    "We had a nice time overall. We dined in the restaurant one night and food was of a high standard. The hotel is run very efficiently. The spa facilities are very good and the staff are highly professional." (107597517)

    Restaurant staff were very attentive and efficient. Reception staff were very friendly. The hotel is set in picturesque grounds and it's very pleasant to sit at one of the tables on the lawn by the lake sipping a drink.

    Being a big country house hotel it attracts weddings, so it was very busy at the bar and around the lawn area on the Saturday night - not good if you want a peaceful retreat. Try not to get a room by the road because it is quite noisy (although the double glazing does mitigate this).

    Hotel was very clean & the staff polite & effective. The grounds were wonderful and very well kept. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped.

    TV reception was poor although this was not a problem as we did not watch it much. Noise by other guests attending weddings & other events was an annoyance, especially the fireworks on Saturday night.

    Excellent facilities.

    Room was poor. Shower had a leak, bin had rubbish still in from previous guest, room was dirty in places. Worst one for me having to pay

    Pleasant room and bathroom, nice public areas. Good breakfast.

    TV remote control didn't work. The tea and coffee etc. had not been refilled prior to my check-in. Despite phoning and reporting these problems twice during my two-night stay, nothing was done. I also ordered a newspaper which was not delivered.

    Price was excellent. Setting and overall presentation of the estate is excellent.

    Standing at reception and bar for lengths of time without service. Ordered "24 hour" room service from the "24 hour" menu, to be told that kitched was closed and none of the hot food on the "24 hour" menu was available. Cancelled food, drove to town to get take out - but drinks from "24 hour" room service never arrived.

    bed comfortable. Spa facility enjoyable. Not keen on unsupervised children aimimg conical water cups full cold water around the pool and ladies dressing area and had to tell them to stop. The lady with them made no effort to do so. Pleasant grounds.

    Arriving into a room which had few commodities for making tea or coffee in the room.After a long journey from Surrey, needed one! Opened drawer to find some other person's pair of socks. Only one hall area light working/main living space light had such dimm light that the table lamp was brighter. Obviously minus some bulbs but full of dead flies.Bedside table lamp smashes to bits and the shade to smithereens.p and shade smashed to smithereens. None too attractive. Window catches hanging off and lose screws to catch your arms. All adds to the fun . Dirty streak running down inside of bath, tinged blue.

    Excellent Facilities Fantastic Food and Service.

    On my first visit their Credit Card Reader wasn't working at the reception. Speaker in bathroom wasn't working one time (to be fair I wasn't too bothered about it). Prices are expensive but you get what you pay for.

    "the hotel was full this weekend and we would have liked to eat in the restraunt which was also fully booked, i wish we had been advised at time of booking to book. the same goes for breakfast, i was quite relieved to have booked room only to save queing." (97065736)

    found the hotel on the whole very nice, particularly the size of room and cleanliness.

    room was very very cold on arrival and took quite a while to warm up. we stayed in the stable block and found the noise from the extractor fan (presumably from the kitchen) very annoying.

    "The hotel is well maintained in an historic building with pleasant grounds and some sympathetic modern extension. The decor is tasteful. Not surprisingly it attracts a good wedding trade over weekends. Unfortunately this led on this occasion to disturbance from guests who have been celebrating too much. Lack of sound insulation in the new block where we stayed exacerbated the problem. All staff we met were courteous, friendly and efficient. The bar meals were very good and appeared in adequate if not swift time. Bar drinks prices were unusually high, even compared with London standards. The breakfasts were excellent in a traditional UK hotel style. I'd be inclined to book again to avoid a weekend and try not to drink in the bar any more than necessary. This hotel seems to be a victim of its own success in the wedding trade." (97219241)

    "In general it was very good. The cooked breakfast could be improved. The sausages were awful and the black pudding stodgy. But I supposed that is the joys of being an organic farmer! Used to good food." (99833893)

    Very clean and comfortable. Lots of extras you were not expecting.

    Lots of cigarette ends everywhere. Especially outside the School Masters house where we were staying.

    "As per above ratings and comments the overall stay was very positive. As well as above, the one breakfast I had was very pleasant - good room, prompt service, there was an iron and board (which is always a bonus, I think). The other minor point was that I was unsure if the cost of the breakfast was included, so tried phoning twice on Sunday morning but didn't get a reply so had to go to reception, where I found two people available.     Spacious, clean and very comfortable.

    The only issue was the tuning of the TV. No BBC1 etc. Not a serious issue though as I didn't really want to watch anything specific. But obviously if I had wanted to, I would have had to call someone or try and tune it in myself.

    "The hotel was very pleasant, offering good accommodation for our one night stay. In the restaurant, we opted for the 3 course, set-price, meal. The food was well presented, but starters were a little pretentious;a bit over the top to charge an additional fee for some starters and be presented with a tiny,ornate offering.     "A really beautiful hotel with lovely grounds. Room was fine but we would have liked a view of the grounds rather than part of a wall and walkway. Room was clean and simple with everything you could need. Bathroom was large and the shower could maintain a pleasent temperature. We found all parts of the hotel to be very clean. Breakfast was tasty and substantial. There was a buffet of cereals, fruit etc. that you could help yourself to, and then you ordered what you wanted in terms of a cook breasfast of the menue. The ingredients were all of good quality. All staff we came across were very plesent and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would defenitely stay again if the price was right." (3304721382)

    "I informed check-out that the food was very poor quality and then sent this email to the hotel upon return home: Just a word about our stay with you; the rooms were delightfully comfortable, staff were polite and attentive. Food however was really poor quality and badly prepared. I had what was allegedly 'braised beef' but which was tough and tasteless, it came with mashed potatoes which were equally watery and completely lacking in texture and taste. My partner had pork which was overcooked and it came with what were supposed to be potatoes dauphinois, usually this is a rich, creamy dish but from your chef it was a tiny heap of apparently boiled slices of potato which were undercooked (Most veg will tolerate undercooking but not potatoes). My partner's starter, soup, also was thin and tasteless and (quite inexplicably) came without any bread, when this was queried she was told that they'd 'ask chef', four rolls arrived fifteen minutes later well after the soup was consumed. The cheese board was pleasant with a good selection but is it necessary limit it to 5 very meagre portions? All together; very poor quality indeed. Most disappointed." (3304620122)
