    Excellent hotel, convenient for places to visit.

    Although we booked a double and a twin room online, somehow the hotel had bookings for 2 double rooms. However, this was able to be changed after the first night.

    Very welcoming and friendly staff.

    Very poor show, despite booking the most expensive room. We stay in many nice 5 star venues and having a poor shower with low water pressure is unforgivable in this day and age.

    Very pleasant staff, freshly cooked quality breakfast. Nice touches in sitting area, paper to read, courtsey drink. Good spot to walk from and good food at inn along the road in the evening. Pleasant grounds and a good tennis court.

    Quiet tranquil location. Pleasant staff. Quality TV. Excellent breakfast. Complimentary sherry a nice touch.

    Breakfast tables a tad small. No alternative to marmalade for your toast. Bathroom OK but a bit small. Bedroom lighting could be better.

    The proprietoress was very pleasant and gave us a nice welcome. Complimentary sherry (if you wished) was available in teh lounge which was a nice jesture. A good variety of breakfast food

    If we ran the hot and cold taps at the same time, the cold tap ran hot for a while!! We prefer the room a bit cooler so although we turned the heating down, the option of a little more bedding to compensate would have been nice.

    Good position. Excellently run hotel. Friendly and efficient staff. Breakfast very good

    Only bad points were the very poor water pressure and supply and a toilet which was very difficult to flush.

    Friendly helpful staff, fantastic breakfast and overall lovely hotel and rooms.

    The only thing I could complain about was that the shower didn't hang up on wall properly. But the bath was excellent.

    Lovely welcome by the owner. A beautiful house with fab gardens and a lovely black labrador thrown in for good measure. Full English breakfast was superb

    "This is a large, character (Lutyens) house set in 4 acres of gardens. This provides a B&B with lots of extras. Good size bedroom and en-suite with quality fittings and fixtures eg digital TV. Excellent lounge area with daily newspapers and free sherry! Opportunities to use tennis court and swimming pool - but we visited in November! Free WIFI access in room and lounge, and computer available for guests to use. Excellent breakfast with good choice. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Would highly recommend." (97486143)

    "This is a charming place to stay with wonderful gardens and a building full of character.It may be that in the future an upgrade to full hotel status may be applicable. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this to anybody wishing to visit this part of Dorset in the future." (97058920)

    The building was very nice and the room well presented.Mattress was just right.

    Swimming pool not yet available and noisy water supply.

    Close to Dorchester and within easy reach of the main Dorset tourist attractions. Room was comfortable and pleasantly decorated, bathroom also very nice. Breakfasts were tasty and unhurried.

    "it was really nice having the complementary sherry and newspapers out every morning. the choice of breakfast was very good and well cooked. it was good to have a menu from nearby eating establishments for evening meals. it would have been good to have had somewhere to store our clothes in the room. our room only had a very small cupboard in the bathroom. the shower was not very effective but was adequate enough. the TV was good with lenty of channels to choose should we wish. it was also a good idea having a CD clock radio in the room."     the setting was lovely and the staff were excellent.

    it was slightly too hot in the room and the room was a little on the small side.

    "Staff were professional & courteous and the hotel is well placed for Dorchester and its environs. Lack of heating in the bathroom was a minus [cold, frosty mornings] and we felt it was quite expensive for what was on offer. It is only for this reason that we would not recommend it to others, as the 'added value'of the building isn't sufficient to compete with more competitive priced accommodation available nearby. It is, in the end, only a 'posh' B & B - £89 pn is expensive." (97623196)
