off the end and the room was cold. I don't know how the operators of this hotel have the nerve to let this room out, let alone charge people £65.00 for the privilege." (97724267)

    "the layout of the hotel is wonderful; very atmospheric and quiet. the breakfast area has character and the staff were helpful and accomodating with my breakfast needs and I was given a personal service reagrding the cooked breakfast.     The rooms are at the back off the main road- quiet and comfortable. Although there is a strict non-smoking policy,there were facilities to allow me to smoke without feeling an inconveinience to the hotel, which I respected totally

    the energy saving lights in the lamps by the bed.The tea bags in the room were not of a great quality. Twinings might be a better choice in future

    "The accommodation was simple, but perfectly adequate (a five-star shower!). The staff were welcoming and helpful - especially the young Australian on reception and serving, who was outstanding. He was very clear in his explanations of times, when doors were locked etc., which he gave in the pleasantest manner. He was also very helpful when it came to choosing from the menu. I was pleased to be able to get a good meal relatively late. It was altogether excellent - no luxury or frills, but honest service at a reasonable price." (97101940)

    Quirky, quite unlike the standardised quality of chain hotels. The food was surprisingly good.

    Nothing to dislike. The restrained signage made it difficult to locate in the dark, but it all added to the charm of the place.

    "I found the hotel charming and I would like to have had a leaflet or some information on the history of the building and its association with Bridgwater. This was our first visit to the town. The breakfast was more than adequate and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. It was a pleasure to have a place for our car in a private car park so close to our room. The rear garden was delightful. We only stayed two nights, as we were attending a course, but I would have been happy to stay longer." (97472474)

    The interesting old building, particularly the breakfast room and the well kept beautiful gardens.

    The washbasin was a bit small and it wasn't easy to fill the kettle. There were no insructions for setting the alarm clock. The Hotel was quite close to a noisey pub, but fortunately our room was at the rear and we weren't disturbed, unlike other guests we spoke to. The room door keyhole needed a spray with WD40 as it was quite stiff.

    An old building with lots of character with professional freindly staff. Good quality breakfast served piping hot.

    Having to have a shower with the bathroom door closed as not to set the fire alarm off was a little disturbing as you could not see you hand in front of your face because of the steam. Restricted heating and no air con.

    "Our room was extremely spacious, comfortable and appropriately decorated and furnished. However, it is the only one of its kind in the hotel. Breakfast was individually served and extemely good without being too much. Dinners were excellent with a good choice available for each course.     Comfortable, well decorated, equipped and furnished room. Dinner was extremely good, well presented and served.

    Parking space is limited and access to the enclosed parking area very tight for a family-sized car. The bath-towels could have been larger.

    Our room was a good size. The food was good and the staff were friendly.

    The room would have been luxurious in the 70's! It is in need of serious updating! When trying to have a shower at 2.00pm there was no hot water. We mentioned this to the receptionist and was told there is only hot water during certain times of the day!! Didn't realise we were going to have our water rationed! Not good when trying to get ready for a wedding!

    It is an excellent hotel, well situated for all the amenities in Bridgwater and also for travelling around the surrounding area.

    "The hotel was easy to locate (just look for the church spire) and checking in was easy - although there was a lot of explanation about which doors were open at what time which was a little difficult to take in at first (or perhaps we were just too tired). We had requested, and were allocated, a ground floor room - a little dark and facing onto the pavement. The hotel's restaurant wasn't open that evening but staff recommended the Tudor Hotel a few minutes walk down the road - a good choice. We had never been to Bridgwater before so the hotel's stock of tourist leaflets was very useful. A pity the TV reception was so poor as the volume went from quiet to very loud without warning and might have disturbed people in the room above. Good breakfast - highly recommend the fruit salad. We hope to return to this hotel for a longer stay." (3305190252)

    Quiet location - apart from church bells on Sunday morning. Efficiently run hotel. Friendly welcome and helpful staff. Very clean and furnished to a high standard.

    Very poor TV reception with fluctuating volume and frequently distorted picture. Very, very hard bed.

    "Very much enjoyed our stay here. Certainly good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and keenly interacted on points of interest. If you're looking for something that's not large, impersonal and modern, this is the place for you. The food was scrummy too.     Ambiance, personal service, friendly staff, good food.

    Couldn't complain about anything. Well, maybe the Honey Monster as we nicknamed the person who came in late at night, under the influence, and set off the most almighty clatter when he obviously fell over, or knocked something over, however it was extremely quiet after that.

    "From the moment we arrived to the time we left all the staff from the receptionists to the staff who served us our breakfast were very pleasant, helpful and welcoming even offering advice on places to visit while we were in the area. The room was very well presented and clean and the breakfast was cooked perfectly and was plentiful.     "The room had obviously just been refurbished and painted, as a result it was very tidy and clean. It is also well designed and spacious. Breakfast was very nice, and the evening meal was good value, and made memorable by the most enthusiastic and helpful waitress we have met in England. Our room was directly on the street front, which meant that we heard all the drunks walking home as if they were walking right through our room. This made for quite a noisy night.     "I am not sure I knew what time to check out when I booked and stayed in the hotel, and I discovered what time I needed to leave half an hour before I needed to go! I think it might be useful to make check in times and check out times clear to guests. I felt safe, clean and well rested in the hotel, so I am very pleased with my stay. I think most of what I needed to know I had already been told before I arrived. The hotel is amazingly well placed in Bridgwater, literally it is a couple of minutes away from a supermarket, a taxi firm, a hairdressers, the high street and various places to eat and drink. However, as I have already mentioned the rooms are off the street and feel very safe. Also, I really liked the fact that I could close my room door and put the little catch on to prevent it being opened from the other side. It felt safe and private. I did notice the pretty hotel garden from my window, however, I didn't get a chance to spend some time there." (3304893894)

    I liked how clean my room was and the layout. I liked being able to open the window and air my room. The shower was amazing! So hot and powerful! I liked it a lot! I enjoyed my breakfast and the friendly staff. I loved the beams in my room and the wardrobe, quite an old feel to the room, which was lovely. I liked the fact that my room was in a building a fair distance from the street, as a single female traveller it helped me feel very safe. My bed was comfortable and clean, I liked the quirky platform underneath to keep the bed level due the slanty floor!

    I have no complaints about my accomodation.
