    Town centre location. Convenient parking.

    Room was small and in need of refurbishment, as was much of the hotel. Maybe this is planned following the completion of the new extension.Poor service at breakfast, probably due to understaffing

    Friendly service and food when available was good.

    Returned to Newcastle Emlyn on Sunday evening, after an exhausting excursion, to find there was no catering provided. Not only in the Emlyn Arms but the whole town.

    Food was excellent

    bed was poor uncomfortable pillows poor room was shabby grouting in tiles around bath need cleaning generaly the room looked and was drab and needs properly cleaning.

    hotel under fefurb rooms needs updating. had to move room as shower had a load of mold on sealers and the telly went wrong. The room i moved to was much better

    "We do appreciate that work has started to repair the hotel(and wish the current hoteliers every success)but the current general state of decoration had a marked effect on the ambiance and atmosphere during our stay. " (107385183)

    The room was clean and the bed both comfortable and warm:However,It was not very welcoming and was somewhat dour.The restaurant was well decorated,service and food good,although,in our opinion,over-priced. New hotelier and staff most accomodating.

    The Hotel is in need of radical refurbishment:evidence of cracking,peeled wallpaper and carpets outside main area showing signs of wear and in need of a commercial clean.

    staff were pleasant when they appeared

    Staff not readily available, left waiting at reception and at breakfast (also not given toast as stated on menu, then had no one there to ask for it). There had been some sort of mishap with maid duty as we had to return the tea service upon discovering urine (!!!) on the tray, although our room rate was reduced to make amends. The battery was low in the card machine so that the transaction was processed 3 times - although payment only taken once, I was left

    The hotel did not appear to be busy despite the number of rooms were available.

    I was booked for a single bed room but was given a family room with two other beds. This did not bother me as such but this limited the room availble to me. No bedside light was a minus. A limited selection of cereals was availble.

    Staff were generally keen to help - we were very pleased that they used Welsh in their workplace. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast - once organised (see below), was fine, black pud excellent.

    Staff seemed very young, and were not always immediately available. We were in the breakfast room just after 8am on the first morning - and were left to our own devices for far too long, and had to aask for juice as none was available. The coffee was lukewarm. 2 Butter pats were not enough - no offer of any more, no offer of preserves or marmalade - in fact, there did not seem to be any marmalade to offer. A request for a Grand Marnier liqueur could not be met, and very nearly became transposed to Aunty Maria (Tia Maria)! but fortunately was caught in time!! Should have been asked/warned that our room could be used as the fire escape - some people do not choose to wear nightclothes - consequence was that we were not as relaxed as we would have wished to have been.

    Excellent food. Nice friendly aspect. Lovely traditional 'feel' to the hotel. Nice towns and beautiful countryside around. Near ferry. Attentive staff.

    Broken light fittings and some unsteady furniture. Unsteady shower fitting. Hotel needs a good make-over (from the decorative and maintenance points of view) but care would need to be taken not to 'modernise' it too much! A bit pricey considering the decor.

    Hotel itself needs decorating, it looks like it is falling to pieces. Otherwise it was clean, and friendly. Our room was like walking into an icebox, but when asked heating was turned on straightaway, hot water in the bathroom was slow at first.

    "We had a room at the front of the hotel and it was very noisey (being a Saturday evening, the noise from the pubs/clubs went on until 2pm). The room was clean, but not very nice. Getting the broadband internet going in our room was tricky so we had to resort to using it in the lounge. The staff's knowledge was stretched on the day we happened to be there.     There is secure broadband internet access here, which was useful. There is a varied menu for evening meals served till 9pm.

    The hotel has changed hands recently and is undergoing some changes. We missed the house wine of the month, purchased by the previous manager. The coffee is still not as good as at other hotels where we stayed this week.

    "This was the third time we had stayed at the Emlyn Arms Hotel and previous to this stay we had no complaints whatsoever, in fact we recommended it to others. The major source of complaint on this occasion was the dreadful evening meal that we had, it was cold and most unappetising, considering we had chosen one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. We complained to the waitress and the duty manager came to see us, he immediately apologised, offered to replace the meal and said that we would not be charged. It was a pity the meal was virtually impossible to eat as we had travelled some distance that day and was looking forward to this meal being the summit of our two and half week holiday in Ireland on our way home to the West Midlands. We paid for our drinks and that was all we were charged. On checkout the following morning, the manager came and again apologised profusely, which we accepted, and no doubt we shall stay again at the Emlyn Arms Hotel on our next trip to Ireland."
