    Reception welcome very friendly. Room set up very good. Lovely little town with restaurants and shops within 100 yds

    A little expensive compared to basic hotels but worth it for the room's fixtures and fittings. Corridors are narrow with stairs so our room was not suitable for people who have walking difficulties. Other rooms are better.

    "Excellent stopover on the way north, and we stupidly decided in advance to try elsewhere on the way back down. We now intend to stay at the Annadale for a longer period - if we can get in! No need to go further north!" (107691030)

    Pleasant recently refurbished room, great food, happy staff and I would guess a wise owner.

    Only downside is the beer, couldn`t find a decent pint in Moffat never mind the Annadale. Whoever runs Belhaven ought to be drowned in a large vat of his product. I presume there`s no such organisation as CAMRA in Scotland.

    "I am a frequent business traveller so I've stayed in numerous hotels. This, although a leisure trip, has to be the most expensive and least value for money hotel I've ever stayed in. Simply could not recommend this to anyone. " (107690240)

    Close to wedding destination

    Shabby room / no shower / no heavy curtains therefore far too bright in the morning. Far too expensive for the quality of room.

    "Over priced second rate hotel. Far nicer in Moffat for better value which we found as we walked around the town. Went on to stay at Hilton for 70 pounds per night weekend in Glasgow." (107231448)

    Staff helpful. Breakfast good. Contractors seemed to be taking up the bulk of the rooms.

    Room downstairs in underground annexe like living in a cave at top rate. No hot water, bottled water refillled from tap in room. ( Caught you there - you didn't change the already opened bottle of Strathspey whatever it was - you just topped it up). Charged for pathetic coffee with Heath Robinson type machine in check in area. Rip off.

    Quiet,Comfortable

    One minor point---Central Heating radiator did not work as it was full of air and required bleeding.

    "Overall I was more than satisfied by my stay at the Annandale, it was very good value for money, clean with good service and I would definately stay there again. If anyone is thinking of staying in Moffat then this hotel should be at the top of their list!" (99601815)

    The staff were very friendly, check in was very straightforward, lots of free parking both at the rear of the Hotel and on the street. My Room had obviously been refurbished and was very clean, well furnished and very light. Breakfast the next morning was quite possibly the best that I've had in any hotel!

    The accommodation was brilliant. We were given a choice of either a chalet or a room in the main part of the hotel. We chose the room as we were told it had just been re-decorated, and also if you chose the chalets, you had to negotiate going outside to the main hotel - a bit cold at this time of year.

    The only thing I found was a minor technicality was that the radiators could have done with being a bit warmer. We visited between Christmas and New Year, it wasn't very cold, but it was damp and we could have done with warmer rooms.

    "In general a pleasant country hotel with friendly staff and excellent food from local produce. The bedroom was, however, well below three star standard. Decor and furnishings tired and drab, no dressing table, shortage of power points, shortage of hanging and drawer space, no shower, no lock on bathroomn door - not really suitable for more than a one night stop. Hotel not well adapted for the disabled or those with mobility problems - it is an old building with many steps, and flight of stairs without lift from car park to reception area." (3304376860)

    "A very agreable overnight stay. Service and accomodation both up to the mark. The terrace area at the back of the hotel needs some attention - it gives the impression that improvement works have been started at some point ant then abandoned." (3305168035)

    Quiet postion of room. Comfortable bed, pleasant decorations. Food was excellent and served efficiently and pleasantly by the staff. Excellent car parking arrangements close to the room and off the street.

    We had to fight our way through the creeper from the car park to our room. Would have been unpleasant if it had been raining.

    "We've stayed at this hotel before and will continue to book accomodation with you, particularly if we acquire one of the 'stables'. Although we are sure we would have coped very well with the nose bags, hay feeders and straw bedding (ha ha) we were delighted to discover the four poster bed, the very adequate room facilities and the fine, extensive restaurant menu.     Efficient and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable bed/bed linen. Very good breakfast

    Accommodation a bit tired, plug in air fresheners masking unpleasant smell. Heating faulty (but heater provided)

    "I booked this hotel because of it's central location on the High Street and it is well placed with good off-street parking. The hotel is well over 200 years old, so you must expect a few creaking floorboards, but this is part of the character. The cosy restaurant served a good dinner and Scottish breakfast. Friendly service, particularly from one young lady who was receptionist, bar person and waitress at dinner and who, despite being very busy, still had time to help with directions/local knowledge.     It's an old building that fits in with the history of Moffat.

    It was a colder than average March and some of the public areas could have been warmer, however, the hotel as been there well over 200 years. When asked, the staff readily took steps to increase the temperature.

    "The attitude of the staff was very good indeed. Given the nature of the room, I felt that the room element of our bill was somewhat overpriced. The food was very good, despite the fact that the restaurant was closed (lack of business) and only bar food was on offer. While I would recommend the hotel, I would do so with reservations."     Breakfast was good

    The room, which was introduced as 'one of our best', was well worn. Worse still was the bathroom where the shower screen allowed water to leak all over the floor, and the toilet seat was not fixed properly to the pan.
