    "Very helpful staff, great location near railway station, food fine (although i did only have cereal and toast so can't really comment!), great value for money will definitely return, already booked for 2nd week in december." (108663634)

    excellent staff, lady who was working the day of my stay was very helpful. On my arrival she tended to my every need which is much appreciated as i didnt have to worry about anything but my meeting the next day! She was also very helpful and friendly in the morning at breakfast. Excellent location.

    Although the room was very clean, some areas of the room could have done with a little attention, eg paint.

    "Read bad comments before travel, but not at all bad, and would use again. Very reasonably priced given that it's only just outside the City. On a very regular bus route which was extremely helpful as we're a "mature" couple!!" (107556513)

    Friendly staff. Clean room etc. Towels replaced regularly. Breakfast continental style, but adequate.

    Room very small with no wardrobe, no table of any sort. Double bed but next to wall so not so easy to get into. Room in need of redecoration. Bathroom clean but pretty shabby.

    Very personable hosts. Located across from quiet park. Sort walk to waterfront and restaurants.

    Longer walk to center of city but quick cab ride.

    The room is huge and good for family

    The wardrobe door fell which nearly caught my daughter,the bedboard fell off,toilet flush not working properly,The shower drainage leaking.The owner is not approachble when making complaints about the fault.

    The staff were very helpful and friendly. They explained how the buses ran and where we could get them. Also suggested several good eating establishments

    Unflortunately there was no lift up to the top floor. We had one person who found the stairs a bit of a problem

    The room is old but clean in general. The floor is uneven.

    I was assigned to stay in a room viewing the backyard where it is written in the hotel details when I booked that "All rooms are overlooking Leith links golf club". It is a cheat!! The vertilation is bad. When the chef cooks in the kichen located at the basement in the evening, the whole bulding is filled with soot.

    "I've read other reviews - http://www.tripadvisor.ie/ShowUserReviews-g186525-d210913-r8247004-Merith_House_Hotel-Edinburgh_Scotland.html - which if I had read before, I wouldn't have stayed there. But, in general, it's now clean - good towels, nice smelling beding. The old boy was a bit gruff, but nothig like the other reviews. He insited on booking a taxi for me, and went and got a map of the town after the one on display had been knicked." (97330380)

    Warm, clean.

    No chair, only place to sit was on the bed. Badly tuned T.V. on top of wardrobe, poor viewing angle, no remote control.

    "Alles in allem würde ich dieses B&B niemandem weiter empfehlen, ich würde mich schämen. Es war sehr runtergekommen, brauchte dringend eine Renovierung. Das Bett, die Bettwäsche und Handtücher waren picobello sauber, aber ansonsten war alles an diesem B&B alt, abgenutzt und nicht sehr einladen.     Die Einrichtungen waren schon fast antiquitiert, das Zimmer war zu klein, die Tapete fiel fast von den Wänden, im Bad, welches viel zu eng war, war der Fußboden nicht richtig verlegt, man musste aufpassen dass man nicht drüber stolperte.

    I loved the atmosphere of the place, comfortable and welcoming without being too familiar.

    The room was quite sterile, for a family run business, I would have loved to see a picture on the wall, etc

    "Hotel was very battered and brusied looking with a distinct smell of cooking fat, however it was clean and the owner was very helpful and friendly. It was in a good location for all local attractions and buses stopped right outside the door ( although they did start at 6:30 and were quite noisy!) With a little style and tidy up the hotel could be great. Continental breakfast was fine, although we were expecting a full scottish, as this was what was on the website/confirmation. There is no bar facilities within the hotel but one close by as recommended by owner was nice. I would say that this is definately more of a B&B rather than a hotel!" (97935295)

    Good Hospitality, Breakfast, friendly staff and their guidance to enjoy the city. Easily commutable to city center without much difficulty.

    Still rooms are under maintenance. But it is good value for money.

    the staff were very friendly and we got clean towels every day

    very poorly maintained, i thought the people in the next room were in my room, bathroom was so small you couldnt swing a cat,and the shower ran cold,the floor was on an angle and sweaked a lot,all in all,it was very pokey and not comfy at all,sorry

    "I was looking for budget accomodation in Leith for one night and this hotel was fine for this. It's basic with no frills but perfectly adequate. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was good. The room was noisy, as there was a bus stop and busy road outside." (3305415521)
