  Traditional hotel in town. Staff v friendly. Warm and cosy. Good bar.

  "The hotel is quite an old building, set in the centre of the town. The lobby, lounge and bar areas have panelled walls and ceilings and have some character about them. The accommodation is in line with what you would expect with an older building which has been converted to en suite over a period. The bedroom was quite small but clean and the bathroom facilities were spotless. We didn't dine in the hotel as we were out and about but there was a carvery available in the evenings. We were room only and breakfast was extra at 10 euro which was popular with non residents as well as residents. In general, a fairly comfortable place to stay for a few days and use as a base for travelling around the mid-west of the country." (3304864756)

  "The room was very shabby and small, I did not feel I wanted to have a shower as all looked very mucky. When checking out it rook 3 reception staff to deal with one customer and at no time did they acknowledge we were waiting. I would not return to this hotel." (3304528209)

  "In general the hotel was fine but i think it is more suitable for older people. Also found some of the staff a bit abrupt." (3304520335)

  Its location, within walking distance of shops and pubs

  The check in procedure was lengthy and we found some of staff to be abrupt. I ordered a double room but got a twin one & the floor was uneven in the room

  "Great location near to South Ring, easy to find and get onto routes from city." (3304485760)

  Good room facilities, quiet and comfortable. Bar was friendly, and food good.

  Wireless internet access would have been useful.

  "This hotel is well situated in virtually the centre of Ireland. It is easliy found in the town. The exterior is a bit scruffy, this belies the interior." (3304270284)

  "Having said all of the above I think my stay was excellent value for money and I would recommend the hotel to other business colleagues but tell them to find somewhere else to eat, the food was not good value for money. I still maintain that its saving grace is the staff - I cannot praise them highly enough. Once inside the hotel you can see that it is a refurbished elderly building and the refurbishment in the bar / reception / restaurant areas has been carried out with care. Hopefully in the future they will do the same with the painwork in the rooms. However, the soft furnishings curtains / carpets / bed throws etc seemed quite new and the bedding was good quality and very clean. Beds were super comfortable." (2926033)

  The staff were wonderful - helpful and polite - really felt as if they cared about our comfort during our stay.

  Room needed a coat of paint, wallpaper had coffee stains from a previous guest all over it. Shower took too long to give hot water (10 minutes the first morning). The bar menu food was expensive for the quality of the food - would not recommend to anyone else.
