    The Plough Inn was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in, and we have travelled all over the world! The room was beautiful and the view from the window was superb. The restaurant and the food were excellent and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

    I made this reservation - when I got to the hotel there was no record of my reservation, the staff were fantastic but explained that they have never heard of Active Hotel and then they checked their bookings, double checked and got someone else to look - sadly there were no rooms available but they found a room for us at another 4* hotel at a good rate. I would not be using Active Hotel again.

    Pleasant staff. Good response once technical problems sorted out. Conveniently close to the colleges.

    No help with luggage up many steps. Inadequate parking arrangements (I picked up a £25 as a result). I had to ask about the new use of the room safe and only then was supplied with a key. Bedside lighting inadequate (cannot be positioned to make reading easy). No bran in the range of breakfast cereals.

    I was pleasanly surprised by everything about this hotel. In a country where hotels are often overpriced and disappointing, this was a delight in every way, like a top city hotel but with fields outside the window stretching as far as the eye could see.

    None - I had been allocated a twin room despite requesting a double via your website but they had not received this request. I was moved without fuss.

    We were upgraded without asking. Very bright modern room. Warm, clean and classy. Food in restaurant was very good which meant we didn't need to go out hunting for something to eat.

    Breakfast room looked a mess with every table being uncleared. Waitress seemed very rushed.

    Beautifully clean hotel and room with all the facilities required in the room. Staff were very welcoming and polite without being at all intrusive.The food I ordered was delicious both in the evening and at breakfast. A breathtaking view over the hills in the morning,I arrived in darkness so this was a lovely surprise.

    The facilities were excellent and the staff very pleasant and helpful. The dinner was very good, well presented and the food hot even though the restaurant was busy. The on-going construction works were evident but not an issue.

    We booked an early breakfast which was noted down but the staff forgot to prepare it. Fortunately, we had brought our own breakfast in case this happened. The bill was adjusted accordingly.

    I found the hotel to be very good value for money, quiet and restful. An enjoyable experience. Restaurant attached an added bonus.

    Only one remark to make - shower would have benefited from a 'grab' rail. I found the floor slippery.

    Fabulous food! Helpful and friendly staff. Ample parking. Pleasant views over countryside. Comfortable beds. Modern decor.

    No really bad points at all ... except that there was building work going on at the hotel which caused some noise. And the shower cubicle wasn't watertight, causing the bathroom floor to become wet after a shower.

    The friendliness of all the staff and the excellent choice of menu.

    If there was anything to dislike it was the size of the bath. It was a bit short which cramped me up a bit.

    "The food in the restaurant was superb, and we had no idea when we booked the hotel what a very high standard of cuisine we could look forward to. The location was good, surrounded by the foothills of the Beacons National Park. A luxury start and finish to explre the surrounding area.     The staff were very good and attentive, while not being over the top. The lady at check in was very good as she knew something was wroung with our booking and managed to come up with a good solution.

    Nothing much. The only area needed some attention was the carpet in the walk in area from the main hotel to the bar. Understand the hotel is doing some upgardes in that area so maybe the carpet is due to be re-placed.

    The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food was excellent. I would strongly recommend the restaurant of the hotel.

    Bathroom decor was a little tired, but this is a minor criticism.

    "We chose the hotel by chance from a selection on the web in the area. Their website was not as informative as it might be about the rooms but did offer some good information on their restaurant and the food available (this is important to us). On arrival we were not disappointed - the reception was friendly and efficient. Our room was larger than we have often experienced in similar hotels we have stayed in - having a King size bed and great views across the Welsh countryside. It was clean and the bathroom was spacious and well fitted. Our only complaint was that we discovered that the shower was poor but understand that the bathrooms are to be renovated during the course of the coming year when this problem will be addressed. Breakfast was good with a full selection of hot and cold food. On both evenings we dined in the hotel restaurant and had an excellent meal and wine. We are vegetarians and my partner has specific requirements. Nothing was a problem and everything we requested was provided quickly and efficiently. Most impressive as our first night was a really busy Saturday evening. One small observation was that there are three dining areas - the main restaurant (table clothes etc.), the bar area and another room (where breakfast is served) - no table clothes etc. The menu and the prices were identical in each. We felt that some difference should be applied in view of the different levels of comfort provided. We experienced both the main restaurant and the breakfast area and found no difference in the service. It would be nice if a bar menu was also made available for those not requiring a full meal. All in all this was an excellent weekend" (3305099385)

    The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. I needed a late checkout the following day, and this was facilitated. Also, the food in the hotel restaurant was absolutely first class - I haven't found better quality and value anywhere.
