    Wonderful historic building in the centre of Shrewsbury. Good buffet breakfast.

    Noisy as my room was next to the lift - although the noise did stop when the lift was switched off at 11.45pm.

    The hotel is very central and has off-road parking which is a bonus in Shrewsbury.

    The breakfast was shambolic on both days. Dirty tables. We had to ask to order. Food was cold when it arrived. The room was very hot, even with the windows open. The toilet seat was broken. We had to find someone to serve us in the bar in the evening.

    Lovely hotel with lots of character. The staff were very helpful and extremely cheerful who couldn't do enough to help. The room itself was very comfortable, better than the local Travelodge by far and just as cheap!

    We were on the third floor so it was quite hot and we had to have the window open which of course meant more noise from the traffic. We did find out afterwards that we could have requested a fan!

    I didnt make the internet booking but believe it to be very straightforward. The check in was one of the quickest I can remember which was very welcome.

    The room was somewhat creaky. It didnt bother me but just walking around seemed to make a lot of noise. Breakfast was a very basic. Very small portions and average quality

    Food was good, hotel itself was very nice, charming bar area with pleasant staff, ideal location for exploring town, ample parking and easy to find

    room very small, bathroon little more than a cupboard, very dated and worn facilities, badly needed refurbishement and little or no soundproofing and far too warm and stuffy one of the worst nights sleep we had in our 10 night holiday in uk

    Great central location, small and intimate, good food. great attitude by the reception staff, very friendly and efficient young lady at the desk

    Surly restaurant and unfriendly housekeeping staff. Lack of any shelving in the bathrooms to place toiletries is also frustrating.

    our reservation changed several times over a couple of days and the reception staff were very willing to help.

    Windows in Room did not fit (draft), floor boards creeked excessively, mixer shower and bath did not function correctly. general smell of hotel was not pleasent

    Lovely atmosphere, very traditional, friendly helpful staff

    still requires some decorating, we were shown around the ballrooms although a big job a lick of paint would make a difference, but it would be nice to keep original features as that is what makes the hotel

    Lovley Building fantastic fittings and atmosphere friendly staff

    hotel full of character in centre of great town

    I arrived late - around 11.10pm - an hotel was closed up even though there was a night porter on the desk

    Friendly hotel in a great location in the centre of Shrewsbury.

    You need to be fit to get your luggage to the room with lots of stairs to negociate, but I expect vthat in an old place like this - It could be a problem for an older person.

    friendly staff nothing too much trouble.room very clean and satisfactry.breakfast very good.

    the lounge area could have been cleared away more quickly empty glasses and tea/coffee accompanyments left for a long while on tables and comfy furniture would have looked better if plumped up occasionally.not enough staff manning the two bars sometimes had to wait a while to be served.

    "We werent aware that the shops would be closed because of it being easter, we thought being a bank holiday there would be something on somewhere. we arrived on the saturday late afternoon and went shopping.Sunday was really quiet we went out of the town due to everything being closed and even out out of town, like telford things were closed. We ended up having a long drive and we stopped at a local pub for lunch. The lion is a a lovely hotel right in the middle of the town having great access to all of the shops, which wasnt far to walk.The music hall didnt have a lot of entertainment on ,we found this dissapointing it would have been nice to have seen a musical show or even a play."     The hotel was beautiful, it was right in the middle of shrewsbury ,really close to all the shops.The atmosphere of the hotel was relaxing in the downstairs areas. The satff were friendly and helpfull,it was a lovely old world hotel , we really relaxed and had a lovely stay.

    The floors were very squeaky and are in need of an update, everywhere you walked the floors squeaked which kept me awake the first night you can hear the rooms above when people are walking around or if someone is walking around on your landing.

    "Great - we would have no problems at all booking the Lion Hotel again should we be visitng Shrewsbury." (97560993)

    The Hotel had no problem adding a travel cot into our room on arrival

    Breakfast was a little difficult to get too as we had our 6 month old son in his pushchair - too many stairs to carry him down
