    Great friendly staff == good welsh food -- very fresh.. Blackboard day menu is worth at visit.. Rooms are excellent - not plastic or out of characture. Bathroom/Shower all new..

    Excellent location, a lot of history, good food, friendly staff. Hotel has been well restored and upgraded.

    In small street so get map/directions before you start.Morning/breakfast staff very busy.

    Excellent room for the money. Lots of character, good furniture, good facilities.

    Maintenance and cleaning could be improved (no reason why only 3 out of 5 lights in the bedroom should work and lamp shades on bed side lights thick with dust on sides near to wall).

    staff were excellent on the 1st night, late drinks request, no problems. filled us in with info that wasn't forthcoming on arrive ie:- how to get in when closed after late night out !!!

    staff couldn't get us out of the bar quick enough, not the same staff as 1st night !!! fire alarm went off at about 08:00 hrs monday morning, we were told don't worry we didn't burn your breakfast, not concerned that had to get up and come down to find out what was going on !!! we didn't know if there was a fire or not, bit concerning.

    I thought the Black Boy was excellent. Great Room (newly refurbished). Food was good and reasonably priced. Bar was really good and friendly.

    Clanliness of Hotel quality of fixtures and fittings.I noticed in particular the the bathroom fittings were of a very high standard. the staff were very kind and helpful and the Hotel had a very friendly ambience.

    The food was excellent and a very comprehensive menu. Very friendly and attentive staff

    On arrival it was a little off putting as there was lots of rubbish ie: old doors and debris by the side of the hotel,at the time of booking the web site had mentioned that refurbishment was taking place but we did not expect to see so much of it in evidence

    My friend from Belgium and I stayed for a couple of nights during our tour of North Wales on our Vespa Scooters. The Black Boy offered Excellent value for money, great food, and we were made very welcome, The Black Boy is certainly the place to go for future visits to Caernarfon. Highly reccommended.

    Having stayed in a hotel the previous night which was double the price we were very surprised to have such a lovely experience at the Black Boy. We arrived early but this did not phase them, rooms were beautiful and food was gorgeous

    Little noisy outstide but not a major problem.

    "Chaotic 'welcome' 4.30 p.m. Friday - place having a refit and builders' stuff everywhere. Reception area non-functioning, staff distracted etc. Telephone u/s. OK, but no apology either, and a modest discount might have been a nice gesture! But I'll give this place another chance some time - it COULD be excellent." (107844969)

    Friendly atmosphere and staff. Good breakfast. Excellent dinner the one night I 'ate in'. Place has plenty of character.

    Loft bedroom - no windows, only skylight, like being in prison- low interior beams cracked my head. Nowhere to sit - had to perch on bed to watch TV etc. Place in chaos due to builders etc. (see below) Parking awkward and inadequate.

    Good price, nice restaurant and excellent location.

    The room was very out dated but thats because they haven't updated that part of the building yet. We did peek into some of the renovated rooms and they looked amazing.

    Beer (Real Ale) was excellent.

    Breakfast varied in Quality & Quantity, Coffee, Hot Choclate was not replenished in room, service in Bar was not the best.

    The atmosphere was great. It was centrally located, and the pub downstairs was very convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful. The parking was very convenient. Because the building heating wasn't great, there was a space heater in the room that worked marvelously well and made the unseasonably cold nights cozy.

    The shower was difficult. The hot water was extremely unreliable. The temperature went back and forth from freezing to scalding over the course of a minute EVERY MINUTE the shower was turned on. There were two 15 second times each minute when the temperature was appropriate for showering. Otherwise, I have no real complaints. It's a very old building and has a certain ambiance because of that. But modern people need to bathe.

    Unfortunately the hotel was a bit like a building site. The bar and dining rooms were however ok.

    the place where it was,very central to town and our needs

    only had one sheet and a thin bed spread,we were very cold all night and the bed was very hard,we didnt sleep much at all

    The hotel was a lovely,warm,friendly place to stay. Excellent staff,room and food. The building has good character...interesting.

    The bed was a little tired but other than that it was perfect!
