    The staff were friendly and efficient

    I have a thing about showers. The nozles on the shower head were partly blocked. Although raised with the housekeeper a visit from the maintenance man did not improve the performance of the shower. It is so important to regularly clear the nozzles on all the shower heads in the hotel. I am quite sure that I would not have been the oly guest that had this problem - it is a common one in most hotels. There should be no excuse for this at a hotel of the status and quality of L'Horizon.

    Everything was perfect, the room had a superb view over the bay, the food was excellent and staff very friendly.

    Room was very warm even with the heating off but this was easily remedied by opening the balcony doors.

    "We have stayed in Jersey before and although we stayed in super hotels - we have never revisited them; we always wanted to try somewhere new. We will definitely be coming back to the Hotel L'Horizon however; St Brelades Bay is spectacular, (the hotel websites' photographs do not do it justice), and the room we stayed in faced south so we had sunshine all day on the balcony. The rooms are well sound proofed - however, one evening we did have a child next door who started to scream loudly - the sound escaped through to us via the locked interconnecting door - closing the door to the bedroom which led through from the small hallway, (where the inconnecting door was sited), and the bathroom solved this however and we heard no more immediately. We ate out each night - we can recommend Jambo's the Chinese Restaurant which is near the hotel, the Boathouse in St Aubins Harbour and the Old Smugglers Inn at Ouaisne Bay, St Brelade. The Hotel provides a Sunday brunch which includes comprehensive self serve buffets for a traditional Sunday lunch and also large amounts of seafood including oysters and crab. Unfortunately we appeared too late for brunch on the Sunday we were there and they were about to start to put everything away but my husband chatted to, (I assume), the head waiter and he had a large platter of a fabulous roast beef dinner made up for me and a large platter of fresh seafood made up for my husband - he then set a table up for us in the bar. Afternoon tea for two is also recommended - you may however not want to eat for several hours later - it is delicious and rather extensive! All the staff made a great effort to accommodate us all and were always efficient and friendly. You can also have access to the internet if you so wish, (we wanted to check ferry sailings to and from Sark)- the receptionist will give you a login code which will allow you a set amount of time to surf.     We stayed in a Superior Ocean View Room - fabulous views directly over St Brelades Bay from the big bed and also the good sized balcony. Staff were very friendly, attentive (but not overly so) and helpful and really tried hard to make your stay enjoyable. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were well appointed.

    The only thing I would change would be the force of the water coming out of the shower - everything else was perfect.

    The hotel staff were very accomodating and the hotel itself was beautiful. Very much like to come back and stay.

    We didn't have a sea view, and the all wires behind the TV (showing). Although this would not put us off staying again, its the only negative comment I can think of.

    The possition so close to the sea, room was very comfortable a clean

    shower flooded floor, but seems a common problem as the same thing happend at the Grand!

    "Fantastic hotel. Beautiful position overlooking St Brelades bay; very quiet when we stayed during end of December. Wonderful in-door pool / jacuzzi with stunning views overlooking the beach. Plenty of off street free parking. My only complaint would be that the main restaurant was our only choice during our 2 night stay over new year - leaving us with no where to eat on New years eve as we did'nt have tickets to the hotels function."     Very nice in land facing room re-furbished room.Quality fittings and attention to detail. Super comfortable bed, pillows and duvet - the best I have ever experienced in a hotel room ! The room also appeared to be very well sound proofed as I heard no noise from neighbouring rooms. Cleanliness in the room was excellent - no mould or others hair in the bath area etc.

    Poor water pressure, but this seems to be common on the island, Plasma screens in bedroom overheat therefore need to be reset frequently

    Very clean, really pleasant staff, comfortable rooms.

    We booked a double/twin room which was presumed to be a twin, this should be an option rather than presumtions made. It was however changed on arrival without hesitation.

    "Lovely hotel and very grateful to be upgraded to ocean view on arrival. However, my sister and her husband were allocated to room 323 which was very poor by comparison. The bed was small, room cramped, TV cables protruding from wall and small TV on floor (further reducing floor space), broken shower, armchair blocking wardrobe on arrival... Although she did speak to reception about her disappointment, no discussion took place. The receptionist simply said oh and said that a maintenance man would attend to the shower, and this did get fixed later that day. Sadly this did mar our holiday, and my sister does not seem keen to return to Jersey in the future. I did offer to swap rooms but they refused. Instead they shared my room by using the balcony, shower and ocean view for the few days that we were there. I would recommend the hotel ocean view rooms but warn them about my sister's experience with the land view alternatives." (2819721)

    Wonderful ocean view and balcony! The bed and pillows were very comfortable.

    The pianist was good but I think that a little more variety with entertainment would have been welcome.

    "After bieng impressed by the standard of our inland room,i was discussted to find the sea-view room that i had upgraded to for my parents was appalling.The room smelt awfull,there was plaster hanging of the wall there were stains on the carpets and also bed linen.After cotacting reception i was told it was Luck of the draw. Also whilst at breakfast the waiters/waitress got our breakfasts wrong three times and the head waiter just shrugged his shoulders.Now surely the L'HORIZON shouldnt be like this.This is not what i was told by freinds and certanly not what i read in the broucher."     The downstairs was clean and in modern design

    Clennliness through corridors was poor (cups/jugs/plates etc)left in corridors for up to five hours during the day.The olderpart of the Hotel i thought was disgraceful due to wallpaper curling up /badly scratched painted sufaces / carpets threadbare/staines through landings.

    "We enjoyed our stay at L'Horizon, but some people might feel that the fairly elderly clientelle was a bit off-putting. The public areas were very pleasant with plenty of lounges and bars. Even though there was a wedding taking place whilst we were there, it never felt too crowded." (2622344)

    The situation of the hotel was excellent - right on the beach. The room was very comfortable and the staff extremely efficient. The large indoor pool was an added bonus.

    "L'Horizon is positioned perfectly on St Brelade's Bay. We had a room overlooking the beach which is the best place to be if you want to hear the water lapping on the beach at night! St Brelade's Bay is smaller and quieter than St Helier - but definately in the best way possible. It seems to be a great retreat for families trying to get away from it all. The long, wide sandy beach provides ample space for everyone to relax, have some fun and is safe haven for children. The water sports provided somehow manage not to intrude noise wise - but offer a break from the huge amount of relaxation that can be done here." (1990137)

    Absolutely loved listening to the waves on the beach at night! The spaciousness of the bathroom. HAving a balcony on the beach.

    The staff looked as though they were working as fast and as hard as they could but seemed to be overwhelmed by the amount of customers - particularly at lunch time on the balcony.

    "The only proplem that my wife and I had was that we were in a room over looking the front entrance that was a little noisey in the early hours due to other quests a little shall I say happy returning to the Hotel and leaving after a function, do like to sleep with the windows open.If you value a good nights sleep the the front entrance should be avioded."     Great Location, good facilities, friendly staff and an overall confortable atmosphere

    Some of the bedrooms have recently been refurbished and are excellent. Our friends were in older rooms which were good size but a little 'tired' and could benefit from a refurb also.

    Excellent location. Quality of the room and fittings was excellent.

    The hot breakfast was not very hot (loudly commented on by Jim Davidson who was staying at the same time)
