    "We had just come from a very emotioanl and intense family funeral and wanted somewhere lovely for a night to rest, have dinner and recharge ourselves. We picked the hotel solely for it's proximity to the funeral, but we were absolutely to have chosen so well. We will most definitely return - and recommend the hotel to others. " (107902592)

    The hotel was absolutely beautiful - clean, quiet, very helpful and courteous staff and goodsized, comfortable rooms. The surrounding grounds were simply stunning and the face we could open the French doors and sit outside the room was a great touch.

    If being extremely picky, I would say the cleanliness of the bath and sink around the taps and plugholes wasn't very good.

    "I arrived late but staff were very welcoming nad helpful. The room was of a high standard and very roomy. The setting of the hotel is picturesque to say the least and I wish I had brought my clubs instead of a laptop. The breakfast was very good though the service was a little bit lacking in a hotel of this quality. Eg I didn't get my fried bread and I heard other customers having to ask for items. Overall the hotel is excellent and I would recommend it to anyone." (99742443)

    "The dining area was crampted with 2 TV screens showing cricket, the carpet was littered with crumbs, the complimentery daily paper was out of date by one day and although I brought it to the attention of the staff they did not remove old copies. Overall, I found the staff inexperienced, they asked all the right questions but I felt they were going through the motions. This lovely hotel should have been packed, but I think it was almost empty. I stay in hotels in different parts of the country every week and when I return to Whitchurch in January for a two week stay unfortunately, I will not be staying at your hotel. I would recommned the hotel on price but not service." (99792826)

    Large room - well priced

    Room initially very cold. It took 35 minutes for the soup course to arrive, even though I was the first person in the eating area, no other diners arrived - food was very good and well presented.

    "Whilst the building work is understandable the lack of thought to the arriving guest and guest already there de womething to be desired. Having to walk around like you are lost does leave a lot to be desired." (2847980)

    Room was well apointed but let down by the bed being hard and the bathroom showed the rooms age

    Make the menu in both the bar and resturant a bit more adventuious and not stuck soem where in the 70's

    "Staff trying hard but premises being neglected as you proceed toward the new accommodation. Menu looked old fashioned and tired, and surely 21.00 last orders is too early. Play golf until 20.00 have shower and change, it would be too much of a rush. I would like to play golf there and even arrange a society visit from Monmouth, but there are too many problems to make this possible." (2572702)

    Location very good, Staff hardworking and pleasant

    Bathroom a disgrace, cracked tiles, dirty grouting, broken wood panels and ONLY 1/4 ROLL TOILET PAPER. Real ale in Bar was old and sour, no response when I advised them. Look at Espresso coffee machine and offer coffee menu.

    "I have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels in the area. None can compare to the friendly atmosphere of this hotel. The receptionists are very efficient, and the young lady who served us in the restaurant was a delight - polite, curteous and efficient. The hotel is extremely good value for money. It is set in beautiful grounds on the outskirts of Whitchurch, which makes for a peaceful stay. We shall certainly be back." (2341556)

    Room nice and spacious, with lovely view of golf course, unfortunately this led us to beging awaken at 5.45 a.m.due to grass cutting.

    Waiting staff at breakfast could be a bit more informative and friendly.

    "Our overnight stay was very comfortable, all the staff were very good and breakfast was good and efficient. Checking out was very quick, dealt with by a very pleasant lady. Just one problem - the lavatory seat was broken." (2374127)

    A big spacious room with all facilities (except hairdryer)

    Parts of the hotel were looking a bit jaded, especially carpets in corridors.

    "The young man on reception/ bar that night was most attentive and helpful. He provided me with a bar snack despite it being well past the time that the kitchen closed.The best roast beef sandwich I have ever had!! Breakfast was also well cooked withthe choice of contintntal or english with plenty of choice on both menus.The complex is showing its age but when the building work and the refurbishment has been done I am sure this will be an excellent facility.     "I was booked in on a bed and breakfast basis. I would have liked to have known about the golf packages available and the evening meals available. The restaraunt at the hotel was excellent. The food was a delight! The people in the bar were very friendly. The bar staff were very efficient. I found it difficult to locate the hotle. A list of directions would have been useful. I enjoyed my stay, and would certainly consider visiting again when on business, or even for a short break." (1990429)

    "Our stay was good and comfortable which is what I would expect from a hotel in general.I was told the rooms were tired, but that is no excuse for having a dirty bathroom. As our stay was for just one night we did not complain but told the receptionist the next morning, Other than that it was very nice and I would book again in the future.     Th room was excellent value for money.

    On arrival I found it difficult to find the main reception and went in through the locker room entrance. Experienced difficulty finding staff to help.

    "Very pleasant and enjoyable stay. Slightly Cuban effect (former glory atill detectable). Hotel staff could have pointed out special offer meals rather than highlighting the all inclusive meal which we felt we could not afford and so went elsewhere (noticing good offers on the board the next day). Would certainly come again if the price is as good as this stay." (1762307)

    Excellent promotional price and location. Nice facilities and room.

    The general appearance was a bit jaded (formerly rather grand but the pink bathroom suite, white seat, gold worn through on the fittings effect was novel.

    "Generally speaking this was a pleasant stay although on arrival we were informed that the room we had reserved was only available for one night and we would have to move elsewhere for the secod night. Eventually we were offered a room for the two nights but it was smaller and not quite as pleasant as the original. Staff were very helpful; the restaurant extremely pleasant and the food of good quality and well prepared. The hotel was much as we expected and in a better location than we had anticipated."     "The hotel is very tired and needs to be refurbished. The rooms were large but they need to be modernised and the bathroom was particulary bad. The water did not drain easily in the bath, the tiles were dirty, the bath surround was badly damaged by the water. There were bulbs not working in the light fitting, the curtain rail was not fixed to the wall firmly at one side. In the dining room the carpet was needing replaced and the chairs were rather rickety. The staff were very nice and the situation was very good but the whole place needs redone. I'm glad I did not pay the full price, we had a special offer, or I would have complained bitterly." (1539638)
