    "Lovely hotel, friendly staff and great value break. No option in this questionaire for 'couple in mid 40's having break without the children'. It would be pushing it to say 'young couple' and I'm not ready to be classified as 'mature'!" (108316594)

    Nice room, bathroom, etc. Very friendly staff. Great value for half board - especially with the wine included. Lovely location and very handy for Ironbridge, etc.

    Same as most hotels and very minor points - small fragile plastic glasses in bathroom. Who really uses small tea cups and saucers these days? - a couple of decent mugs would be better for coffee in the morning! Bed was a bit on the soft side.

    The quality of food and waitress service was excellent.

    On first entering my room, the smell of stale cigarette smoke was overwhelming even though I had booked a non-smoking room. I could not sleep properly on the first night as the smell was all over the bedclothes and pillows. I left a note asking for housekeeping to blast the room with an airfreshener - which they did, and after that the room was ok.

    Excellent location, very nice atmosphere, like the 'Olde House' experience, breakfast is excellent and the staff friendly and welcoming. A very positive experience.

    Some of the facilities in the room need a little improving, bathroom doors that don't lock properly, paint peeling from the walls, broken fixtures (towel rail missing)

    Excellent staff and the hotel has a great atmosphere. Enjoyed our dinner.

    The room is probably due a refurbishment in a couple of years but we were not unhappy with it.

    Staff were polite and friendly. Food was good

    I couldn't get a constant temperature flowing through the shower in my room and couldn't angle it away from the wall, which meant I had to stand almost against the wall. Suggest fitting thermostatically controlled showers

    Room comfortable and warm, pleasant public rooms. Quiet Despite bad points low cost is attractive.

    Shower head broken (I had a similar experience in another room at this hotel). Sink had large crack, Car Park poorly lit and access road has large potholes. No Earl Grey tea at Breakfast.

    After a rather offhand reception, the receptionist later tried hard to rectify probems with my room

    faulty socket in the room meant that the lighting was insufficient, there were cobwebs in the room.

    Hotel was set in magnificent surroundings. The Food in the restaurant was very good and the waitresses were excellent, very good service.

    Lights did not work in Room. TV Reception was very bad. Unable to access Pay Movies. Unable to use Playstation. No stand-up shower. The breakfast was awful, I expected it to be cooked to order not left to stew at the side of the room.

    Receptionist and male dining room waiter were the only 2 people who I would have called welcoming and friendly. If this hotel was refurbished it would be beautiful because it is a lovely old building in nice grounds.

    Peeling wallpaper in the room, hole in the bedspread, old blanket underneath the bedspread, broken toilet bowl, dirty paintwork. Eating breakfast in the dining room made me feel ill as the paint on the walls was all chipped and peeling, the curtains looked dirty and the covers on the chairbacks were dirty and stained. If we hadn't paid for the breakfast in advance we wouldn't have eaten there at all. The seating outside the bar overlooking the lake was covered in dirty mould and needed a good clean. This was most definitely not a 4* hotel and was in urgent need of refurbishment. We were very disappointed and won't be using a Clarion hotel again.

    Very clean and friendly staff

    The room could have done with updating. The luggage holder was broken, there was paint on one of the chairs in our bedroom. The food was only average.

    overall look and setting of hotel

    staff not sure if they had setanta tv despite poster advertising matches and in fact they did not have setanta available. Initially one of the party was put in a room that had a plumber working in it.

    Had some character and indeed the hotel has much character.

    A bit cramped in the 2nd floor single room & the bathroom didn't have a shower facility.

    "The room we were given was in need of some tlc-wallpaper peeling, bedcovers with holes, toilet seat did not fit. The hotel was very atmospheric and steeped in history but it was obvious that some rooms are kept for bargain bookings such as ours.     The price was very good especially as you get a full english breakfast included. The staff were all very pleasant and welcoming.

    The medieval feel to the room, it wasn't decorated in a modern trendy medieval style, just genuinely medieval with a genuine medieval PlayStation 1. It was a bit spooky. A DVD player would have been good.

    quiet backwater close to the ironbridge gorge museums

    the ensuite bathroom was well below par. showerhead broken, no hot water to sink taps. the room smelt very musty and seemed to have mould on the walls towards the ceiling. car park entrance flooded.

    very clean and good size, bed comfortable -- staff very helpfull

    electrical problems ie some lights not working as a disabled person taking a shower was hazardous because there is no grab handle on the wall of the bathroom and no shower hose making it difficult to get into the bath and under the shower safely -- room 45.

    Comfortable bed, good size room with reasonably pleasant view

    It was cold and there were not enough bedclothes. There were no personal touches at all - toiletries were poor quality. I hated the bars on the windows although I know they are there for safety reasons.

    It was an excellent old building with plenty of character, fantastic value for money. Usually you see pictures on websites which look nothig like the real thing, but this hotel looks every bit as great in real life too. Definately worth a visit.

    "Overall we had a pleasent stay. The hotel and grounds were lovely and all memebers of staff we found were very helpful. There is a good range of breakfast and dinner services available and a 24 hour reception. I would have liked the rooms to have been a little larger although the bathroom was of a good size.     All the basics were there and the room was clean. Staff were very nice.

    There was a slight unpleasent mouldy smell in the bathroom and the room was a little on the small side.

    "The hotel is well placed for a visit to Telford, and was easy to find. This hotel provided sound budget accomodation. Staff at Madeley Court were courteous and efficient. The hotel itself has lots of potential, but the wing that I stayed in needs refurbishing, and the decor looked tired." (99047716)

    Hotel was very historic, and interesting to stay in, it had a lot of potential for development. Lots of hot water in the rooms.

    Catering could have been better. The milk provided in the room was past its sell by date. Breakfast was adequate but no-one seemed to be in charge of the dining room and more attention to detail would have made it better. Instant coffee rather than freshly ground was a disappointment.
