    "Superb facility and location spoilt by mediocre service." (107865670)

    The hotel had the potential to be exceptional as it has great facilities, but some of the service levels pushed the experience down to adequate which was a shame as the facility had great potential.

    Being able to book on-line dispite being told by telephone that the hotel was full. Special rate offered for wedding was avaliable as standard on web. Drinks (spirits) were far too expensive. Wedding table layout was poor with a large table in the doorway. This was the same for breakfast dispite being in another room. Poor performance by bar staff at after hours hotel bar, firstly needing a booking slip dispite being on the computer, very poorly attended bar. Drinks were charged that I didnt recognise and when I challenged it I gave up in the end and just paid it, dispite having a witness (another guest) who was agreeing with me.

    The staff were amazing, attentive without being intrusive. The food - WOW !!! what an experience. The treatment at the Spa and the whole spa experience was first class.

    "Well I didn't think this hotel could get better. I stayed before and had the most beautiful room possible but this time they just came up trumps with an even more luxurious room. The food and service is excellent probably one of the best restaurants I have eaten at and the little finishing touches like a complimentary miniture bowl of soup whilst waiting for your starter is a really lovely idea. Will definitely stay here again even though it is not in the centre of Birmingham I am prepared for the little longer journey in the morning." (97640290)

    "Great online deal with dinner, which was lovely. The chicken liver parfait was very good, as was the monk fish. Best wine list we have seen in a long time, had an excellent white wine from New Zealand. Really enjoyed the use of the spa facilities, wished our local club was as nice." (97284893)

    Size of room, soft beds.

    Poor lighting, no decent lighting for hair/makeup. No king sized bed, had to settle for 2 singles.

    "We took the advantage of the executive room offer and found the hotel to be plesant and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and the bed excellent, but the bathroom let down the quality of the executive labelling. It was in need of some updating. The seal round the bath/shower was unsightly and the bottom of the door had several chips and scratches with patches of rot." (97397546)

    "Some of the front desk staff were not helpful, particularly when attempting to book rooms over the next 6 months. On one occasion, I was working in my room and could not get through to room service, or reception, I walked down and asked reception to contact room service for me, they suggested I go through to the restaurant to order my food, I refused and suggested it was their role."     Not being able to book rooms at a similar rate to the internet, is not conjusive for business arrangements. If I cannot resolve this, I will seek out a more business friendly hotel

    "Accomodation and facilities were excellent, all the staff were superb, only thing that did let it down was the poor quality/cooking of the breakfast(bacon like cardboard, scrambled eggs that were very runny, undercooked saute potatoes, etc.) and average room service, ordered a burger on room service arrived very raw/undercooked(but staff were happy to remedy ASAP). But overall an excellent hotel and superb(bend over backwards to help you!) staff." (99315305)

    "Accommodation and food were very good. Leisure centre was disappointing. Hate the black tiles especially because the water wasn't warm and underwater lighting not working - not very inviting! Ladies' changing room far too small. Staff started to scrub the floor of the 'quiet' area an hour before closing. Ironic considering that everyone is asked to switch off mobile phones before entering the area! Arrived on Friday (early evening) and was told that the only beautician available was fully booked on Saturday and neither girl was working on Sunday. If hotel wants weekend 'leisure' guests, suggest that facilities are improved. Heated loungers and foot spas are nice." (99018923)

    Very new, fresh and tasteful rooms. Room service dinner was excellent!

    Booked 2 rooms and understood that both would have full bathrooms but 1 had shower only - no change possible.

    The room was a good size and the bed was fabulous. It was also nice to have good sized bath towels. Everthing was clean and well maintained.

    The pillows seemed a bit tired and another couple would haven been useful, I like to sit propped up in bed in the morning with my first cupn of tea of the day!

    The restaurant food was excellent and the wine list informative, albeit the staff were initially slow to take an order. The leisure facilities were good, albeit being the time of year, overcrowded.

    The room was functional although basic and dated.

    "The only (very minor) niggle was that the refurbishment of the leisure facilities wasn't finished, but we were aware of this before arriving so this can hardly be seen as a complaint. Overall the staff were excellent, the accommodation extremely clean and well presented, the food was superb - we couldn't fault the hotel." (99090710)

    "Our stay exceeded our hopes. We have eaten at the hotel before but not stayed.Apart from having to wait to be seated,then wait quite q while for breakfast,every thing flowed well staff were super and the health suite quite stunning, even the leisure members were so very friendly.So a big thank you to all the staff from both of us we shall certainly be returning."
