    "Apart from the shower and the noise at night the hotel was very nice, the surroundings were beautiful and i would like to stay there again but on a quieter night." (108113014)

    Beautiful surroundings, good food

    Shower broken, only pumped out scalding water. Felt like we were sleeping on top of a nightclub as there was a wedding party going on and we were not informed of this event while booking.

    We were in one of the premier rooms which was very roomy and found everything excellent with a wonderful view over the deer park, and generally very peaceful.

    In this particular room, when the shower or bath had been used in our room and others, the refilling of the water tank was very loud. If it did happen late at night it would be difficult to get to sleep.

    "I enjoyed my stay. THe function in the Whitworth suite for my college prom was brilliant and the staff were very nice and helpful.The staff did all they could to help us when we needed it. I expected the rooms to be a bit nicer for the money I paid but the actual setting made up for that. I knew about the deers in the park and they did not fail to meet my pre concieved ideas about it. The food at the function was a little dissapointing for the money we had paid, small portions and the yorkshire puddings tasted like cardboard!! All in all I enjoyed my stay and would definatly stay again as it is situated in such a lovely place." (99997749)

    the building it was in was very aesthetically pleasing (Whitworth hall). The rooms were a little small but had everything that we needed and a lovely view. The deers in the park made it nice as we could go out and see them.

    Small rooms and could hear any bit of noise through the walls.

    "This hotel was beautifully appointed - a great place for a quiet get-away-from-it-all break. The grounds were picturesque with lovely walks and tame deer. The library (four seasons) restaurant was cosy and beautifully laid out with a super atmosphere. The food was excelllent and all the family had a lovely time.     Lovely rural setting in a deer park. Very nice reception area, bar and restaurant. The rooms were excellent - spacious well equipped and very clean.

    The dinner in the Library was exceptional - great food in a lovely atmosphere.

We enjoyed a quiet drink in the lounge before sitting down to a very good evening meal in the pleasant surrounds of the Library restraunt. All the staff were very friendly, polite and helped to make our stay a relaxed and pleasant time. Having had a good, tasty and substantial breakfast, we left the hotel in a very relaxed and happy frame of mind. We booked this hotel because we didn't intend to use or punish ourselves in a fitness centre or swimming pool. We wanted something peaceful and quiet without paying too much for the pleasure.     The hotel had a warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere with pleasant and helpful staff. A very good evening meal in the restaurant

    "Pleasant country style hotel a couple of mile outside town so need a car. Restful surroundings easy reach of Durham. Nice for a short break would probably need more facilities if a longer stay,eg.pool,jacuzzi etc. We did enjoy the stroll through the deer and ducks to the walled garden even through the mist and damp!"     Nice hotel setting,tranquil, pleasant dining and conservatory areas.Staff were very friendly and efficient. Easy walk to pub although somewhat quiet,probably because of time of year[february]. liked the deer and ducks.

    faulty lock to room door, difficult to open or close although staff did attempt to deal with this.

    view from the drive was excellent,to see the deer in the park was just wonderful. when you walked into the hotel it was warm and welcoming very christmassy. our room was very clean,plenty of room all the facilities you need and good working order. food excellent. room service very good,staff very helpful. the walk through the deer park was great.

    would have liked a view of the deer park instead of ovr looking the carpark.

    The location is lovely and quiet, and the deer park is beautiful

    I would have liked a mini bar in the room for cold drinks and also an Ice machine available rather than ordering Ice through room service

    "The food was excellent and was by far the best thing about the hotel. It was beautifully presented and the tastes were well blended. The service in the restaurant in the evening was also excellent and the service generally in the hotel was very good. The standard of the hotel was spoilt by the state of the beds and other very minor things like dirty menus, no picture on TV, no radio on TV, handwritten messy tickets on the wine rack in dining room. If management pay attention to little details such as those the staff, surroundings, accomodation and food could certainly make this an outstanding hotel." (3304619328)

    Beds were in very poor condition and even when we swopped beds the next one was still as bad.

    The attention and care of almost all of the staff. Dinner was good and wine reasonably priced.

Although the room was very nice (lovely funriture/fittings etc.) I was very unahppy with the standard of cleanliness, as mentioned before the surfaces were covered with a white flaky material.     The actual hotel was beautiful, as were the surroundings. The room was tidy but most of the surfaces were covered in a flaky white material.

    The fact that we had rang adn agreed check -in from 1pm rather than 2pm but were unable to do this on arrival. The room was not spic and span when we did check in either, which I found quite disturbing for such a lovely hotel.

    This was an overnight stay prior to a very difficult business meeting. Thanks to the excellent service and accommodation we experienced at the hotel we arrived at our meeting refreshed and ready for action!

    One room had rather noisy radiators but it wasn't a major problem.

    "The overall experience was excellent, it had everything we needed in one place. The walks on a morning were pleasant especially the feeding of the deer. The hotel has its own bar as well as having a great pub near to the main gates that serve delicious food all day. There are plenty of places to visit locally." (3304296944)

    The accommodation was everything that I expected and read about, the room had very up to date decor and was roomy and clean and well equipped. The bed was large and comfy and the room was lovely and warm.

    The cleaners cupboard was adjacent to our room and we were woke up very early each morning.

    Quiet rooms , nice view , large bed , good decor , with relaxing seating areas , good choice on the wine list.

    overall it was agood experience and we will book and stay again. The Experience of some of the staff seemed low ( incorrect glasses offered with Champagne )Breakfast juices not replenished even with more guests arriving to take tables.
