    Room service staff were great.

    Room too small and stuffed with furniture - no room to move around. No TV reception. Half a roll of toilet paper and three tissues in the box! FRESH fruit salad was certainly very tired - about 36 hours tired. Strong smell of chlorine from the pool over the passage. Thick gravel to pull suitcases through. Dusty old artificial flowers in a vase - better without. NOT 4 star status.

    Well presented venue. A bit cramped for lounge facilities. Great location for exploring the area and a hop over to France. Pool, Gym facilities great.

    We had two rooms for a joint booking but one was superior to other. Not what I would call 4 star more 2 - 3. Very high bar prices. Only fixed a la carte menu also not of 4 star quality and pricey for the selection. Everything was at an extra charge.

I would suggest that someone finds out why our booking was mislaid as it could have been a cause of major disappointment.     Hotel location and facilities were excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was overcooked Saturday but perfect on Sunday, different Chef perhaps?? Great choice as well.

    They had no record of our booking even though we had booking confirmation and number. Luckily this wasn't a problem as they had a room - just as well!!! We were upgraded to four poster bedroom which was lovely although the bathroom was a major disappointment. Bath very small and shower pathetic, certainly didn't justify the price asked for this room and would have been cause for complaint had we paid full price for it.

    Staff are experienced, friendly, competent, helpful. Everything we needed was provided; every question was answered. Food in this hotel and in its sister hotel down the road is tremendous. The gardens are beautiful; the site is peaceful and full of song birds; the hotel is fabulous; the spa is a pleasure. Very highly recommended by us.

    A couple of the light fixtures weren't working, and, even following the maze of electrical cords, we couldn't get them all to work.

    Overall very nice place and setting with good facilities

    Staff seemed more interested in large group arriving than other guests. Quality of dinner was a slight let down considering the reviews and premium price for a hotel dinner compared to London eating. Room was less impressive than pictures implied, should make it more clear rate vs. room pictures. Also electric shower was very poor and noise from a pump in the bathroom feeding another room was highly intrusive. Steam room was broken also when we stayed and we were not informed they entry code on the key was for the Swimming pool area which would have avoided confusion at first. Policy for taking towel from room to swimming area would also have been useful.

    Breakfast choice was great! The smoked haddock poached in milk and butter was fantastic! The conservatory, where it was served, was wonderful.

    A bit too much oil on the vegetarian dinner (fennel and red peppers with rice). My massage was okay but routine.

    "We chose this hotel through the Good Food Guide, and were pleased with our stay there. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food delicious and good value. Our suite was very comfortable, and unexpected! It is in a lovely location, which no doubt looks better when visited in the summer. The pool and spa looked nice, and I was sorry not to have brought my swimming costume." (97902234)

    We were upgraded to a lovely big suite, which was a nice surprise. All very comfortable and with good facilities such as flat-screen TV.

    The walls were surprisingly thin - the light switch in the room next door was right by the person in the left of the bed and resulted in a lot of noise.

    "We have stayed here before and like the ambience of the place. The staff were very helpful although the check in lady, whilst very pleasant, did not seem to know a great deal about how things worked. When booking, I had explained that we would be leaving early and asked if a packed cold breakfast could be provided.I followed this up on check-in and was told that the lady did not think they provided such a facility.     Very good room, lovely old house, nice people.

    To be picky: for breakfast, the dishwasher could have done clearly a little better job - one or two cups/forks had still minimal reminders (a brown colour mist somewhere in a cup, a litte piece on a fork). Possible one could enlarge the coffee pots, they do currently deliver exactly two cups of coffee.

    "The hotel was a superb place to stay with everything you ever needed for a relaxing stay. All amenities were excellent and very modern and the small gym and swimming pool area were outstanding. Although we did not stay for dinner on the night, the menu looked excellent and the breakfast in the morning was very good. Would definately recommend a longer stay to enjoy the whole hotel facilities. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much bother." (3304761209)

    The accommodation was comfortable, spacious and very well laid out with a separate lounge and changing area. The en-suite bathroom was everything you would have expected.

    Absolutely nothing; except the fact we had to leave when we did.

    "Overall, we had a very pleasant stay with excellent food and helpful staff. A minor problem with absence of shampoo was dealt with quickly and courteously - and we were given complimentary wine with dinner! Hotel is easy to find and convenient to both Dover/Folkestone ferries and Eurotunnel. The antiquity of the charming buildings means that there might be problems for those with limited mobility."     "We spent one night at the hotel in order to recharge our batteries while my parents looked after our baby for the night. It was the perfect place to completely unwind. The hotel is in a beautiful area close to the sea, with great spa facilities and an excellent restaurant. We will definitely go back." (3304123852)

    Nice comfortable room, lovely setting, great leisure facilities, excellent food and comfortable lounge.

    Some room for improvement with check in/ check out process.

    "Being a country house hotel would nornally mean it was located within it's own grounds . This however is located on a major road, and with that , feels like a expensive travel lodge !" (3304251404)

    I would have to say that there was a over-all lack of a relaxed feeling to the hotel , formality from the time you checked in till the time you left . I wouldn't choose to stay at the hotel again , but would look fora real country house hotel

    "If we had not experienced the receptionist unhelpful booking in, and I may say even on checking out the same receptionist was sour! and her customer service skills were sadly lacking. We would have more than likely stayed again as the other facilities were fantastic, I would hihgly recommend the leisure facilities and the rooms...just make your book in on the receptionist day off!!"     Rooms were lovely, the leisure facilities were excellent, dining was very good.

    Unfortunately, the one thing that let this hotel down was the receptionist...she never smiled or made us feel welcome and was most unhelpful. When we advised we did not need an evening meal as we were meeting friends she made it obvious that she was not happy about this.

    "Location for the eurotunnel is not ideal - need to leave at least extra half hour to get to tunnel terminal. Front facing rooms are quite noisey as the hotel is also used as a spa leisure centre for the locals." (2630949)

    THe accomodation has an old world charm about it.

    The Hotel could improve on it's in room facilities - i.e. the showers in the four poster rooms need renewing

    "This was for us ( sadly ) just an overnight stay, but our experience was thouroughly enjoyable, both Claire and I stay in Hotels faily regularly and so perhaps have higher expectations when we book a hotel for liesure purposes.     "The hotel excelled our expectations as the location and layout enabled privacy and a sense of home comfort. We were pleased to find several activities available to us (Boules and croquet) in addition to those advertised. Service was quick and simple. The only negative point was the cost of the bar which we felt was excessive especially for standard drinks, however we felt that the food was excellent value." (1435712)

    "I was looking for a nice relaxing break with my partner for our anniversary. I'd been to St. Margarets Cliffe before, but just to the beach and really enjoyed the calm environment. The hotel had just as much of a calm environment, with a very warm and welcoming feel. The buildings and surroundings were so pleasant from the busy life of London. I already have, and will be, recommending this place to anyone looking for a short break away." (1338845)

    The facilities were fantastic. The breakfast was lovely. The staff were very warm and friendly.

    I didn't enjoy the dinner very much....not enough seasoning on the food. The dessert however was very nice.
