    "It was ok for one night, we would stay there again when the hotel gets itself a face lift." (107317971)

    Manager was more than helpful, nothing was to much trouble. Our room had a great veiw of the rear garden and the river Lark,

    The bed in our room was very old, if you enjoy a spring up your behind, then im sure you'l love it, the room its self could do with a revamp, plus the bath\shower has seen better days. Full English breakfast was cold.

    very friendly staff and a good breakfast served very promptly. the room was cleaned and made up well

    Having a separate shower and no hand wash basin in the toilet area was a bad point for me, and having only a shower and no bath was also a negative.

    Hotel manager (lady of many years service) was very helpful and welcoming as were her young staff.

    Very noisy room (Blackbird)- needs double glazing, terrible lighting, no glasses for toothbrushes, peeling wallpaper in shower room, faded pictures on walls (why have pictures?)

    Due to illness had to cut short our break. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful particularly in getting my wife an appointment with the local doctor. The hotel staff were very helpful and our thanks to them for their understanding, empathy and helpfulness.

    Fairly friendly staff

    Grubby. Dirty carpet in the shower room. Hole in the bedclothes. No information at all provided on check in - not even told when/where breakfast was. Room didnt represent good value for money and I would prefer a cheap chain hotel to this old, grubby place.

    Friendly staff, room was comfortable, bar was lovely, very friendly and cosy

    Rooms were a bit basic. Food was very disappointing. It tasted fine but was very poorly presented. Because the kitchen staff were Eastern European, they did not understand our complaints.

    Very quaint English hotel. Lady that manned the desk was very helpful and very eager to discuss the hustory of the hotel and area. The breakfast in the morning was very nice. Without a doubt, the best accomodation in that area of the UK. I'll stay there next time.

    Friendly staff

    The shower was like a 'dribble' The hall on the first floor was horribly hot/ no fans or ventilation The en-suite window that we had to open to gain a breeze was near the kitchen fan!!!

    "This hotel was boooked as a base to visit our daughter and family in the area.Before our visit we had no idea what to expect. We were very pleased with the accommodation allocated.ie the coach house,which had all the amenities expected of an hotel plus the independence of, almost, being a self contained flat.We will stay here again."     "The noise from the road was the most off putting thing about the hotel especially as my room was the closest to it, a small investment in secondary double glazing for that room would almost certainly be worth it. The hotel though is a lovely charming old building with pleasent welcoming staff and nice food." (2970338)

    Lovely room with a four poster bed in an oldie world style hotel

    Secondary double glazing! It may be sacrilege to some but the noise from the road was very bad almost as if the road was in the room with you which made what was a lovely hotel somewhere I wouldn't stay again. Also theres no reason in this day and age why the TV's can't be tuned in with a clear picture to all five channels instead of just the three and a half fuzzy pictures.

    The room had a personal touch more suited to a private home - very relaxing.

    The shower was a little inadequate and could probably do with an update. Toilet room door was a little stiff also.

    Warm and friendly atmosphere and welcome. The nature of this accommodation is 'olde worlde', which is lovely but when travelling on business you need something a little more up to date. Lovely place for an intimate weekend.

    Could have a few exceutive rooms with internet and work area, I would be prepared to pay a bit extra to stop at this place if it had these things.

    "As a single woman traveller I found the staff very helpful and courteous.Friendly but not intrusive. The hotel itself is very old worlde with good old fashioned personal service.Set in beautiful grounds. The food was delicious and service was great. I will certainly use this hotel again." (2734571)

    The room was very well presented with lovely fresh smelling linen on the bed.

    Possibly more modernisation of bathroom,but as this is a 16th century building I did not feel it had to be done.
