    Clean, well maintained and great location

    "We very much enjoyed our stay at the Mercure Bords de Loire and would definitely recommend it; it was excellent value for money. We chose the superior room and it was well worth it - a lovely, very generous sized room with superb views to the Chateau de Saumur. The breakfast was also very good value for money with lots of choice and everything was fresh. We would have no hesitation to come back to this place." (108822839)

    excellent location; superior room was overlooking the river towards the old town with magnificant views of Saumur Chateau; close within walking distance to many bars and restaurants; excellent breakfast with lots of choice; plenty of parking facilities in front of hotel and in car park just around the corner

    "Very good 'pit stop' hotel fofr those heading South. Saumur is a beautiful old town, a short stroll across a lovely stone bridge across the Loire, with restaurants and bars aplenty. The Hotel is quiet, clean and comfortable - and mercifully free from the yapping noise of teenagers' mopeds which makes many French towns no-go ares for us to stay in." (99305238)

    secure parking; bar and reception area. Room smelt of disinfectant both times we stayed. Only one pillow; two required and better quality. Fabulous views over Loire and Saumur. perfect location

    "Good hotel for a stop off to explore the local area especially local vineyards. We thought it was comfitable and excellent value." (99937725)

    The hotel has an excellent view of the chateaux across the river. I would suggest paying a few extra euros just for this. Although we had been informed that the restaurant would be closed we were pleasantly supprised to find it open. The food was of excellent quality and varied

    The rooms are small and adequate for a short stay. We went in April and the weather was quite hot. There was no air conditioning and I think guests may find this uncomfortably during very hot weather.

    The hotel was in a lovely position next to the river and the view from our room was fantastic. The hotel was very convenient for the town centre. There was a good choice for breakfast. We noticed that dogs were allowed in the hotel which we will find useful for future visits. The room was very clean.

    The only thing I noticed was that the bath had been repaired, in a rather unsightly way around the plug hole, and really needed to be replaced.

    "The hotel is a tidy well run establishment with friendly helpfull staff. In my view the hotel is a mid range hotel with little character but it has great views, it proved to be a good choice for an overnight stop on the way bach to Le Harvre." (3304931053)

    The hotel is situated on the banks of the Loire with great views across to the Chateaux and walking distance (10 minutes) to the town centre and its many great restaurants.

    I have no reall dislikes, however there was no air conditioning in our room and it needs it, we visited in mid July.

    The location was excellant within easy walking distance of the centre of Saumur. The hotel needs air conditioning and upgrading.Our room was on the ground floor and too near the public footpath for privacy. I would return again but book room on a higher level. The staff were very good

    "the location was superb, & even though we didn't pay extra for the river view, the room over the road caused no problems with noise, as very minor road. Parking was ideal underneath room.     "In general our stay was very pleasant. The manager remembered us from our one night stay in May which is rather impressive. The Restaurant was advertised as being both smoking and non smoking, which was untrue, as it was all non smoking. We only ate there one night but mostly because the food was only just ok.     "Very good location on the Loire, great views from our room.Good breakfast, excellent evening meal. An essential requirement for our trip was a garage for our motorcycle. The parking bays were very large cobblestones so we could not have used the garage, had we not found a large cardboard sheet in a vacant bay. We must stress that this would not cause a problem for a car." (1338491)
