Position - close to the railway station and to the Historic Dockyard. The room was large and comfortabvle with a view over towards HMS Warrior.

A very good location,a free parking,a very nice breakfeast and the receptionnits were very pleasant and helpfull.
The standard of cleanliness could be improve, the shower's hose was leaking, the room needed to be refurnished. The television was not working.

"Sorry Keppels Head Hotel; you just need a BIG facelift before we would stay again." (108899173)
easy to find, car park at rear (used road instead - was more convenient) enormous room - high victorian ceilings. Had booked B+B and, as we were getting 7.00 ferry, were able to help ourselves before normal breakfast time
was obviously once a very good hotel - now needs £sssss spent on it to get it up to any semblance of modern hotel. Desperately needs the Hotel Inspector Toilet was loose on wall, carpet threadbare, shower dripped. Lift was ancient No air con, so had to have window open all night - unfortunate as room overlooked Portsmouths' bus station AND the 24 hour Bacon Buttie Cafe - where all the taxi drivers and revellers hang around all night. Probably the worst ever night in a hotel 'cos of this. Co-op supermarket next door was useful as hotel did no food apart from breakfast

"Very enjoyable, hotel ideally positioned" (108989422)
Staff were very helpful, Liked the secure Parking, Breakfast was very nice, service very good, overall very clean.Very good position for Museums and HMS Victory and other places of interest. Good Value for money
Some areas of the hotel do need decorating as paint is peeling in places. In the room that we stayed (11) The wallpaper looked quite new but it seemed as though the paintwork wasnt done at the same time. If the paintwork was renovated this would make a tremendous difference to the hotel
