    the rate we paid was excellent value. The staff were very freindly and the rooms clean and a good standard.

    Phoned reception to request a wake up call for the following morning. This did not happen.

    I left an item in the room; telephoned to request it be sent on to me; arrived carefully wrapped within two days. Excellent after-care service.

    Poor selection of TV channels. Small flat screen with only basic 5 channels possible. No sleep timer on controls.

    Charming olde worldy buildings, wood paneled restaurants and bars with appropriate décor. Expansive manicured lawns and gardens.

    Some blown light globes in our room. Signposted, but somewhat difficult to find when we got close. No street number on booking confirmation documentation. Some (younger) staff not particularly switched on with regard basic hotel questions like “what time is breakfast served?” No alternative restaurants or pubs within easy walking distance that we were aware of.

    Twin rooms were booked, but on check in, the rooms were double. Fortunately there were enough rooms to be switched promptly. This could have caused some difficulties had a change not been possible.

    Very convenient hotel for location of business.

    Bath/shower proved to be a problem. it was very difficult to change the water temperature of the shower, so I had a rather hot shower. Also I was unable to find a way to empty the bath. I go to many hotels for business and have never found this to be an issue before. Some instructions may be useful. The breakfast staff was less than attentive. They had to be called for the essentials like fork, milk, plates etc... and were more preoccupied with talking among themselves than taking care of the customers. As your hotel is 4 stars I would expect good customer care in all areas.

    friendly staff, nice location

    Cleanliness of room could be improved. Musty room, not aired. showerhead not working corectly. I had a quick meal in bar, club sandwich was nice, but the chips were the worst i ever had, and i travel a lot to europe etc.

    "It is closely situated to family and with easy access to motorways. The recent changes to the rooms in the hotel are a great improvement particularly the bathroom although I did find dragging my luggage to and from the second floor difficult and I am able bodied. I know the staff would have helped but there was only one girl on reception when I booked out so I could not have asked her." (107750573)

    I was made to feel most welcome particularly as i was visisting alone. the staff in all areas of the hotel are well trained and excellent. The food in the restaurant is fantastic and worth the stay alone. This time I visited the Health Club and was most impressed with the size and quality of the equipment and the care that was taken of me.

    You desperately need a lift to take guests with their luggage to the second floor rooms. I also pointed out that the coffee was a little weak and neeeded an extra spoonful.

    LOvely setting, very convenient for the wedding we were attending. Quiet setting.

    We had hoped to be able to use the swimming pool with my on, aged 2, but were dissapointed to learn the pool was for adults and children over 6 only.

    "Friendly staff on reception desk; room was not quite as plush as some 4* hotels, but well appointed, with most important attribute of a very comfy bed. Leisure facilities were excellent. Breakfast (continental) was OK, not as good as some, but fine all the same. Total cost through Active hotels was very competitive. " (107926673)

    "It was an excellent hotel..truly one of the best I've stayed in for business travel. I work as a consultant at an Aintree hospital so it was a bit of a daily haul with the tolls et al but very much worth it. Will be back and with partner in tow!" (97876837)

    Distance from reception to room, power black out in the area but the hotel was great with comp meals and drinks.Plug in internet facilities a bit slow for business users. WiFi would be much better.

    "I found all the staff very helpful and nice my only complaint would be about breakfast. My husband and two sons had cooked breakfast quality good - but long wait, my self and daughter and cereal and one crossiant because that was all there was, everything was empty, waited tosee if refilled but wasn't, went twice still nothing then requested to be replenished and was brought back 4 croissants on a plate from which we took one each, after 20 minutes seemingly they had to be cooked. I thought very poor breakfast and very poor service for a **** hotel in fact worst i've ever witnessed from any other hotel. The premier inn much cheaper and way better .To crown it off we were all charged for full cooked breakfast.Only discovered that after we had left." (97178517)

    hotel calme, chambre propre, equipement de la chambre parfait.

    15% supplementaire sur les rooms service, cela ne devrai pas etre charge. peu de restaurants dans les alentours.

    "No massages available in the spa - we would all have liked one but only one of the 4 of us who stayed were able to book a massage. However we did use the jacuzzi/pool/sauna and all clean and enjoyable. Steam room out of action. Breakfast disappointing. We missed a resident's bar as there were Xmas parties in on Friday 20th so had to go to our room to have a drink as it was quite rowdy/noisy in residents' bar which seemed to be full of non-residents. Apart from above lovely location, friendly staff." (97950806)

    overall good. However we stayed in room 323 and my daughter and her husband in 338 - theirs was much higher spec. As we were paying same amount didn't seem fair. Our bathroom showed signs of damp etc and bathroom fan took a while to click off.

    The breakfast was dreadful for a 4* hotel. Coffee/tea/delivered from a flask to the table a cup at a time. Would prefer my own pot with a couple of cups in it. Sausages low quality and generally hot food badly cooked (ie hash browns not sufficiently brown to warrant the term hash browns. Disappointing as the evening meal was superb.

    The hotel as a whole was very nicely decorated and well maintained. The bathroom in our room was newly renovated and very impressive

    When we first checked into the room it smelt of cigarettes even though it was a no-smoking room. As we were in a rush to get out we did not want to try and change rooms. On leaving a window open the smell was gone by the time we had gone to bed but it still creates a bad impression when a room smells of smoke on entry

    The use of spa facilities.

    The hotel room was a bit basic and shabby and not quite up to scratch with the maintenace. There was a very strong smell of smoke in the corridor outside our room and as we booked a non-smoking room we found this very unpleasant.

    A wonderfully peaceful experience. All the staff where exceptionally pleasant and couldn't be more helpful. I would strongly recommend this hotel to enyone visiting the wirral or Liverpool.

    Bathroom - minor problems as entered on our written comments on departure. Quite a long walk to the room - but that was probably good for us.

    Large bedroom with large sofa besides the bed. Very clean and was decorated to high standard. Bed was very confortable.

    Plumbing need attention, we were woken up by guests laughing in the corridor at 2am then gurgling noises started from the bathroom. Informed reception when we checked out, they were going to investigate.

    "As the hotel is located in the countryside the opportunity to visit other premises for food is not ideal. On arrival we booked a table in the dining room only to discover this was a set menu. Our room did not provide any further information on this either. We were disapointed with the quality of the food. The starter ingredients were confusing. We would have preferred to choose the main course only. However, our room was excellent and had those homely touches. We would return." (99295882)

    Provision of all those homely things 'bathrobes & slippers' Fruit bowl and water on arival in the room. The room space was ideal and quiet. We would recommend this to friends and would return.

    In the bathroom all those places that are 'hidden' under shelves and basins needed a general clean

    It was very clean and comfortable and well heated There was no noise at all in the room we stayed in, even though there were functions in the hotel, and it wass fully booked.

    it was all very good. staff were unbelievable helpful, nothing was too much trouble. i went to the bistro for tea one eve. they didnt have a childrens menu but the waiter kindly offered to speak to the chef to find out what they had that children might like. experiences like this would make me return to a place. I like order and sameness but not to the detriment of not being able to think outside the box or put oneself out. please thank this waiter in the bistro for me, he was middle aged.

    nothing, everything had been though of. it has renewed my faith in hotels in england as i thought other parts of the globe could only get it right. the accomodation was very comfortable.
