    The only problem was the steepness and number of the stairs - one friend has an artificial knee and found them too much for her. Some noise from passing revellers late at night.

    Staff were very friendly and responsive. Dining room and breakfast were very good. Quick service; good selection. Hotel near to the town centre. Some parking available; public car park very close by.

    Size of room was fairly small. Bedding a little past its best, although everything was clean. En-suite shower room was very small. If you retuen late at night to hotel you are unlikely to get a parking space.

    "Hotel is an ideal base for a Shrewsbury visit. B & B rate reasonable, particularly with parking thrown in." (108757454)

    Central, quiet location with inclusive parking a real bonus. All the town's attractions are no more than a walk away. Excellent breakfast. Wifi free in all rooms. Warm welcome from the owners. Minor room equipment issues sorted immediately.

    Room (15) small with tiny bathroom carved out of a corner. But functional. (Note there are bigger rooms)

    The location was terrific, right in the town. The room was small but nice, and the wireless connection was strong. The owner had good recommendations for where to eat locally.

    I had a room at the front and it was quite noisy. The road has a lot of pedestrian traffic and people was loud until late into the night. The breakfast was nothing special and I was annoyed that as a single guest I kept getting seated in corners behind families with babies.

    Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, very convenient and quiet situation, private car park.

    Bedroom OK but small, firmer mattress would have been welcome, understand shower room due for needed refurbishment.

    The hotel is in the centre of Shrewsbury and owners made me feel really welcome an information was given without being intrusive or condecending like major hotels. Breakfast was the same personable service and was the best I have had in 20 years. Good job well done!

    Could do with a refurb. but then that would have priced me out of that bracket, needed an overnight and that was what I got with great service.

    Staff very helpful, conveniently situated for the centre of Shrewsbury and the Abbey and the breakfast was good. Car parking available on site.

    The bathroom was a bit tired looking.

    The room was quite nice, but the best part was the staff, who were so helpful and pleasant!

    "I was not aware of serving times for breakfast - possibly would have gone to a hotel serving earlier (if one was to be found). I would normally expect something more substantial than cereal as substitute to take away for early breakfast. For £60 on a single room outside of London I would normally expect more than this.I appreciate that old buildings can be damp and draughty, but the radiator could barely keep the room warm, and in fact went off well before I went to sleep, and was cold during the night and in the morning."     Kindly chap who checked me in on arrival, and night porter who put cereal out for me in the morning and looked out for my taxi.

    Cold, draughty, very lumpy springy bed with a big dip in the middle, and lumpy pillows, poor pressure on shower. I had to be in work for 8am, so breakfast was sadly too late for me to utilise - cereal was not much of a consolation,

    Our bed was a little dated which meant it was quite soft and unsupportive.

    Very nice family run establishment. The room was comfortable. Only stayed one night on the way to London but would like to go back to Shrewsbury and stay longer here.

    Nothing except the Internet access was not working the day we were there.
