    "Greatly enjoyed - and we would certainly use this hotel again when visiting Derby or nearby." (108985626)

    We were courteously received and welcomed, directed to local places at our request, given the type of room we had requested (i.e. non-smoking, bath),found the room warm, welcoming and clean, and greatly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was of a high standard.

    There were local places (e.g. The Toby Carvery 1 mile away, with seemingly better value food for a main meal.

    "What a shame. The room was very well presented - spacious, modern and comfortable. Not having basic Freeview TV channels is poor these days though. The problems really start as soon as you leave your room. The lifts were obviously new and obviously cheap. The call buttons on the third floor are broken already. Paper litter was left lying in the corridor too long. Food in the hotel was very limited and there was nowhere within walking distance. The thing that really soured my view of the place was when the checkout receptionist wanted me to pay another £8 a day for breakfast when it had already been included in my room rate. I wonder if that happens often?" (108715538)

    The room was large, clean and comfortable.

    The location was pretty noisy. The main restaurant was closed and had clearly been closed for some time. General cleanliness round the hotel wasn't good. A "clerical error" nearly led to me being charged twice for breakfast. Breakfast was a bit basic. £15 a day for broadband? I pay that a MONTH at home.

    TV remote broken. Took to desk and got it back still broken. Only worked sporadically. Food order delivered to table was not what was ordered.

    Fantastic shower - lots of hot water. Very impressed with the modern decor and cleanliness for a functional room. Crisp white sheets on a comfortable bed.

    we stayed 2 nights, but night 1 allocated a smoking room, despite clear request for non-smoking, as wife is ex-cancer patient and detests smell of smoke.

    Good sized room (402) and well laid out, clean and comfortable. Brilliant view of the Derby Cricket Ground - should have scheduled a further night and watched a match! This was just an overnight stay on the way back from Prague. Well situated for East Midlands Airport as we livein Shropshire. Late night reception proved great as our flight was delayed but everything open and well 'manned' for our later than scheduled arrival. We were looking for something convenient for the airport for a brief stopover and were WELL pleased with the accommodation and price - also the beakfast....the poor chap seemed to be doing everything (very well) himself and still managed a joke, well done him and your hotel generally, thanks.

    nice budget hotel near city centre, good value

    tv remote was not working when we arrived, batteries replaced worked for five minutes then stopped, reporetd it to reception, no one had been by the time we checked out.

    Hotel was clean and decent as I expected to spend a night. Again Active Hotel did not pass my comment message from the booking website and they haven't know that we are bringing a child, however they immediately replaced the room and gave us a family room.

    Bed was a bit soft, no bath but only shower in our room.

    Good Staff, nice room

    booked Twin room in January, this confirmed Twin room...BUT on arrival found none left...given a Family room...This was not what I booked Or wanted...And I was not alone others had same experiance..YOU SHOULD GET WHAT YOU CONTRACTED FOR. Why not tell people on booking if they do not turn up THEY STILL PAY...VERY POOR! GIVE people what they booked, or they will not trust you and come back....Look forward to you reply..Dave Hughes

    Rooms were spacious, adequate parking

    General chaos - the staff in the hotel were not sure of what was happening in the hotel. Short staffed. Hygiene in the hotel was poor.

    Location. Room was very nice, well decorated etc. Staff very helpful on reception including the night person. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and relatives anytime.

    No bad points on a one night stay

    The shower was very powerful. The room was clean and the staff helpful and accommodating when we requested more tea supplies.

    The towels were slightly rough.

    Nothing - only complaint would be that the fan did not work in the bathroom.
