    Easily accesiable from the main thru road, friendly, exceptional food.

    There is some noise if you stay if your room is above the bar - it isnt bad, but if you wanted to avoid that, then you would need to ask for a room away from the bar.

    Excellent food, would certainly stop for dinner anytime inthat area. Public ares also excellent inthe hotel.

    Booked a superior room but not given room as requested. Room quite crampted and needs tidying up paintwork damaged on furnishings Outside area untidy dirty and full ash trays on tables. Extractor fans were noisey from the room at night.

    Loved the hotel, our room was lovely and the staff were very friendly. If we stayed again would ask for a room at the back

    Unfortunately our room overlooked a busy road and on the Monday morning the Situated on a busy road & lorries started at ½4 on Monday morning. Found the food in the restaurant very good but would have liked a bar menu as we only like plain food so had to have steak both nights and we are not big meat eaters.

    Lovely staff, very clean, super food.

    Wrong sort of room provided. When we asked to change we were told they were fully booked, which was clearly untrue. The TV got terrestrial and ITV3 which I don't consider to be the 'terrestrial and choice of satellite programming' in the description. The instructions on how to get there were frankly the worst I have ever experienced - we found it by sheer luck.

    Clean room, serviced daily, good food and well presented, nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff

    Peeling paintwork, curtains need a wash, long wait for order to come from the kitchen, ran out of certain things on the menu, not enough milk containers supplied in the room.

    No soap in Bathroom, breakfast a shambles and table not properly laid up. The minute piece of black pudding was an insult and the extra charge for non resident breakfasts was not explained beforehand.

    Hotel was very clean, exceptionally easy to find. Excellent staff. Room was tastefully decorated. Breakfast good value. Good parking area.

    Quite pricey. Entrance after midnight was difficult and badly lit to the rear of the property. To get hot water from shower was difficult as you did not want to disturb other guests so the tendency was to stop turning the dial when the loud knocking noise occurred however you had to get past that to get the hot water. Disappointing as one of the reasons for staying here was to have a hot shower instead of staying on the Bath & West Showground. Late return was due to end of conference agenda in evenings. Pricey.

    "A great place to stay, sadly let down by the food. The menu had a very limited choise (unless you like steak) and my homemade burger seemed to have been thrown onto the plate with no thought to the apperance whatsoever. The dessert was the same, I had the trio of puddings which consisted of a Lemon cream mousse, a summer pudding, and a compleatly tastless chocolate mousse. The lemon mousse was very nice and seemed to be sat on top of a sponge base, until I took a bite out of it and discovered sadly it was a inch thick slice of lemon! The least said about the breakfast the better, good coffee let down by uncooked bacon and cheap sausages. Overall I would recommend this hotel due to the good rooms and pleseant staff. If you want to eat however, I would try the big fish and chip restaurant down the road!" (97042002)

    Spacious

    No Bath soap! Bottle soap firmly attached to wall over sink and shower. Stated that there was body lotion, but none found!

    "Excellent. The hotel was in an erxcellent position close to the Glastonbury festival site. The room was large and comfortable. The staff were freindly and very helpful and no- one minded us turning up covered in the infamous Glastonbury mud. Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had. The food was al la carte but in an informal friendly atmopsphere - just perfect. Excellent wine selection. This was the perfect way to do Glastonbury in style if youre not a fan of camping. Id love to go back just to stay for a weekend break and visit some of the local attractions." (3305250176)

    The room was very well furnished of a good size and was spotlessly clean. It had everything for a comfy stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was a very relaxing environment.

    "An pleasant stay all-in-all except for a young man who kept us waiting to be seated in the restaurant for our evening meal, seeing to and seating other customers before us, even though we had arrived and ordered first. When I asked him if we could seat ourselves he replied very abruptly 'Yes, in a minute'and kept us waiting further until I asked a waitress to seat us. The curry was also over-priced at " (99765689)

    Location of hotel was good. Room was good. Comfortable bar area with good range of food and drink available before the late evening.

    "The Thatched Cottage is a lovely place to get away from it all. We stayed here the night before a visit to Longleat which is only 20-25 mins away in the car. The food is excellent and the room was clean, nicely presented and functional. We enjoyed our stay here. The town of Shepton Mallett was disappointing although Collett park (which is just a few minutes walk from the hotel) was nice." (99119340)

    Lovely clean room. Had room on front of hotel, but road noise did not bother us especially as it quietened down at night. The food was excellent.

    The bed was exremely comfortable.

    Tea stains down the side of the cabinet where bin was situated. The staff were very busy and after 2 requests for milk (there was only 2 milks on arrival) I had to collect myself. Vegetable curry was not particularly appetising, I did not like chip potatoes in it, normal potatoes are preferred.

    "Found the booking through arrival and stay to be straightforward and just what we required. Staff eager to help and advise. Information in the room very detailed and easy to access. All questions answered but information already on hand so not much need. Room large and roomy with plenty of storage. Warm and comfortable with more available if required. Would have been an extra to know whereabout your booked room was situated (booked in advance) but not essential by any means as all rooms of a similar standard if information correct. Nice to have a room adequately furnished but not overdressed. A great stay and we will be back D.V." (99684335)

    Loved the history of the Inn, the food was excellent and the staff so happy to please you and your requirements. Happy to alter to suit us.

    "This is the 4th time we have stayed here and love it. Only criticism is that it is on a main road and traffic noise can be intrusive.     "The route provided by yourselves was very good, pleasant drive from London,which took appx two and half hours.The location of your cottage though on the main road was [in our view] quiet, it provided easy route to Wells Cathedral and a visit to Clarke Village,and other main sites of interest. We took some walks to the village [but the weather changed for the worse second day]. The general appearance of the reception and layout of both the bar and seating area [lounge] was very comfortable. Our Room was very pleasant, but lacked one easy chair.Prior to our visit your website gave us adequate info." (3305152922)

    The staff were excelent,polite, and willing to help,not overbearing,but able to be available when needed.You had new staff who were also willing and provided excelent qualities.

    As we are new to staying in b/b we cannot realy compare with other geast houses. The only problem was that we could not obtain radio from the t.v, this was reported o he housekeeper, who verified that there was a problem.but the matter was unresolved.The light over the mirror did not work. but these in my oppinion not worth the fuss.W could have done with two chairs, there was only one provided.

Room was very good - underfloor heating very pleasant surprise!; bathroom clean; bed was very comfortable - my husband and I had an excellent nights sleep. Food in restaurant was very good; wine list extensive and not too pricey; staff efficient but not overbearing and overall the restaurant had a very relaxing atmnosphere with no dress code.     The Thatched Cottage was very conveniently located in Shepton Mallet and close to many attractions. The food in the restaurant downstairs was very impressive and good value for money. The bedroom was clean, beds comfortable and the bathroom was practical and beautifully decorated.

    Quite close to the road; which was unexpected. The road was a little noisy at times. Closing the window cut out the majority of road noise.
