    Magnificent hotel, beautiful views, good value on 3-nights-for-price-of-two, well situated for strolling around Saumur.

    Breakfast a little overpriced, although there was an excellent choice.

    Very pleasant room overlooking the river. Very helpful staff. Good breakfast.

    Not much sitting lounge type accommodation downstairs. Limited bar facilities.

    "We were given a room at the Loire side , nice vieuw but a very noisy road right in front of the hotel, the cars are literally driving under your window, which we had to have open since the rooms are very small and hot (no aircon either), we were hot and sweaty and did not sleep at all. The next day we were given a room at the back which was even smaller and again hot and stuffy.Both rooms had a sort of grandma style (1950's) furniture The bathrooms are also very small the shower cubicle is almost impossible to even turn around in, and no soap dish or small shelve on which you can put your shampoo!!!Maybe if you book 1 of the more expensive rooms it may be better but you will always have the noisy road if you want the vieuw or the stuffy no airflow rooms at the back. However the staff was very pleasant and tried to help as much as possible. In our opinion this hotel needs to change/update their rooms a bit to give more value for money." (99915782)

    "This hotel is excellent value for money and, being an old, tastefully renovated building, gives a feeling of authenticity with the large fireplaces, staircase and huge beams. The view of the chateau right outside your bedroom window is fabulous and the bedrooms are clean, comfortable and ours was spacious. The courtyard is beautiful and is a great, quiet, space for reading or an afternoon drink. The best aspect of the hotel however is the excellent staff - they were friendly, helpful and efficient at all times. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone." (3305146615)

    The staff were excellent - friendly and efficient. The hotel itself is beautiful, especially the courtyard and living room. The view of the chateau from our bedroom window was inspiring and the bedroom itself was clean, comfortable and spacious.

    "I would like to have known about seperate charges for breakfast and the car parking which I found to be unecessary. The hotel was well situated and the rooms well appointed. The staff were both helpfull and courteous." (3304603386)

    Very courteous and helpfull staff. Well appointed rooms. Good ajoining restaurant.

    Car parking charges were unnecessary. Tea and coffee facilities would have been usefull in the room.

    Bedding was old. Bedspread had a burn hole from cigarettes. Also room was very noisy and it was hard to sleep as it was on the main street.

    "We would have liked to know whether our romm was quiet or noisy or smoking. It was a smoking room but didn't smell like one. Otherwise a lovely hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast although 10 Euro's each extra." (2194826)

    Hotel was sympathetically renovated 17th century and had a romantic, traditional atmosphere unlike modern plastic boxes.

    Rooms at front directly over road by lakeside. We asked to change to quieter room at back but it was a bit small.

    "The hotel is an elegant 18th.century house, well-situated between the river and the chateau. The room was well-appointed, clean and comfortable. There was a well-furnished and comfortable sitting-room, and a pleasant courtyard. The staff were always available, very friendly and courteous. The breakfasts were good." (1322619)
