    "This was our first night away on our own, without our children who are 6 and 11. We were attending a friend's wedding and wanted to make the most of being on our own. The final straw was when the fire alarm went off in our room at 9am on the Bank holiday Monday morning. The staff were pleasant enough but we didn't get an apology about being woken up when we checked out." (97678093)

    The general appearance of the hotel was lovely. The reception was light and airy and the smell of fresh lillies that were on display smelt gorgeous.

    The receptionist didn't explain how to get to our room very well, and so we ended up in a restaurant with our luggage and clothes on hangers, and luckily asked another member of staff who showed us the way, saying that more signs were needed. Not a good start. Our room was ok but could have done with a more thorough clean as there were noticable cobwebs and dust on the carpets behind the easy chairs. There were no tissues and only 3 teabags on the welcome tray.

    It was the narrowest supposed double bed ever, but it had to be to fit into the tiny room. Restaurant food was good but menu very limited

    Excellent location

    Poor room/hotel condition. Broken aerial socket, mould in shower dirty carpets, room decor very poor, all lights not working, plaster broken away from around dimmer switch exposing mains wires.

    Crisp linen, soft pillows and excellent mattress. Quiet and efficient Receptionist. I rate Macdonald's staff;this was a Macdonald Hotel but I didn't realise that from the Web site or whilst booking.

    Great Staff. Great service. Very accomodating staff and very helpful.

    The shower had some sort of discoloration in it(mold?). Looked like it needed bleach. The internet wasn't reliable. Needs a booster. I stayed in Room 2. No instructions on how to retrieve message. None of the staff knew either.

    "The hotel was very pleasant and beautifully decorated for Christmas. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was delicious and service in the restaurant was excellent. However the room on our arrival was cold and considering it was the middle of December and very cold, the heating should have been already on. Also the tea/coffee stocks were low and inadequate and considering the cost of the room I have had better in a cheaper hotel. This apart it was a pleasant hotel for an overnight stay or weekend break." (97553781)

    The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Staff very helpful and efficient.

    The room was cold on arrival and took quite a long time for the heating to work and warm the room. The tea/coffee making facilities could have been better stocked.

    "We were aware that this is a popular Hotel for weddings and functions and did expect that it would be noisier than it was. The breakfast was exeptional and we were very quickly served." (99199251)

    We found the room very quiet and peaceful

    In view of the cost we shouldn't make any comments - however we found the wardrobes surrrounding the bed a little disconcerting

    The room was clean and comfortable, with everything needed for a pleasant stay. Kettle in the room was excellent.

    The room was classed as a double, but it was two singles on a double frame, this meant there was a weird lump in the middle of the bed, not very comfy at all! The shower was a bit weak, but for a one night stay perfectly adequate.

    "The online booking was easy and the staff on arrival and end of my stay very nice. When advised of the faulty light and hot water it was attended to straight way. The hotel is set in a lovley part of the Chiltern's with a good golf course just over the road from the hotel. This with interesting visits in the local area and easy access to London made my stay very interesting and welcoming." (99823383)

    Room was nicely set out and welcoming, the booking in was easy.

    The light in the bathroom was not working and the hot water took a while to come through.

    "The location of the hotel is really good for sales people who have to cover London and the SE. Central London was very easy to get to and yet the semi-rural nature of the hotel makes it a very pleasent place to stay. The value of the room was good with the exception of the above complaint which is a pity. But first and foremost I'm buying a good nights sleep which I did not get." (99017087)

    My room was not sound proofed. My neighbour insisted on watching TV until 3.30am and I could hear every word through an ajoining door

    "The first night we ordered room service and apart from it being very expensive mine arrived first and it was cold and my partners followed ten minutes later. The first mornings breakfast we ordered lightly boiled eggs, you could not even get your knife in the yolk they where so hard, on the second morning I ordered toast and it arrived covered in mould.     "The Menu for dinner was not very inspiring - So little choice. There was only the daily menu but no A La Carte menu. In the end my colleague and I decided to take a taxi to a good Italien Restaurant a few miles away. You have a very good receptionist, helpful pleasant able to answer all requests.     "A very comfortable hotel, the bedroom being thoughtfully designed, cool, quiet and restful. There was excellent food with an imaginative dinner menu very well presented.     "Looks as if this hotel was once a 4 star, but has been busted to 3 star! Nice, friendly staff, although hotel in general was very quiet (we were three of probably only 12 people at the hotel). Need a car to get anywhere, it's on the edge of a very small village just outside Hemel Hempstead. It had nice grounds will lawns for kids to have a kick about with a football.     "Getting the room as a special offer (£50 including breakfast for 2)meant it was excellent value - not sure we would pay £145 for the same pleasure. Having said that, we had a really enjoyable stay and we would love to go again. One thing to note is that the restaurant is closed on a Sunday night, which we were not aware of when we booked, but there is a decent room service menu. The room was bright and airy and we could not hear traffic or other noise. It was very peaceful." (3304181116)

    It was in a pleasant location. It was clean,tidy and welcoming. The facilities were great. Food was really good.

    Poor T.V picture quality. Back missing on remote control - batteries exposed.

    "Very poor accomodation as described above. As I said I booked a superior room yet whilst at reception I overeheard a couple asking if they could upgrade to a superior room and were told that the hotel was fully booked and so it was impossible. I was surprised when they then went to the hotel room next to mine - giving me the impression that my room was bog standard and that I'd been ripped off. Breakfast was farcical. Ordered Haddock and eggs - No haddock. So then ordered Bacon, eggs and black pudding - no black pudding but apparently I could have a sausage instead." (2972504)

    Nothing at all - I'd supposedely booked a superior room and if that was it I'd hate to see what the others were like. TV did not work properely and the bathroom radiator loooked like it hadn't been turned on in a hundred years. Mould around the shower base and generally a very tatty room

    "We stayed at The Bobsleigh Inn for one night as a business stopover. Generally the Hotel was quiet but adequate for one nights stay. We did not try any leisure facilities, but i noticed on the web site that the pool was out of action. I personally found the restauraunt only had a small choice and a little fancy for my liking, although the food was excellently cooked. The Breakfast service was a little disorganised and the plenty of the tables had already been used and not cleared. Generally the stay was comfortable and satisfactory." (1885456)

    Only one minor issue the Newspaper delivery in the morning was a bit hit and miss.
