    "Excellent....." (108323122)

    This was a beautiful room with sitting and dressing areas. We loved the 4 poster bed and were allowed to use the laundry facilities (free) and milk was always available in the frig for our tea/coffee. Breakfast was wonderful with many cheeses, fruits, cereals etc. We always had a hot cooked breakfast as well. The 2 cats and dogs were a joy. The grounds were magnificent as well as the many antiques and room furnishings. Staff couldn't be more gracious and accomadating. We stayed an extra night because we loved it. We would definitely visit again.

    Location was excellent as was the food along with a real luxury feel to the stay, would certainly stay there again. Lovelly to wake up to the sound of sheep and nothing else.

    Room was chilly in the afternoon and could have done with the heating on, shower not up to modern standards but ok.

    "Very quiet location, beautiful old home very tastefully decorated. Beds very comfortable, laundry facilities available for own use if required. Pack light as some bedrooms two flights up.     "The hotel was much older, bigger and more beautiful than imagined. Unfortunately we were just stopping over on the way to Glastonbury so arrived late and left early but managed to stay for the yummy breakfast. The grounds looked lovely too but due to our schedule and the rain we didn't get to walk around them. Definately recommend staying here." (99590224)

    "The setting was extremely nice and quiet although within walking distance of the town. Beryl had some nice touches with what appeared to be antiques in abundance. Facilities within the room and bathroom were of a very high quality and cleanliness was excellent." (99555934)

    "I would have appreciated knowing food facilities and times.We arrived by taxi from the Bath & West Show at the hotel at 7PM having driven by horsebox from Colchester, Essex, for 5 hours, thus we were very tired and hungry. To be told that there were restaurants in Wells where we could eat would have meant ordering yet another taxi." (99123751)

    "Much more stylish than the typical B. & B. or small hotel. It was fun to browse around and look at the furnishings and ornaments. We liked the privacy and feeling of being in the country, whilst being quite close to town. Very good value.     Loads of character,pleasant change to get away from modern plastic accomodation.

    The traditional style. Furnishings, decor and cleanliness to a high standard. Breakfast. Food and arrangements. The attention to detail.

    It was very quiet. I thought I was in the only guest until I came down to breakfast. Had it been available dinner could have been a similarly interesting experience.

    "Breathtaking country house, set in beautifully kept grounds with amazing views from every window. Whole atmosphere from staff was very welcoming, felt more like staying with friends.     "The house is truly lovely and the staff welcoming. The room was wonderful and included a four poster bed, which we loved. We even had the adorable house cat Clementine wandering in our room to give us a greeting and a sixty year old parrot welcomes guests near the front door.     "I would have liked to have known about the breakfast arrangements and how difficult the actual hotel was to locate within Wells. We had to ring the owner up because we would have never have found it on our own." (3304087842)

    the lady who ran the place was very welcoming and the accomodation overall was of a very high standard. It was nice to have an honesty bar system in place.

    We really didn't like having to sit round the large table to have breakfast. Not only were the other guests complete strangers to us, but they were all snobs and not the kind of people we would choose to socialise with. We found we rushed through breakfast to get away from them as soon as possible.

    "We booked the hotel anticipating a place of some interest, rather than a more standard style, and we were in no way disappointed. Approaching the hotel through Wells was slightly confusing, due to limited signposting in the city. Even having established the actual location we found it easier to approach the hotel from the east via the B3139." (3304243304)

    Room and general decor was interesting and not run of the mill hotel style. Although the weather did not permit maximum use of the grounds for walking, the potential was clearly there.

    The Location.

    Lights leading up the lane to the hotel would be an improvment but it was lovely.
