    "Loved it, but it was too fleeting (we came over from the Netherlands for a wedding in the evening and had to leave early to go back the next day.) We will definitely return, if only to have a chance to have a longer stay and soak up the atmosphere! " (107393063)

    The location of the hotel was superb, scenic and secluded. We received a very warm welcome from the hotel manager, and they went out of their way to be helpful by storing some perishable goods in the fridge for us, and also getting up the following morning (Sunday) at 6am to let us out as we had to leave early to catch a ferry. We found the room large and spacious, with lovely views, and an enormous bed.

    The only bad point was the noise of the water/bilge pump in the ensuite bathroom, that went off every time you switched on the water tap or flushed the toilet and was very loud.

    Every thing was perfect. We were up graded to the 4 poster bedroom at no extra charge. Absolutely NO complaints. A wonderful 2 night stay. We hope to return. Please convey our thanks to all of the staff.

    "Will happily use the hotel again, but will book a double room next time, even though it costs more. Please compliment the chef on the best breakfast had for a very long time - we book over 200 hotel rooms each year and therefore a similar number of breakfasts!" (107992550)

    The breakfast was excellent!

    A single room had been booked and whilst it was not expected to be as big as a double room, it was extremely small and only about the size of the bathroom experienced in many other hotels of a similar price. Not ideal when you are there on business and need room to work.

    SCULTHORPE MILL PROVED TO BE AN EXCELLENT PLACE TO STAY ALBEIT ON A COLD GREY JANUARY WEEKEND.LOVELY SETTING ADJ.RIVER WINSUM AND EASY TO FIND.OUR ROOM WAS FULL OF CHARACTER -EXPOSED BEAMS ETC AND TRULY IMMACULATELY PRESENTED.HAD EVENING MEAL IN THE HOTEL AND BREAKFAST THE FOLLOWING MORNING - BOTH EXCELLENT IN QUALITY AND VALUE FOR MONEY.

    OUR ONLY GRIPE RELATES TO THE BAR AREA - REALLY QUITE SMALL FOR THE SIZE OF THE ESTABLISHMENT.

    The staff were all very friendly and helpful creating a wonderful homely atmosphere. Lovely restaurant, and very pleasant bar downstairs, the real ale was excellent, being in perfect condition.

    None really. Maybe a little more light in the room to help use of the mirror.

    Wonderful location. Friendly and helpful staff.

    None really. Would suggest serving coffee in a cafetiere with jug of milk/cream and sugar in a bowl, when dining in the restaurant.

    The hotel was clean, well presented in a lovely position, with well maintained gardens.

    The hotel fell down for us on its' lack of character and atmosphere. The bar seating area was quite small. Dinner was served in the upstairs restaurant and was the most disappointing aspect of our stay. There was a lack of attention from staff who took a considerable time before taking our drink and food orders. There was a problem with one of the meals, firstly being over-cooked, with the chef then erring on the side of caution and under cooking the replacement. Needless to say this spoilt our evening.

    Lovely room and location of the hotel, friendly and helpful staff, good food.

    Not advised in advance that bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, with no lifts. Mattress poor quality, very uncomfortable, I could feel the metal springs and buttons, the bottom sheet was directly on the mattress. The duvet was heavy and 13.5 tog (not suitable for mid-summer)and I used it to pad the mattress.

    "We enjoyed our stay, and we were unfortunate to encounter a very noisy small group at dinner which spoilt our meal which took too long to arrive, perhaps due to pressure from the noisy ones. Hotelier did his best to apologise, but too little, too late. Would hope for better luck if staying again." (108076162)

    Friendly hotelier, lovely tranquil setting and well-kept riverside garden. Interesting and nicely presented evening meals from a select menu.

    Slightly annoying water-ciculating pump which made an intermittent noise/vibration at all hours. Poor restaurant service and long wait for cooked food, despite prior checking best time/other guests. No apparent dessert menu available. Had to ask for supplementary 'snacking' bread due to lengthy dinner wait, and simple breakfast order was not taken early-enough to get food on table in a timely manner, despite no other guests at the time. Perhaps there was a staff shortage?

    "The setting for the mill is at the end of a country lane, so no through traffic noise. The bedrooms are on the 3rd floor (6 in all) and each has a view of the river. The resturant is on the second floor. The meal was good with the chef doing a tour after the meal to ask how it was - very brave these days! It has a pleasent forcourt and back garden bordered on one side by the river. There were I believe 2 other houses in front otherwise it is surrounded by fields. At the back is a country lane which I walked on for an hour which just meanderes past a few farms. It is the perfect place to stay for a relaxing weekend away." (97145984)

    Very good,picturesque and quiet setting. Staff very accomodating. Good view from rooms. Pleasent garden at back.

    Noisy generator or pump near my room that ran intermittently, shower diverter needed several tries to get flow through shower head.

    "My first experience staying here was October 2007 and unfortunately it was for my Nana's funeral, but the staff were exceptional with everything. It was such a lovely, quiet place and the rooms and restaurant were very nice. I liked it so much that I brought my husband back this year and we had a lovely time. I will definately return again.     Good food, attractive location and room.

    The walls to the rooms are very thin - I'm hard of hearing, but I could hear every sound next door. Also, hot water is not available if more than one guest is showering / washing.

    Room could have been slightly larger, however this is just a minor consideration.
