    Charming hotel with great features and lots of grounds to explore.....very dog friendly, receptionist was very friendly.

    We were in a family room with all beds in one room, this hotel had family rooms with ajoining rooms which would have been better, as these rooms were not occupied it would have been thoughtful to have been given the choice.

    "I would stay again, but I hope that the chef tastes the food first before it is put out to guests (including tasing the juice to check its freshness)as well as balancing out a reasonable portion of food for guests. Other than that, very nice indeed." (108372506)

    Beautiful hotel and grounds, very nice staff. The room was lovely but the matress was too soft for me which gave me back ache the next day and the bed head was not adequate for me to sit up in bed as it was so short.

    The breakfast was a let down for me. The grapefruit juice was going fizzy (I didn not mention anything at the time as I was just happy to drink tea and their were people in earshot. I had the welsh full breakfast. The portions were small with the bacon and one sausage being totally tastless. The slither of butter on my table was generous enough for half a slice of toast. It ultimatly gave me the impression that the hotel/chef was to obsessed with portion control, which did not suit my stomach as well as the grandure of the establishment.

    Nowhere to plug hair dryer in that was near the mirror.

    Excellent room and bath facilities, clean and well designed bedroom. Delicious evening meal.

    Thought some of the decoration of communal areas cluttered with bric a brac (I don't like dressed dolls!).

    "The hotel was in an excellent location and setting. I was amazed to see the restaurant so empty as it was also open to non residents. The food was first class with excellent presentation. There were some loveley original features to the hotel and when we wer ther some of the bedrooms were being refurbished.     Friendly staff; lovely setting and house; pleasant dining room and good breakfast. One single bedroom was very nice and satisfactory.

    2nd bedroom was VERY small to be paying the same as the first single room we booked, and inadequately furnished, with wall light wires but no light! Sound carried too easily from the next-door room. The same room was unserviced for the second night of our stay.

    "The 70's called and want their hotel room back! It really was like stepping back in time, loud old fashioned wallpaper, damp patch on the wall and an advocado bathroom suite. With a complete refurbishment this hotel could be lovely as the staff were very friendly and it is set in beautiful grounds. Very expensive for what it is now." (97977407)

    Friendliness of the staff, and the restaurant menu was varied and very well prepared, cooked and served.

    I got quite cold in the early evening and first thing in the morning, the heating was on timed and could have been adjusted to cater for the time of the year and weather conditions.

    The food served in the retaurant was good but expensive.

    The bedroom was filled with cheap domestic standard furniture. The tiles in the aged bathroom were coming off the wall. There was no heating available. The television was small and the reception poor.

    "We had a great two nights in this friendly hotel. It is easy to find and conveniently placed for Cardigan and the surrounding coast. It is set in large well maintained grounds, next to the river Teifi along which you can walk for miles. The food in the restaurant is very good indeed but gets expensive when eating with chidren. The kids were most welcome and their highlight was the hotel dog Sophie,a dog with infinite patience. We wouldn`t hesitate to stay there again." (99704606)

    General furnishing and finish of our family room was below the standard we expected, particularly compared to the rest of the hotel. Can`t comment on other rooms.

    "The hotel buildings are impressive and set in extensive grounds. Service in the bar and restaurant was friendly and the food was excellent. The only thing that let the hotel down was a lack of attention to detail with regard to cleanliness. A pair of dead flies lay in open view on a shelf on the main stairway landing for the duration of our stay. The faults would not prevent me from returning nor recommending the hotel but the overall experience could be improved." (99709012)

    The food was excellent, the hotel is in an impressive setting.

    Decor was looking a bit tired in some places and more attention to detail in cleaning would not go amiss.

    It was clean and tidy and breakfast was freshly cooked and was hot. Plenty Tea and toast again freshly made.

    I was in a very small single room at the back of the hotel. Only 5 TV channels. 24 hr news would have been better!

    "Overall the place is on a par with similar places I have stayed at and offers plenty of country charm; an excellent local Ale and real log fire add to the experience. It was also cleaner than most similar hotels, and the decor was in good order. The bathroom/shower was the least impressive aspect of the room. The public areas of the hotel were very nice. An ideal place to stay on a pleasure basis, but has little to offer the business traveller in terms of essential communications (email/mobile phone). Installing a Wi-Fi network would address both issues as Skype users would make their calls over the internet." (99738945)

    Clean and comfortable oozing olde worlde charm; extensive facilities to support the getaway from it all type of visitor who's on holiday.

    No wireless internet access combined with no mobile phone coverage means I'd be very unlikely to stay there again on the basis 99% of my hotel stays are business orientated. Unfortunately this hotel is not geared towards the business traveller. I'm not complaining about this, just stating why I'd be unlikely to use this hotel again.

    "Loved it, would book it again, real value for money, has everything I need. An upgrade would be a slightly larger single bed, the higher bedside lamp to read by. Knobs on the wardrobe door.     If you are talking about the bedroom, it is quaint. The plumbing is def out of the 20's or earlier, but you just get on with it. There were cobwebs and door handles missing and other things that put a smile on your face, but it had clean bed linen the room was dry and didn't smell and there was plenty of hot water, for the price charged, that will do nicely. Location over cost ? It worked nicely. As for the rest of the hotel,, I liked it a lot. The bar and the lounge and the restaurant were just what I wanted. Especially upholstered chairs in the restaurant. I hate plastic/leather or hard seats in somewhere where you going to be for a couple of hours and enjoying a good meal, which is what I did, lovely,, More please.

    Need some handles on the cupboard doors, more substantial and higher bedside lamp. The loose floor boards could do with screwing down, the shower - is too hot or too cold, I could not find a happy medium even after trying to decipher the instructions on the wall. But I managed and it is nothing I would complain about.
