There was a bit of confusion caused by the receptionist on arrival. Although we had paid online the hotel receptionist had no record of it and asked for another credit card to be used a security on the room. The matter was eventually sorted out upon departure and the record of our original payment was located.

"Best hotel this year in UK" (107978882)

Beautiful old house. Upgraded to excellent suite. Large quite good views oover countryside. Very good food

A bit hard to find but signed well from main roads

"The hotel is well situated for all major roads to York/Leeds and the A1. Staff were friendly. The overall standard of the hotel was good. Bedrooms were comfortable and large may be need a refurb or brightening up." (99696183)

The Authentic Castle and grounds. The food was excellent

Bedrooms a bit dated, carpets were a bit jaded. Bed covers were a plain throw could have been better

"A warm welcome and friendly staff made this stay special. Magnificant surroundings and comfortable rooms. Coming from a customer service background and having worked as an NVQ assessor I have high expectations. I was not disappointed and indeed the level of customer services throughout the hotel and restaurant was a credit to your company. Special thanks to Steve for his insight into the history of the castle - he was attentive without being obtrusive - a rare talent these days." (3305121331)

the privacy and cleanliness of the hotel was exceptional as well as the restaurant food!

some bubble bath would have finished off the fantastic bathroom.
