    The facility is lovely and our room had a beautiful view. Food was excellent and very pleasingly presented.

    Wine and water glasses were never changed nor cleaned the entire time we were there which I have never encountered in hotels or B&Bs. This is a very bad point.

    Very good breakfast.Attractive, traditional, good quality furnishings in general areas.Very clean.

    Parking difficult. Single bedroom very small and furnishings/paitwork tired. Not made clear when booking that the room had private bathroom and was not en suite or that the room would be in a separate annexe. Strong smell of curry during evening very unpleasant, apparently another guest had brought in a 'take away'.Ancient TV.

    "I would not stay there in the future if I were trying to catch a flight out of Bristol. It would have been more convenient to have stayed at the airport and that is what I would do in the future. I think that for a long term stay and a typical English experience this would be an excellent place to stay. It appeared to be full with many couples who enjoyed their stay so I am likely an exception to the type of guest who stays at this particular hotel. I should have considered this when I made the reservations." (107794858)

    The setting was lovely and very traditional.

    As a single traveler I felt very uncomfortable as it appeared to be mainly couples staying there. I also had a very early flight and breakfast was therefore not available as it is served at 7:30. While they attempted to accomodate me this is really not the type of hotel to stay for catching a early flight.

    "Very difficult to think of a single one good point. Even the breakfast was disappointing. The porridge was very salty, the fried eggs were hard, the only nice thing was the home preserves. The whole place is badly in need of redecorating. If you are offered the 'Blue Room' you may expect it to be small, drafty and dirty with an ensuit cupboard. The bath towel smelt musty and the shower was totally inadequate. " (107564503)

    A very warm welcome was extended by the owners, Mr and Mrs Tasker, who did everthing they could to accommodate my wishes. The room was elegantly furnished, warm and very well equipped with little extras which one does not necessarily expect to find in a B&B, as opposed to a hotel:sewing kit, homemade cakes, generously-stocked hostess tray, toiletries in the bathroom, as examples. The breakfast was both delicious and copious, and it is unusual in my (extensive) experience of staying in B&Bs to see such a varied and generous breakfast menu.

    Welcoming, organised, broad choice for breakfast covering my vegetarian needs.Piece of home made cake in my room.Home made jam, marmalade at breakfast. Very friendly lady of the house. Hot water bottle in my bed. Breakfast at a time to suit me. Attractive and very clean.

    Lots of personal touches to the room eg corkscrew, hot chocolate, buscuits. Breakfast was very good and proprieters were superb - left me alone but were very helpful when my taxi didn't turn up - they ran me to my appointment them selves!

    Only bad point was a very noisy guest/family member who banged up and downstairs til three in the morning!

    "For convenience excellent. Friendly owner although I felt as though I was intruding in a private house and hence was not really at ease. The inability to get away from obnoxious people at breakfast due to only one table was not a pleasant experience." (107857127)

    Excellent location and beautiful house. Friendly owner. Good breakfast menu.

    Very rude couple at breakfast spoilt the experience as there is only one big table hence I ate breakfast as quickly as possible to get out of the room away from the strained atmosphere. Light did not work above the bed so had to use main light only.

    very polite, efficient, clean, good food, great (quiet, picturesque) location. Excellent management of limited parking arrangement when the hotel is full.

    Just a suggestion - juice is given without having to ask, but why not put it out on the table and save yourself a trip from the kitchen with three jugs for every arrival at breakfast :-)

    Excellent location, lovely room with windows on 3 sides. Lots of extras in the room which made it a very comfortable experience. Wonderful breakfast choices

    Choosing breakfast the minute I arrived - the night before is fine but on arrival was a bit sudden! The shower was not great and breakfast colleagues were silent which made communal eating a bit of a strain

    "Directions for finding Downs Edge from the M5 were foolproof. Our bedrooms were comfortable, clean and thoughtfully furnished, with so many personal touches. Downstairs there is a large sitting room for guests, with big sofas and newspapers. Downs Edge is a home with a sense of family history and we were made to feel incredibly welcome by our host. Breakfast was excellent with the best selection of homemade marmalades and preserves I've seen. I was initially a bit nervous about sitting around the same breakfast table with a group of complete strangers but it was actually very enjoyable but could be awkward if everyone were to munch away in complete silence! Another nice touch was that we each had our own front door key so felt at liberty to come and go at will." (97720314)

    There were so many personal touches in the room - a wide selection of books, tea/coffee tray with homemade cake, a sewing kit - everything you could possibly want was provided. The bed was so comfortable with lovely sheets. Good lighting. Immaculately clean

    Limited parking space. Quite difficult to find even with map as road signs around Bristol not brilliant.

    Accommodation had a lot of character. A very traditional British ambience with antiques reflecting the owners personal taste everywhere. Breakfast was superb.

    Perhaps bathroom was a little dated and there was not a lot of hot water.

    "It was a great pity that our first impression was made by the owner who at first appeared quite grumpy, no welcoming smile. We were immediately asked to order breakfast before even seeing our room. Our room was up two flights of stairs and I was not offered help to carry my bag, mind you I was probably younger than he. As first impressions are so important I would recommend that his wife does the greeting, she is charming, and he should stay in the background!" (97506972)

    It was a very comfortable bed and the room was adequately equipped with tea and coffee facilities etc.

    As we were in the attic room there was no view of the lovely garden

    "I wish they would put a bigger sign on the road, because it took me 2.5hours to find the place. I was impressed by their service, the woman is motherly, felt like i had gone home. Another point is they need to increase their telephone lines, it was difficult to reach them. Overally if you want a homely environment plus a good breakfast, this would be the place to go to. Try the homemade jam." (97705272)

    The food and their service was impressive. Very clean, keep it up.

    I was put in a sinlge room even though i had booked a double/twin room. Layout of the room was not the best, my bathroom was across the passage, not ensuite as was promised. The couple gave me a refund of £5, thank you.

    "The atmosphere at Downs Edge combined with the impeccable service made the weeks long stay a very pleasant experience. The morning's breakfast was delicious and satisfying and was promptly served. I found the beds to be comfortable and the rooms to be warm and well maintained. The furnishings down stairs were a bit worn but fit a period look. This Bed and Breakfast was a welcome change from the normal hotel / motel experience and I would not hesitate to stay there again. Getting to know the couple operating the facility was a joy as we engaged in several conversations giving a human touch to the experience. I found that I had much in common with the couple and very much enjoyed the time that I spent with them. They have a lovely home and family. If they are ever in the states I hope that I can be as kind and accomodating in return." (97419099)

    The service of the staff. They went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay very pleasant.

    The water pressure in the bathroom was a bit low. It made taking a shower an interesting event.

    "On arrival we found it hard to find the hotel and when we called, the housekeeper was unable to give us directions. As it happens we were in the right location, but because the house is slightly off the main thoroughfare, it was difficult to locate. I think the staff should be able to direct visitors and also to book people in effectively." (97346391)

    Really good very comfortable and we had the freedom to come and go as we pleased. The breakfast was first class with a large choice to suit all tastes. As we wanted to go to early service on Sunday the B&B kindly gave us breakfast early which we appreciated very much. WIll certainly stay there again.

    There was just one small down side our breakfast milk jug had several huge cracks which was a bit off putting.

    The breakfast choice was tremendous and what I actually chose was excellent.Also,very friendly and welcoming owner/staff

    Crowd of elephant footed guests coming in at 01:30,although to be fair,this can happen in any hotel.Also,the cleanliness of the room could have been better. Carpets not vacuumed behind doors(especially bathroom)and dusting skimped(thick dust in corners of bedside cabinets.
