    Nice, informal athmosphere. Lovely host. Beautiful location. Beautiful, old property. Sweeping views from reception rooms. Well cooked, fresh breakfast.

    Lack of choice at breakfast. No restaurant while we were there. A little expensive for what it offered.

    A very relaxing and peaceful stay. The staff were very helpful and we were made very welcome by them all at Tredethy House.

    I could not fault my stay at Tredethty House.

    A Beautiful setting. That is the only good point.

    Welcome and Checkin - the owner was rude and disinterested, the front door was locked on arrival at 4PM despite the owner seeing us arrive, fortunately it had stopped raining. Rooms - we had 2 rooms - both were dirty, the toilets had not been flushed for weeks, the hot water ran hot/cold in the showers, the duvet was to large for the duvet cover. Breakfast was only served for 1 hour on a sunday morning, 8-9AM, and was poor considering it was not included in the room rate. Service again was very poor.

    "Tredethy House is set on the side of a hill in large and well-maintained gardens. The Hotel is completely quiet and the fact that there are only a few bedrooms means that the number of guests is equally small. A sense of peace and exclusivity is the result.     Excellent view, extremely comfortable and spacious and well-fitted bathroom.

    "This is a great base for day-tripping around Cornwall. Over the Easter weekend we visited the Eden Project, Padstow, St. Mawes and St.Ives. The hotel itself is a grand old house in a beautifully quiet location, on top of a hill, looming over the tiny quaint village of Helland. It is a non-smoking hotel which was a pleasure to be in. The owners/staff are genuinely friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. There are lovely views and walks too. The weather was kind and I enjoyed a walk every morning before breakfast." (99320802)

    Large room and bed, crisp clean linen, good breakfast, perfect weather :)

    TV reception was poor. This is not usually a critical factor but I would have liked to watch the Masters golf.

    "We stayed at the hotel during the change over time from summer to winter bookings. The swimming pool was not therefore available. However there was a bar service every evening and plenty of games left out for guests to use. Comfortable furniture in all areas and excellent breakfast provided by staff who were always cheerful and friendly. Towels, etc changed daily. We enjoyed our stay very much and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to any of our friends or acquaintances." (3305448829)

    Very pleasant hotel with good scenic views and large garden. Outdoor facilities not available at time of visit due to poor weather/end of season. Good library available to guests and lots of pictures historic to the house were hung in the coridors and lounge areas. Owners available to answer any queries and provide information on the local facilities. Lots of leaflets available describing various events/functions in the locality available in the entrance hall.

    I thought the bathroom should have a small stool/seat to assist with getting into the bath which was quite high off the ground and made it difficult to climb into. Also the shower head was fixed at ceiling height and was not flexible enough for a short person to reach.

Most important of all when on holiday - had 4* style (nice toileties, towels, robes) without the hotel feel. Comprehensive tea/coffee facilities in the rooms offering range of teas including herbal."     Exquisite decor, attention to detail,quiet & beautiful location, friendliness & helpfulness of host, central position for everything, yummy breakfast...I could go on!

    Shower not quite contained within it's screen, but it really was very minor.

If you go to this hotel, check out L'estuaire restaurant in Rock (01208 862622) PL27 6JS. In our view Olivier (French Chef) and wife Emma was a nicer atmosphere and better food than many around including Rick Stein's places so don't miss it (say Michel and Svetlana sent you!)."     Evryone was very friendly and the hotel is very pleasant.

    Nothing really, except that we had a very small bathroom. To the hotel's credit they warned us that this would be the case and we accepted to stay there on this basis.

The informal approach to the running of the hotel made it a pleasure to stay here, you knew that people were around to help if you required but you were left alone to enjoy the hotel and it's facilities.     "Staying here was very much like staying at a country house and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We couldn't really have asked for anything more. The quality of the decor and attenion to detail was excellent. It was very clear from booking and from the website that no evening meal was available so that was no problem.
