    "Main road location is a little noisy for the rooms on that side of the hotel - but thats not the hotels fault." (108376129)

    competitive price (£65 for double room). Our Early check out request (6am) was catered for with the offer of a packed breakfast.

    Bar closure at 11.00 and firm refusal to serve residents even 1 minute after this time, this is not suitable for late working business guests (we arrived at 9pm) and also unusual for a hotel. Also there was a problem with tripped electrics and we had to call the offsite duty manager 3 times before the phone was answered. We ended up locating the fuse box and resetting it ourselves in the meantime.

    Lovely setting, staff were nice and the public parts of the hotel were clean and cosy.

    our room (number 8)was vile, we had paid for a superior room but should have got a defination of superior, I do understand in olde world character hotels the rooms will be smaller etc but our room was so so dirty, the carpet was filthy with stains all over it, certain parts of the room had obviously never been cleaned as they were covered in thick greasy dust (and yucky stuff) - Also feel that a full breakfast should have included in the price as we have stayed in much cleaner, better hotels which did provide this.

    Wonderful location for visiting the Cotswolds. The hotel was quiet and we had 2 nights of uninterrupted sleep. Free parking.

    "Stow was lovely, and a great central point for a little break. The hotel was fine, although it was a shame the bar wasn't busier as it was a lovely room, just felt a bit like you were intruding." (107405549)

    Hotel was clean, staff fine, bar was nice (although very empty), breakfast was fine, there was parking- which you need somewhere like Stow

    Ceilings were very low in some areas, the bathroom was tiny (would have burnt yourself on the towel rail had it been on, that small)

    Great location.

    Internet site is misleading r.e. all the Superior Rooms do not come with 4 poster bed. In fact there is only one 4 poster bed & you have to request it on booking. It doesn't say this anywhere! I felt I paid for a superior room that was just like a normal room. No internet available

    comfortable, good ambience, plenty of History!

    Restaurant. Service at dinner inadequate,the young man willing but not very efficient - asked 4 times for water. Main meal was served on cold plates and everything piled on the plate,food quickly cooled.

    "On initial impression, this hotel seemed full of old-world charm with very pleasant staff and the public areas full of character, particularly the bar; which is what we were searching for. Our standard bedroom was small but cosy but on closer examination, the bathroom was in a very poor state of repair and permanently smelt of dampness. It needed modernisation. We ate in the restaurant; the menu was not very exciting, (although possessing a rosette) and the food was adequately presented by efficient young staff. Only one dessert was ordered, (a favorite of mine): traditional summer pudding, which was dry, with very little juice & berries and frankly, inedible. However,it was exchanged without question for a basket of berries, which was good and no charge was made for the dessert on the bill. The breakfast was pleasant. As we walked through the bar, water was dripping through the ceiling as if a leaking pipe above. Overall, the hotel is tired and needs energy injected into it. In our opinion, not worthy of a rosette." (108042778)

    overall we thought the hotel and staff were excellent.

    the view into the centre staff courtyard could do with a bit of attention,and the flat roofs were very tatty.

    "The hotel is quite good and clean. The decor in the rooms (the one we was in) seemed a little dated and appears to need a makeover. As we had a baby with us, the logistics of getting from the room to reception was totally inadequate. Walking along corridors and down staircases with a pram was a struggle for us. One other concern for us was the car parking facility. Unless you are lucky enough to park at the front of the hotel, you have to use the additional car park across the busy A429. Again the logistics of getting across this road with a pram was quite difficult." (97944865)

    The food (breakfast) was very good.

    Unfortunately the hotel doesn't appear to accomodate for baby equipment.

    "We paid £68 for a double room, icl breakfast (very good by the way!) which represented good value due to the location etc. The bedroom & bathroom certainly could do with a spruce up though. Service was excellent. All in all, we'd stay again providing the cost didn't rise above £70+." (97802510)

    "The Unicorn is a very pleasant hotel that dates back several centuries. Therefore uneven and very creaky floors etc are to be expected. The room (a twin room) was a reasonable size though the facilities were pretty basic. A small tv with access to just 4 terrestial channels and a shower that had a very leaky shower head that soaked much of the doorway area of the bathroom. We only had breakfast at the hotel (the restaurant is very modern looking and out of character with the building so we went elsewhere for dinner) and it was pretty standard, though I noticed that during the time that we were in the restaurant (perhaps 20 mins or so) the service to the other guests was extremely variable. Some got their cooked breakfasts (where they ordered them; we just went for the continental breakfast) before they had even finished their cereal whilst others got forgotten and had to complain. One way or another, the staff had to spend a fair bit of time apologising." (97088995)

    It had atmosphere; it was well located.

    The room was pretty basic; the shower head didn't work properly and soaked much of the bathroom; the tv was very limited; the beds weren't terribly comfortable.

    I thought the staff were very helpful, the downstairs areas pleasant and comfortable and the little garden lovely. Evening meal was great, breakfast good on first day, but my husband said his was not so great the next day.

    Small room, pretty cramped (think was room 21) and noisy staff gossiping in courtyard below - not very relaxing!
