    "I lived in Kettering for over 30 years, and this was one of the best locations around to stay, hence my booking. This is now one of the worst places I have ever stayed based on the fact that I stay in approx 20 hotels a year." (108468746)

    The hotel was dirty, shabby and run down in my opionion. The staff were uninterested in us, with little politeness. The room was extremely basic, and dirty. The noise from the outside was terrible, as even with the windows shut you could hear everything.

    The shower had virtually no water pressure (I gave up on trying to wash my hair).

    Staff were helpful and chatty.

    The music from the nightclub opposite woke us all up at around 11pm. Due to the high temperature during the night, the windows had to be kept open. I eventually closed the windows at 1pm when the temperature started to cool. The music was still too loud to let us sleep. By 1.30am, I was fuming and very tired, the children were in tears. We did get to sleep at about 2.30am. As I had specifically booked a family room, I am very surprised that the room was exposed to this problem (not only the music, but the foul language used by the nightclub users as they left). Not an experience I want to repeat. When I mentioned this a breakfast the next morning, it turned out hat the nightclub was owned by the hotel owner, so I doubt that anything will be done about the problem.

    the hotel was within walking distance of entertainment and suppers

    We go to grand prix and we always dont get anything to eat as we have to set off early,we feel the hotels could put something up for us to take with us that early

    The location of the hotel was convenient for my business needs the following day and the car park was in easy reach of Reception

    Receptionist didn't smile or make me feel welcome The overall appearance of the hotel was shabby and old fashioned The room was small with very basic furnishings The bed was uncomfortable and bed linen dirty in places The windows in the room wouldn't open The carpet in the room looked like it needed a good clean The cooked breakfast wasn't tasty - seemed to be cheap ingredients and the fruit juice was obviously watered down

    The food was good, friendly staff

    The hot water took 15 minutes to ome through to the loft room, and when it did it went from freezing to boiling within seconds, so very dangerous! The quilt covers were dirty, we asked for more sheeets but the receptionist said that the maid had gone home and she hadn't a key to the bedding store.

    "We were staying overnight after attending a family celebration, and found the hotel to be comfortable, if a little warm, and quiet enough in spite of there being a night club on site." (107567108)

    Bed was confortable, hotel was quiet, breakfast was good and served promptly, reception was open late, building is very old and is interesting, breakfast room has lovely roof (Victorian glass) and lovely wood panelling on the walls.

    Room was very warm until the early hours of the morning, only one sachet of hot chocolate in the hospitality tray, I was surprised that guests had to make their own toast as if we had stayed in a cheaper B&B this would all have been served to us.

    Brilliantly located and the staff are all superb, any comments made to the staff are addressed immediately and the friendly approach certainly suits my requirements better than the clinical "chain" hotels

    Rooms are a little dated..... But I like that, it won't be to everyone's tastes.

    I know Queen Victoria stayed there in 1884,The floor boards in our room were the creakiest i have ever encountered wish i brought me screwdriver !!

    The hotel was clean and tidy and staff were polite nad helpful.

    I booked a block of rooms and not all were as good as mine, hence the 'adequate' comments. Some of the rooms were in poor condition, with broken furniture and in a shabby decorative order. They were also and I find this unforgivable, very cold. Many of our guests were wearing evening clothes as they were at a wedding reception and we were all frozen. I did not expect to find the radiators off at midnight. Also the dining room roof leaked rain water. Very unsatisfactory. That is not the immage to present for your hotel chain and as I had guests from abroad I was quite dissapointed.

    "Overall a good hotel for an overnight stay in Kettering. The club on the ground floor was mentioned at check in with regard to late night music but we found that it was not loud enough to disturb us and therefore was not a problem. I would happily recommend the hotel to anyone wanting reasonably priced overnight accomodation in the area" (107594561)

    Service, breakfast, cleanliness.

    None of the electrical equipment in the room had been checked for safety for over a year. This was shown on the dates on the stickers on the equipment. I also feel that there should have been a clock in the room.

    All the staff were wonderful, really friendly and welcoming. The facilities were great as well.

    The hotel cleanliness wasn't the best. The rooms especially looked like they hadn't been serviced properly.

    The staff was good, friendly, and helpful. Fantastic location on the edge of a pedestrianised area with reasonable access to shops and restaurants and car parking for those arriving by auto.

    Upon check-in I learnt that my room was above the nightclub and could be noisy. I did not have noise from the nightclub (a good point) but I also couldn't open the window for air and believe that this was to prevent noise (I didn't ask for help). The room had been a smoking room and, while smoking is no longer permitted indoors, the room still smelled of smoke. It really needed to be cleaned thoroughly. In general, the hotel had a slightly shabby feel but I do prefer that to a hotel that is sterile and has been updated unsympathetically.

    We stayed in the Royal Suite, and the room was good

    Certain points let the room down, such as peeling wallpaper in the Sitting Room, and the ancient bath suite

    "Disappointing" (108075917)

    Pleasant Receptionist, reception,bar & restaurant areas were nicely kept & maintained the period features of the building

    Bedroom too small for a double room, (bed was right against the wall in order to give sufficient room to get to the desk/TV unit. Bathroom suite in need of updating. Did not like the impractical soap dispensers.
