    "Fine for an overnight stay." (108512530)

    Excellent evening meal and excellent waiter.

    Poor breakfast in contrast to the excellent evening meal. No lift. Hard to get to top floors for those with mobility problems.

    "Great location. Clean room. Poor service at breakfast. Staff were polite but seemed to be to busy to provide good service." (108999089)

    The room was clean and the bar area was nice.

    For breakfast it seemed that the hotel was understaffed. All the tables were full up with pots and were not cleared while we were eating, it took a while to be served and I had to ask staff to provide apple juice as it was empty and croissants as there were none left. There were also no pastries with the chocolate inside. After being served the breakfast we were not asked if we wanted any sauces so I had to search around and eventually found some under a table in the foyer.

    Nice traditional feel to hotel downstairs, and in dining rooms. Good location in town.

    Rather shaby upstairs with worn tired old carpets in the corridors. Room was reasonably furnished but cramped. Noisy plumbing - woken up early when somebody in an adjoining room got up to have a wash.

    Staff was extremely helpful and aware of our needs, even between shift-changes

    Summer prices for a summer destination--can't be helped.

    Excellent service and very good food.Welcoming foyer with space to read, relax, enjoy surroundings.Central location.Parking available.

    Allocated single room was very small. Toilet was miniscule.Noise level on Saturday night was high.

    "what a lovely hotel! when I arrived at 6.30 pm the room had not been completely cleaned. There was no fuss and nonsense when I pointed this out en route to my meeting, they agreed to move me while I was out and I duly returned at 10pm to a lovely upgraded room.     a smallish point - signage to the bedrooms dries up too soon on a tortuous route to the bedroom area, and the same in reverse when returning to reception

    "We had a lovely overnight stay at The George and would definitely visit again and stay at this hotel. The George is in an excellent position and gives an excellent service to its guests. We needed a nice relaxing break and The George was just right and the surrounding area is very beautiful." (97281967)

    The George had a quaint old fashioned atmosphere, very good service facilities, excellent position in the centre of the town & Free parking.

    There was only one thing which I could complain about and that was the musty smell in the room, I couldn't decide if it was the drains or just the fact that it is in an old building. But it wasn't the decor or bedding because that appeared to be relatively new.

    Although not large, the room was comfortable with two large windows and all the facilities that we required.

    The hotel was in the process of conducting some revonations to the corridor outside our room - we were woken quite early on Saturday morning by the builder's radio and hammering...

    "We had a very pleasant stay at the George. There were no negatives except that the restaurant was full and we had no idea that we should have booked this earlier. Maybe this was because it was so nice that people from outside came in to eat. We eventually had a meal in the bar and this was great." (99703015)

    "This is a wonderful old fashioned working hotel. We particularly enjoyed the afternoon tea served in the lounges. The staff in the restaurant were superb and nothing was any problem to them." (99860626)

    The room was comfortable and clean with all the facilities we needed. The brand new HD Ready flat tv was a bonus.

    The amazingly small choice (these days) of tv channels. The slope in floor in the corridor leading to our room. The lack of secondary glazing which allowed external noise into the room.

    "It would have been good if the parking directions were on the website. After parking outside the hotel (which is a limited time drop off point), we were told that we had to go back on to the road system and follow it right round to come to the back of the hotel where the car park was. As we were there on a Saturday night, we didn't bother as the limited time restriction finished at 6pm and wasn't inforce the next day." (99278033)

    The bed was excellent. The room was clean and perfect for our needs.

    Good location, good parking facilities, friendly staff.

    Bath was tiny, so small that you could not sit with legs straight. The grouting was mouldy in places. Room had an odd smell

    "The double glazing on our second floor room at the front of the hotel was totally inadequate to protect us from the shouting (until 4.00 am) and the traffic in the street below.     "Overall the stay was adequate but, from wide experience, for the prices being charged I would expect a lot better. If you like older type hotels this is the one for you but if you want a more modern setting then I would go elsewhere." (99132950)

    Quaint setting. Nice decor downstairs. Friendly staff.

    Facilities were not really up to the standard req. The rooms were dark with door security that would have been really easy to get through. The TV only had 3 channels all of which were fuzzy and the noise from the pipes kept me awake. (I will admit this was due to the hotel being fairly old)

    "Good location and easy enough to find. Parking was a little tight but adequate. Breakfast was very good. Bar meals were tasty and good value for money. No smoking meant no smoking so our clothes didn't smell as a result of our visit." (99879481)

    Our room was clean, fresh up to date decour.

    Some areas of the hotel looked a little tired.
