    "A pleasant relaxing stay. Excellent dinner in sister hotel - opposite " (108490196)

    Good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Pleasant, but dated room. Excellent shower, nice clean bathroom.

    glasses were not very clean when we had a drink. Cooking smells rose from the kitchen beneath us into our bathroom.

    Good breakfast. Comfortable bed.

    Internet access either intermittent (very low signal) or unavailable. Very noisy plumbing and bathroom fans. Internal walls in rear chalet rooms very thin allowing noise from neighbouring rooms.

    All staff were polite and welcoming. The breakfast was superb and the meal, with a very high standard of service, at Ruffion's was of top London standards!

    Comfortable beds. Central position.

    We feel that the hotel falls between two stools, by trying to cater for commercial and leisure guests. The breakfast room was very crowded, and we had no contact with any member of staff who seemed interested in who we were.

    "We felt the hotel could be a higher standard for the money and when staying in Wells next time will try another hotel as they all seem to be a similar rate in the centre of Wells." (107583572)

    Staff were friendly and service was good at breakfast and the english breakfast was hot tasty.

    The bathroom needed refurbishment and bedroom seemed dusty in places and we were woken early Sunday morning by the guests in the next room as their bathroom wall was so thin and it seemed like they were going to the loo and showering in our room.

    Staff attitude was good, and we enjoyed breakfasts and one evening meal.

    Room rather small and contained furniture pieces that were too large. The toilet seat would not stay up. Insufficient shelf space in the bathroom. Car park a nightmare. Sash cord broken on window.

    Convenient location. Good breakfast

    Parking very congested. One way system operates with limited possibility of passing. It might be better if the hotel staff allocated bays to guests as they arrive.

    "We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and the staff were excellent. We perhaps were disappointed with the week-end breakfasts for they were not individually served. However, that is just a comment. The hotel is very conveniently placed and you could not have anything that much better. We would have liked a twin bedded room rather than one big bed and the settee made into a bed. However, we were pleased to have been given a room." (99420250)

    The lunches and dinners were excellent, also breakfast on the weekdays.

    We felt that in view of the placement of the room it would havae been been better to have had a power shower rather than a huge bath.

    "I have stayed in this hotel before en route to Cornwall. Wells is a beautiful little city and it is god to know that there is a pleasant, very reasonably priced hotel which is so convenient for visiting the main attractions of this City." (97665007)

    The hotel was very convenient to city and had a view of the cathedral. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and well equipped and the tariff very reasonable.

    The decor was a little dingey and dated but this is reflected in the very reasonable price of the accommodation

    Excellent service by Staff.

    We were very disappointed by the decor of an old coaching inn. The restaurant was completely out of accord with the building. We were very surprised that it was a privately owned hotel because we initially thought that it had been bought by a 'chain' and decorated accordingly. The menu looked good but the restaurant set-up did not make it at all inviting. The bathroom door didn't close so we had no privacy and the noise of the extractor fan was terribly loud.

    "Excellent on-line booking facility, spoilt by poor decorative order and out-dated accommodation. Period hotels can still keep their grandeur and traditional roots without having to resort to keeping 1970s or 1980s decor. Overall the location and superb booking system lifted up my rating to 'adequate'." (99747204)

    Central location and easy on-line booking.

    It didn't look as if the accomodation had been decorated for 20 years. Room 2, had a musty smell and was opposite a kitchen preparation area, not what I would expect on the first floor of an hotel.

    it was in the centre of Wells

    the property is very old and so is the furnishings. A friend with us did not have towels and there was no hairdrier in the room.

Might have been helpful to know from website information that hotel's restaurant closed on Sunday evening when we booked - but in the event, directed to associated restaurant across the road, where we had a very enjoyable meal, so not a problem.     Clean, pleasant. Comfortable bed. Everything we needed in the room. Quiet location.

    Electric shower difficult to regulate for temperature and to adjust for height, and very noisy.

    The location was perfect right opposite the cathedral in the centre of Wells

    In a delightful position, within an aeasy stroll of the Cathedral and Bishop's Palace. The hotel is physically old and tired -- but to a large extent this is its charm. It is not yet old and exhausted -- but no doubt maintenance costs are considerable and, in time, will hit the quality of the accommodation. But, for the time, The White Hart is a splendid example of an English country town hotel. The staff were welcoming, enthusiastic and efficient. Dinner was good. Simple, well-presented and cooked as asked for. There is little ill to say about the White Hart. In fact, we've stayed in worse four-star hotels...

    The room smelt musty and damp so had to leave the door open as often as possible as no adequate opening windows. Not very pleasant to be in. Walls so thin you could hear other occupants talking/snoring!
